Chapter 12 Sibling Talk at Night (2/2)

Zhong Wanwan rolled over, buried her head under the covers, and said:

"Go to sleep, we have to get up early tomorrow to check the machines!"

…………

The next day, just as dawn was breaking, Zhong Baiyang, still half asleep, saw Zhong Wanwan and Zhong Songbai getting up quietly.

Zhong Baiyang rubbed his eyes and asked:

"Big sister, big brother, you two are up so early!"

Zhong Wanwan said softly:

"I'll take your older brother to learn how to drive a tractor. You can sleep a little longer. You can get up when Brother Wei comes to set up the kang (heated brick bed)!"

Zhong Baiyang pulled back the covers, sat up, and said:

"I'm going with my older sister and brother, and I want to learn from my older sister too!"

Zhong Wanwan comforted him, saying:

"Don't worry, I'm going to explain it to the next two apprentices anyway, so you can learn along with them!"

Zhong Baiyang said urgently:

"No way! My sister already said that I know these things. If others find out that I don't, what will they think of her? I can't let her break her promise!"

After saying that, Zhong Baiyang looked at Zhong Wanwan with a stubborn expression, afraid that she would make him go to sleep again!

Zhong Wanwan looked at Zhong Songbai and Zhong Baiyang, and a warm feeling welled up in her heart.

In modern times, from childhood to adulthood, she had only ever been cared for so much by her father.

She originally thought that after transmigrating to this era, she would have to struggle alone and take care of her two younger brothers.

Unexpectedly, her two younger brothers were also using their frail shoulders to try their best to support their older sister!

Zhong Wanwan smiled knowingly and said:

"Okay, we know. Our Baiyang is the most sensible one!"

Hearing that his older sister not only agreed but also praised him, Zhong Baiyang was overjoyed.

She quickly jumped up, put on the coat that was on the quilt, and rushed out the door, as if Zhong Wanwan might change her mind at any moment.

Zhong Wanwan and Zhong Songbai exchanged a smile, both seeing the helplessness they felt towards their mentally challenged younger brother in each other's eyes.

When the three siblings arrived at the yard where the tractors were parked, Zhong Wanwan picked out a tractor that was about 70-80% new and explained it to Zhong Songbai and Zhong Baiyang while inspecting it.

The tractor was in excellent condition, with no major problems. Minor issues were no problem for Zhong Wanwan, so she finished inspecting it in just over ten minutes.

Next, Zhong Wanwan taught Zhong Songbai how to drive the tractor, explaining the precautions for driving a tractor.

He then drove Zhong Songbai around twice more, then turned off the tractor, got out, clapped his hands, and said:

"Songbai, let's switch places. You can try driving it around!"

Despite listening very carefully and remembering what Zhong Wanwan had done, Zhong Songbai was still very nervous.

However, Zhong Songbai knew that Zhong Wanwan was taking a risk to protect him, and he absolutely could not let Zhong Wanwan down!

Zhong Songbai nodded vigorously, then switched places with Zhong Wanwan and tried to drive the tractor!

The first attempt was always bumpy, but thankfully after two tries, I finally managed to start the tractor!

Driving a tractor wasn't too difficult for him; after driving it around the open field for about four or five times, Zhong Songbai gradually got the hang of it.

Zhong Wanwan didn't dare let him drive this car more often, since diesel fuel was limited.

She checked the machine and found that it was okay to run it with a little diesel fuel, but it was unacceptable to run out a whole tank of diesel.

"You can't just pluck wool from a tractor," Zhong Wanwan said, stopping Zhong Songbai in his excitement.

"Songbai, let's get familiar with the next tractor. I'll make sure you get to know each and every one of them while I'm inspecting these tractors these next few days!"
