Chapter 60 Bonnie is Mighty

A large number of people enlisted on the island, and aside from the family compounds, the members of the various brigades on the island were quite envious.

Two sons from the Lin family went to join the army, and everyone envied the Lin family for having such a promising daughter as Lin Baoni, who could support her family.

Because of Lin Baoni's example, a trend of spoiling daughters has emerged on the island, with people feeling that raising a girl well is not entirely useless, and sometimes she is no less capable than a boy.

"Look at Bao Ni from the Lin family, it's become her catchphrase!"

The weather is getting hotter and hotter. The vegetables in Bonnie's yard have grown quite tall, and Liu Jiu can walk now and can wander around the yard without anyone helping her.

This child is a little devil; he grabs and pulls at everything he sees.

Now, when they go out, Bonnie doesn't dare to look Liu Jiu in the eye. She's not afraid of anything else, just afraid that Liu Jiu will make other children cry. She's much stronger than most children, and she doesn't know her own strength; when she's having fun, she can easily pull someone down.

Bonnie is now consciously training herself to control her strength, but with little success.

The child is still too young to understand many words, so Bonnie tries her best to demonstrate, speaking softly, very softly. Occasionally, Liu Jiu can remember that her mother speaks softly.

Some primary schools have started to reopen, but junior and senior high schools haven't. Everywhere off the island, you can see groups of teenagers, sleeves rolled up, waving their arms, as if they've been injected with adrenaline.

The women in the family compound have become much quieter. Apart from occasionally going to the beach, they are all busy in their own yards, and there is less gossip. Especially those with special class backgrounds, they don't even leave their yards.

The tranquility of the family compound was shattered on this day.

"Bonnie, Bonnie, are you home?"

Aunt Huang from next door rushed in, shouting loudly for Bao Ni.

"Sister-in-law, what's wrong? What happened? Why are you in such a hurry?"

Bao Ni and Zhao Yuan were playing with the child in the yard. I didn't hear anything.

“The girl Fu, the daughter of Deputy Regiment Commander Zhao in the back row, is about to give birth. There’s no one around, and I can’t help her by myself, so I came over to ask you for help.”

Zhao Fu's wife, Bao Ni, was someone Zhao knew. The first time she went to the beach, it was Fu and two other women from the Third Regiment who were worried about her safety by the rocks and waited for her to come back.

"Zhao Yuan, you stay home and look after the children. Lock the gate in the yard from the inside. Don't go out until I come back."

Bonnie anxiously instructed Zhao Yuan to lock the gate, worried that she wouldn't be able to take care of the three children alone. Especially her son, Liu Jiu, who was stronger than Zhao Yuan.

"Okay, go ahead. I'll keep an eye on the three of them and make sure they don't leave the yard."

Bonnie ran out of her yard, and Zhao Yuan shouted after her to reassure her.

Deputy Regiment Commander Zhao's house was just behind Bao Ni's house, not too far away. Bao Ni and Sister-in-law Huang arrived in less than two minutes.

Sister-in-law Fu, heavily pregnant, leaned against the door. Her pants looked wet; her water must have broken.

"Have you notified Deputy Regiment Commander Zhao?"

"They went out to sea today, I wonder when they'll be back!" Mrs. Huang heard her husband, Old Huang, mention this in the morning that they were going out to sea today.

"Sister Huang, take the child's things. I'm carrying Sister Fu to the clinic now. Follow behind."

"Hey, hey, Bonnie, can you carry her by yourself? Let's lift her up together."

Without exchanging any more pleasantries with Sister Huang, Bao Ni picked up Sister Fu around the waist and ran towards the clinic.

Fortunately, they were all in the family compound, and it wasn't far. Bao Ni carried Sister Fu to the clinic without much effort.

The clinic was in chaos, with shouts and commotion; it was unclear what was happening. She could vaguely make out people wearing red armbands shouting something, so Bonnie quickened her pace.

"Dr. Yang, is Dr. Yang here? Sister Fu is about to give birth."

"Comrade Lin, Comrade Lin, the Red Guards are going to arrest Dr. Yang, saying she is the descendant of a capitalist and that they are going to parade her through the streets and criticize her."

A young nurse, with messy hair and a pale face, ran over and spoke to Bonnie.

"Nurse Wang, could you please bring over a hospital bed? I need to put Sister Fu down; she needs to go to the delivery room now."

"Okay, okay, I'll go push it right away."

Nurse Wang turned and ran to push the bed. Bao Ni comforted Sister Fu, "Sister-in-law, don't worry. Dr. Yang is very skilled and will definitely ensure your safe delivery. When Deputy Commander Zhao comes back, you'll see your chubby baby."

"Yes, I know."

Sweating profusely, Sister-in-law Fu replied to Bao Ni despite the pain.

"Comrade Lin, the bed has arrived. Quickly put the pregnant woman in the car."

"Nurse Wang, where are Dr. Yang and the others? Were they taken away?"

Bonnie gently placed Sister Fu on the bed and anxiously asked Nurse Wang, "Where is Dr. Yang?"

"They didn't take it with them, they didn't take it with them. It's in Dr. Yang's office. They just came in."

Nurse Wang was quite young and was a little frightened.

"Nurse Wang, let's take Sister Fu into the delivery room first. You stay there and watch over her while I go find Dr. Yang."

"Oh, oh, don't worry, I will definitely take good care of Sister-in-law Fu."

After settling Sister-in-law Fu in, Bao Ni turned and walked towards Dr. Yang's office.

"Dr. Yang, Dr. Yang, Sister Fu's water broke and she's about to give birth. It's a very urgent situation, and we need you to deliver the baby."

“No, Yang Yue is the offspring of capitalists and has no right to deliver the children of revolutionaries. She needs to be criticized now.”

When Bonnie entered Dr. Yang's office, besides Dr. Yang, there were two doctors from the clinic, and the rest were young revolutionaries wearing red armbands. They weren't very old, probably junior or senior high school students.
