"That's right! Otherwise, how would I know!"
Xiao Zhang touched his nose with his left hand. He couldn't very well say that he had looked back, but only the lights on in the room on the fourth floor were on.
Zhou An'an didn't think much of it and turned to go upstairs. She had eaten a lot today, but thankfully she had digested a lot of it on the way.
Suddenly she felt a sharp pain in her stomach; the pain was so intense that she needed to address it immediately. She turned to Xiao Zhang and said...
"I'll go upstairs to take care of this first, I'll leave the door open for you!"
Xiao Zhang realized she needed to use the restroom, and then watched her run off at a fast pace, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
He quickly followed, carrying his bicycle, intending to put it inside the house, close the door, and then go downstairs.
I had originally planned to chat with Zhou An'an for a while, but now that this situation has suddenly occurred, I feel embarrassed to stay.
Zhou An'an opened the door with her key and rushed to the toilet without saying a word. She didn't turn on the living room light because she was in such a hurry that there was a light in the toilet.
As soon as she pushed open the bathroom door, she saw a figure stand up, which startled her so much that she screamed.
"Who are you!"
"It's all your fault for meddling. Otherwise, my man wouldn't have been arrested."
The woman walked out step by step, holding a knife. Her husband had been arrested by the police for gambling.
Because of several people's reports, he was given a lighter sentence but a heavier one, and he will have to stay in prison for several years before he can be released.
She and her child have no money that the man brought back, and they have been kicked out by the landlord. They have no food or water and are about to starve to death.
And all of this was caused by Zhou An'an!
Upon hearing the noise, Xiao Zhang rushed into the house and saw the woman come out with a knife. He yanked Zhou An'an aside and confronted the woman.
"Comrade, calm down! Put the knife down first!"
Zhou An'an quickly turned on the light, and upon seeing the woman's face, she immediately recognized her.
"Your husband's case is already settled, what are you trying to achieve by doing this?"
"My child and I can't survive now, and it's all because of you officials! You don't care about the lives of ordinary people; you just want to arrest people and put them in jail. I can't live, so why should I let you live?" the woman said arrogantly. "If I can't kill you today, I'll kill you later. I'm definitely going to kill you!"
The woman's erratic behavior terrified Zhou An'an. "He deserved it. It's not like we made a wrongful judgment. Besides, it was a court trial. Why are you coming to me?"
The woman brandished a knife at them, saying, "Wasn't it because you discovered the gambling den? Otherwise, how would they have been found out?"
Zhou An'an became anxious, "You're just being unreasonable! They did something illegal, and it was only a matter of time before they were arrested. Instead of advising your husband not to do anything illegal, you're pointing the finger at us after things have gone wrong. You're committing a crime too!"
"Why should I? You think you can just break the law like that? Who do you think you are!" The woman walked over step by step with the knife in her hand, occasionally sliding it around.
"I will kill you all today to avenge my husband!"
"Don't forget you have children. What will happen to them if you die?" Zhou An'an still tried to salvage the other person's conscience.
"Anyway, I can't raise the child. If he dies, he dies. Living is just suffering for nothing!" The woman's mood became more and more negative. She saw that they were about to leave, as if they were going to lock her in the house.
So she held a knife to her neck and said, "If you dare to leave, I'll die in this house and make you live with a guilty conscience for the rest of your lives!"
"Don't do anything stupid!" Zhou An'an had never seen such a scene before. Even though her voice trembled with fear, she tried to stop the other person from hurting her.
"Then all of you come in!" the woman yelled at them.
The neighbor next door heard something was wrong, opened the door, and saw this scene.
The man was startled, and then quickly asked Zhou An'an, "What's going on!"
The woman panicked when she realized that her plan had been exposed and that if they went to report it to the police, everything would be for naught.
"All of you, get in here!" she continued to yell, "or I'll die here!"
Zhou An'an could only try to calm the woman down, saying, "Calm down, I'll be right in!"
With her other hand, she waved to the man from behind, signaling him to come inside.
The man didn't dare to move; what if the woman hurt his wife and children?
Seeing that they still hadn't come in, the woman gently slit her own neck with the knife. She felt the blood flowing out and then burst into maniacal laughter!
In her view, her life was over, so she wanted to drag a few others down with her to hell.
