Chapter 299 Discharge from the Hospital

The man thought to himself, "What a great thing! Someone's giving me milk powder. It looks so white and delicious!" He took the milk powder bag without any hesitation.

"You city folks are so kind-hearted."

The woman said gratefully, "Thank you!"

Cai Wei went over to look at the child placed beside the bed; he was thin and small, like a kitten.

"It wasn't properly cared for in the womb. Go back and feed it more. If it's well-fed when it's young, it will grow up strong."

"I know," the woman said, biting her lip. "I won't be that foolish again."

Cai Wei shook her head and sighed. She couldn't worry about it anymore, so she went back to her room with her husband.

After they left, the man went out of his way to fetch water and then came back to make the milk powder.

The woman held the baby, knowing the baby would soon have food.

The man drank a large bowl of the drink and even licked his lips.

"What are you doing? Are you crazy? That's for the child to eat."

The man curled his lip. "It's just a little milk powder. I've never had it before in my life. What's wrong with letting me have a bowl?"

Ignoring the pain of childbirth, the woman got out of bed and took the bag of baby formula away, afraid that the man would drink it all in one go.

The man pursed his lips. "This stuff tastes so-so, not as good as wine. I'm going back in two more days, so you'd better get well soon!"

The woman looked at him coldly, "I plan to take the baby back to my parents' home to recuperate after childbirth."

The man pulled out a cigarette case from his pocket, randomly picked one out, lit it with a match, took a puff, and completely ignored the child not far away.

"If you go back to your parents' home to recuperate after childbirth, won't my family laugh at you?" Then he walked over step by step, "You really think I wouldn't dare to hit you!"

The woman looked at him with resolute eyes, "Go ahead and kill me if you dare, otherwise I'll have to go back to my parents' house to recuperate after childbirth."

Seeing the woman's intimidating gaze, the man snorted and said, "Even if you want to go back, your sister-in-law might not agree!"

The woman bit her lip again. The reason she didn't bother her family was because she was afraid her new sister-in-law would be unhappy, since her brother had just gotten married.

"I don't care, I want to try."

The man said fiercely, word by word, "Fine, I'll tell your older brother tomorrow that you're going home to recuperate after childbirth!"

The physical pain was nothing compared to the coldness in her heart. When the child started crying again, she could only endure the pain and make formula for the child herself.

Seeing my child drink it and finally stop crying loudly, my heart didn't feel so bad.

——

Cai Wei returned to the house and continued to sigh, "That man is a real scoundrel. If he were my son, I would definitely kick him to death!"

Gu Lingxiao coughed lightly, "Mom, you can't make comparisons like that."

Cai Wei: "Okay, okay, I misspoke."

Then the baby woke up, and they started scrambling to feed the baby and change diapers.

This was the first time Lu Zhixia had seen the babies open their eyes. Both babies were adorable, and she touched her chest, but there was still no milk.

Maybe it will come down tomorrow.

The little one quickly finished his formula and then fell asleep.

Lu Zhixia felt a warm glow inside as she watched them busy themselves; she felt surrounded by happiness.

I drifted off to sleep, and when I woke up again, I heard Su Lan say...

"The oil on top of this chicken soup has been skimmed off, so it's not greasy."

She saw everyone busy at the table again, not just Su Lan.

Lu Yan and Gu Huailin also arrived. They were looking at the child, their expressions of wonder were incredibly cute.

Lu Yan: "I really want to hug you."

Cai Wei: "Then do you know how to hold a child?"

Lu Yan nodded, "I will. I've taken care of my younger siblings before."

Cai Wei then entrusted the child to the caregiver without worry.

Lu Yan held the baby in a standard hugging posture, lowering her head to press her face against the baby's.

Cai Wei was relieved after seeing it. This little girl was well-behaved and sensible, and her bumpy life made her a child who deserved everyone's sympathy.

Gu Huailin didn't dare to hold the child, he only dared to go over and take a look.

"Grandma! Which one is the older brother, and which one is the younger brother?"

“The one with the red string is the older brother,” Cai Wei said.

Then the two little ones stared at the child, trying to find the differences between them.

Lu Yan: "Oh, I see, brother's eyes are double-lidded and his lips are pouty."

Gu Huailin said, "My younger brother has slightly smaller eyes, and there's a faint mole next to them."

After listening, they all gathered around and, based on their descriptions, identified the differences between the children.

"That's right! I didn't see as clearly as you guys!" Cai Wei's mood gradually calmed down. From her daughter-in-law's pregnancy to childbirth, her heart had been in her throat the whole time.

I'm terrified that something bad might happen.

Gu Lingxiao carried the thermos back to the ward and saw them gathered together looking at the child again. Lu Zhixia woke up with bright eyes and her pale face regained some color.

"How are you? Are you feeling unwell?"

"I'm fine, I slept well." Lu Zhixia felt she could sit up comfortably, but the moment she exerted any force, the incision hurt, so she lay back down. "I take back what I said before, this incision really fucking hurts!"

This was the first time Gu Lingxiao had ever heard her swear. "If you bear with it for a couple of days, it won't hurt so much anymore."

Lu Zhixia said, "Don't worry, I'm not that dramatic. I'll just have to bear it! Maybe it's because Grandpa wanted it, but I slept really well and didn't wake up because of the pain from the incision."

Gu Lingxiao: "That's good. As long as you can recover, that's more important than anything else."

Lu Yan carried her younger brother to her mother's side, exclaiming, "He's so cute! I love him so much!"

Lu Zhixia never saw what her daughter looked like when she was a child. She was in a coma for three days and three nights, and when she woke up, the child had been switched.

Touching her daughter's face, she felt she had missed out on so much.
