Chapter 214 Zhao Guoqing!

Lu Zhixia noticed that Zhou An'an's expression was a bit strange, so she waved her hand in front of her and found her lost in thought.

"What's wrong?"

"Xiaxia, there's something I don't know, and I'm not sure if I should say it." Zhou An'an decided to speak up, partly because they were friends, and partly because she really couldn't hold back.

“Say what you want to say,” Lu Zhixia said.

Zhou An'an: "It's like this, a truck driver took Song Weidong to the law enforcement team, and he must have been seriously injured."

Lu Zhixia frowned slightly, thinking that Brother Biao released the people quite quickly.

Is he dead?

Zhou An'an concluded from this sentence that her previous thoughts were unnecessary, and that Lu Zhixia would never turn back.

"He shouldn't die."

Lu Zhixia put her arm around her shoulder and said, "I know what happened. Your responsibility is to serve the people. You don't need to feel sorry for me."

Zhou An'an realized he had been misunderstood and quickly explained, "I didn't pay attention to him. I just found an excuse to slip away. I was helping an old lady find her cat, and it took me all afternoon."

I got scolded by my boss when I got back, which is why I wasted time.

Lu Zhixia then realized what was going on. She and Zhou An'an leaned their heads together.

"Thanks, sister! But don't do that again next time. It's your job, and I won't blame you!"

"We're sisters, I have to do this, otherwise I'll be letting you down!"

"Don't do that next time. You have a responsibility. Even if he's a murderer, you have to take responsibility if something happens."

"Xiaxia! You understand me so well."

"We're sisters, I have to understand you!"

At that moment, they laughed.

Lu Zhixia noticed that there were people setting up stalls on the roadside not far away, so she quickly told Xiao Wang, "Pull over to the right, I see someone selling things."

Xiao Wang immediately did as he was told and stopped the car. He was also a little curious about what the man was selling.

Lu Zhixia quickly opened the car door, got out, and went to the vendor. She saw that the basket contained fish, lined with a plastic bag filled with water, so the fish were still alive. Looking at their large bellies, the fish were likely carrying roe, and she saw despair in their eyes.

"Brother, how much is this fish?"

The man immediately launched into a long-winded explanation: "Young lady, you really know your stuff. This fish of mine was just caught recently; the meat is fresh and delicious."

Gu Lingxiao walked over and asked, "How much is this fish?"

"Are you together?" the man asked.

Gu Lingxiao: "That's right, we caught them together. Where did you catch this fish?"

The man pointed ahead, "It's in the reservoir a few miles away. I was lucky today; I just happened to see fish floating on the surface, so I used a fishing net to scoop them up!"

The man was beaming with pride. He had gotten a great deal today; he could make at least seven or eight yuan by selling the fish.

"I won't sell it for less than 8 yuan!"

"Can you deliver that basket?" the two asked in unison.

The man laughed, "You two are really in sync, that's great! Anyway, this basket of mine is a bit old, so the fish will stay fresh in it. You two know your stuff!"

Lu Zhixia took out her wallet from her pocket, counted out 8 yuan, and gave it to the fishmonger.

The man counted the money and said, "Exactly, not too much, not too little, that's perfect, our bill is settled!"

Gu Lingxiao reached out and picked up the fish basket, then waited for Lu Zhixia to turn around and walk alongside her.

The man hummed a song happily, preparing to take the money and have some fun later.

When Xiao Wang saw the team leader bring the basket back, he knew the fish were quite big. He got off the bus to help and saw that the fish inside were huge and still alive.

"Wow, what a big fish! I wonder what kind it is."

There's definitely not enough room in the car, so it can only be placed in the back.

"Drive the car to the reservoir ahead in a bit," Gu Lingxiao said to Xiao Wang.

"Why isn't it eating?" Xiao Wang felt it was a waste to release such a big fish. Then he noticed the fish's belly. "Is it about to lay eggs?"

“That’s right, send the fish over first,” Gu Lingxiao said.

Xiao Wang didn't dare to delay and returned to the driver's seat. After they got in the car, he quickly drove off. He didn't know where the reservoir was, so he could only drive slowly until he saw the reservoir sign before stopping the car.

Lu Zhixia and Gu Lingxiao opened the car door at the same time and got out. Their thoughts coincided; they wanted to release the fish back into the wild.

The fish's desperate eyes seemed to be pleading for its life.

Gu Lingxiao slung his basket over his shoulder, turned to Lu Zhixia and said, "Since we've met, it must be fate!"

Lu Zhixia said, "That's what I thought too. I put it back in the water, just hoping it won't be so silly next time."

They walked together toward the reservoir and soon arrived.

Gu Lingxiao first looked around to make sure no one was there before taking the basket off his back. He looked at the red fish inside and his mouth opened and closed.

"Fish! Fish! Don't let anyone catch you so easily in the future," Lu Zhixia said to the fish.

Gu Lingxiao said, "I think this place should be fine. Just throw it in."

Lu Zhixia looked around and said, "I feel the water here isn't deep, so we should throw it into the deepest part."

Gu Lingxiao pointed with his hand, "Then let's move forward a little."

Lu Zhixia also felt that the water ahead was a bit deeper, so she strode over.

After a few minutes, they reached a suitable spot, and this time they poured the basket into the water together, and the fish instantly fell into the water.

There was a thud.

At first, the red fish didn't react, but when it sensed the familiar presence, it began to swim happily. In its joy, it even performed a few leaps over the dragon gate.
