Chapter 31 The Mysterious Old Man

"Why don't you have a couple of drinks with them later?"

Leng Lie looked at her in surprise.

Guan Yuxi had already instructed him to go and call for help, "Go quickly."

She placed a small bowl of amber-colored soup in front of the old man in white.

"This is red date and peach gum. It has the effects of clearing heat, cooling blood, relieving pain, and promoting diuresis. You can try it after it has cooled down for a while."

"Peach gum?"

"Yes, it's gum that forms on peach trees."

In front of everyone, Guan Yuxi scooped a bowl of water from the pot and drank it.

He handed Leng Lie a bowl.

Leng Lie downed the drink in one gulp, then licked his lips with a lingering satisfaction. "So delicious!"

The elderly man in white was curious and picked up a spoon to taste it.

His attendant, dressed in blue, blocked his hand.

Minister Zhao smiled, took a spoonful, and said, "It is indeed very delicious, both sweet and soft."

I never expected Xiaoxi to have such great skills; I'm really lucky to have her today.

The old man in white had a serene gaze, yet it carried an unmistakable air of authority.

The attendant in blue bowed his head and stepped back.

"You should eat some too, so as not to waste Xiaoxi's good intentions."

Two tables were set up for the meal.

Guan Yuxi and the old man in white sat in the main room, and a set of chopsticks and a bowl were placed in front of the portrait of the old man.

Leng Lie led the others to the outer room of the kitchen.

“Your grandfather once wrote to me, asking me to take you to the capital.”

Guan Yuxi picked up a piece of green vegetable with her chopsticks and said, "Try it, it's green vegetable that I grew myself."

The elderly man in white readily agreed, ate the food, and praised its delicious taste.

Fang continued, "Your grandfather's biggest worry is you."

Guan Yuxi toasted Grandpa Guan with a glass of wine, and then drank it all herself.

Why isn't mine?

The old man in white looked at the thick milk tea in front of him with displeasure.

Guan Yuxi remained unmoved, saying, "Your constitution is prone to getting overheated, so it's best to drink less alcohol."

"Old Guan, your granddaughter is amazing."

I came to your house, and I couldn't even get a sip of wine.

The old man in white sighed and threw down his chopsticks in a huff.

Guan Yuxi thought for a moment, then took out a jar of rice wine. "Drink up, drink your fill!"

So that Grandpa won't come home at night and scold me.
