The sun was shining brightly outside, and the sky was clear and blue; it was a beautiful day.
Liu Jiu and Xuan Yi hurriedly left with their schoolbags; they had a test today.
"Six Nine, are you still looking for Liang Xiaocao at noon?"
“Find a solution as soon as possible. If it drags on, it will interfere with your studies. If your grades drop significantly in this test, my parents will definitely have a talk with you.”
Liu Jiu's words made Gu Xuanyi shudder involuntarily, fearing that his second uncle would drag him into extra training.
"My grades can't drop."
Gu Xuanyi spoke without much confidence. His grades were very stable, and if there were any major fluctuations, his second uncle would definitely ask why.
My second uncle and aunt wouldn't demand that they get a perfect score; they just needed to do their best. However, it wouldn't be acceptable for them to let unnecessary things interfere with their studies.
The two walked and discussed what to do for lunch, and whether they could resolve the issue at once.
When they arrived at the classroom, most of the students were already there. Liu Jiu started reading, and Gu Xuanyi also took out his textbook. He was trying to memorize some of the key points so he could get a good grade.
After a morning of continuous exams, everyone was exhausted. They were slow to rush to the cafeteria, and their steps were heavy.
After quickly finishing his meal, Gu Xuanyi went to the secret base, the place where Liu Jiu had been talking to him. Liu Jiu had gone to call Liang Xiaocao.
The classroom was empty, and many students hadn't returned yet. Liu Jiu quickly found Liang Xiaocao.
"Liang Xiaocao, can you come out for a moment? I need to talk to you about something."
When Liu Jiu saw Liang Xiaocao up close for the first time, she thought she was quite pretty. She had big, watery eyes, a small face, and fair skin. She was quite beautiful.
"Gu Yun Chu, what do you need me to do? Can we say it here?"
Liang Xiaocao and Gu Yunchu were not familiar with each other, mainly because Gu Yunchu did not participate in activities with the girls in the class.
"I don't care, but I don't know if it matters to you, pink envelope."
Liu Jiu spoke the last few words rather softly, but Liang Xiaocao heard them. She looked flustered, stood up, and even stumbled over her leg.
Liu Jiu led the way, with Liang Xiaocao following closely behind. The two soon reached the corner of the teaching building, where Gu Xuanyi was already waiting.
"Gu Xuanyi, what are you doing here?"
Liang Xiaocao blushed when she saw Gu Xuanyi.
"Liang, I just want to ask you, did you put the letter in my desk? Please don't put it there again."
We are all studying, and we should focus our energy on our studies. Your behavior has already affected my learning. If it happens again, I will give the letter to the teacher.
Gu Xuanyi didn't waste any words and went straight to the point; he'd really had enough.
"I...I like you. Don't you like me?"
With wet eyes, Liang Xiaocao asked Gu Xuanyi timidly.
Liu Jiu felt goosebumps rise on her skin; that expression, that look in her eyes, was too much to bear.
"I don't like it. Right now, I just want to study hard and get into a good university in the future."
I don't want to make a big fuss about this, as it's not good for your reputation. Please don't leave letters on my desk anymore.
Otherwise, I'll tell the teacher, and then there will be gossip, which won't be good for you.
Gu Xuanyi acted as if he hadn't noticed the girl's hesitant expression, and left after finishing his sentence.
Liu Jiu didn't leave. She waited for Liang Xiaocao to finish crying so she could leave with her, just in case something unexpected happened.
Liang Xiaocao was surprised that Gu Xuanyi had no interest in her at all.
Wiping away her tears, she didn't say anything to Liu Jiu and walked back to the classroom.
Liu Jiu followed behind until Liang Xiaocao sat down in her seat, at which point Liu Jiu felt that her mission was accomplished.
There were still tests in the afternoon. By the time school was over, all the eighth graders were listless, dizzy, and their brains were exhausted. It was too mentally taxing.
I don't need to study English today. I don't plan to continue studying. I'm going to practice and give my brain a rest.
After dinner, only Bonnie was left at home; the children had gone out to play, and Gu Ye hadn't returned yet.
"Ringling..."
The phone rang, and Bonnie picked up the receiver. Liu Zi's voice came through.
"Baoni, this is Liu Zi. I have a courtyard house for sale. Do you want to take a look?"
"Look, I've been waiting all along."
Bonnie was surprised to receive news about the courtyard house she had been longing for.
“Okay, come to the housing management office this weekend and I’ll take you to see the houses.”
"Okay, I'll be there on time."
Bonnie was happy after hanging up the phone. She had been thinking about it for a while and had looked at several other women before, but hadn't liked any of them.
Bonnie went back to her bedroom to calculate how much money she had left. If all else failed, she still had quite a bit of gold jewelry and such.
Bonnie thought about the small box she brought back from the secret base. It didn't contain any priceless treasures, but mostly gold jewelry, bracelets, hairpins, and a few large and small yellow croakers.
Bonnie mentally calculated her savings and wondered what she would do with the courtyard house she bought. She couldn't just leave it lying around; she had to rent it out. Only when people were around would the house have life and not easily fall into disrepair.
Bonnie was lost in thought when she unknowingly fell asleep, unaware of when the children returned.
"Six-Nine, Xuan Yi, it's cloudy today, it looks like it's going to snow, you should put on light cotton coats."
"Okay, Mom."
After spitting out the mouthwash, Liu Jiu replied to her mother and went inside to find her clothes.
After finishing their meals, they gradually left home to go to work or school, following the same routes every day.
In the library, Teacher Ma was cleaning up.
"Bonnie, I feel like it's going to snow. It got a bit chilly this morning. Have you prepared all the food for winter?"
"Everything is ready. The sauerkraut is being pickled, and some salted vegetables have also been pickled. We've stored quite a bit of squash, old cucumbers, and other vegetables in the cellar. Teacher Ma, if any of you are running out of autumn vegetables, just let us know."
