Cai Wei burst out laughing, "You can eat just by farting!"
Lu Zhixia smiled awkwardly. She hadn't expected to fart so loudly, and then she burped.
"Or I can have some."
Cai Wei turned around, opened the thermos, and used a spoon to scoop millet porridge into a bowl.
"You still have wounds on your body, so eat some millet porridge and eggs first. After a couple of days of rest, you can eat meat."
Lu Zhixia did not refute this. She did indeed have a wound and could not eat meat, mainly because she was afraid of stomach upset.
After drinking a bowl of millet porridge and eating an egg, I didn't want to eat anything else.
"Okay, I'm not eating anymore."
Gu Lingxiao quickly covered her with a blanket, "Then tell me what you want to eat."
Lu Zhixia just felt unbearably hot, "Can I cover myself with fewer blankets in this lifetime?"
Cai Wei said, "No, you can't cover yourself too lightly. Your body is susceptible to wind right now. If you get caught in the wind, you'll experience body aches on rainy days in the future."
Lu Zhixia then thought of the pills her grandfather had made for her, "Can I take those pills now?"
Gu Lingxiao turned around, went to the back to get his bag, opened it, rummaged through it, found a porcelain bottle, and poured out a single grain.
“I remember Grandpa said to take only one pill on the first day.”
"Hmm." Lu Zhixia took the pill and put it in her mouth. Because she ate it too quickly, she missed the bitter taste. When she realized it, her eyes narrowed into slits.
"It's so bitter!"
Gu Lingxiao quickly unwrapped a piece of candy and slipped it to her.
Lu Zhixia tasted the sweetness and then came back to life. "Why didn't Grandpa tell me this medicine was so bitter!"
Gu Lingxiao said, "It was our oversight. We should just try it first."
Lu Zhixia chewed all the candy before she felt that the taste in her mouth was gone.
"Next time I'll eat the candy first, and then take my medicine."
"Hmm." Gu Lingxiao placed a pillow behind her back. "Do you need to go to the bathroom?"
Lu Zhixia: "It's alright, I don't have that idea at the moment."
The doctor came in for rounds, asking, "How is the mother? Has she passed gas?"
Cai Wei went up to her and said, "I've already gone to line up. I just had a bowl of millet porridge and two eggs."
The doctor nodded, then came over, lifted the blanket to examine the patient, found nothing wrong, and then told them...
"Please keep an eye on the bleeding. The mother should not get too excited. You must take good care of her."
Cai Wei: "Of course, I will definitely take good care of my daughter-in-law."
The doctor couldn't help but sigh, thinking how lucky she was to have married the right person; anything was possible. She thought of the couple next door, whose husband's face darkened terribly just because they had a daughter.
"Call me if you need anything!"
"Okay, doctor." Cai Wei saw the person to the door, and just as she closed the door, she heard the child next door crying.
The noise was very loud, so she quickly closed the door and came back to grumble at them.
"That child has been crying all day long, he's got so much energy."
Gu Dongsheng asked, "Is the baby crying like this because there's no milk?"
Cai Wei said, "Logically speaking, it shouldn't be like this. Anyway, she cries a lot. I've been listening to her all afternoon, and I feel like her voice is almost hoarse from crying."
Lu Zhixia couldn't help but look at the two children. They were still sleeping, and the crying was indeed a bit disturbing.
A loud crash from the table next door startled them.
"What happened?" Cai Wei asked.
"Liu Dawei, are you trying to force me to my death?!" came the woman's desperate voice.
That's when they realized something was wrong.
Lu Zhixia: "Are they arguing?"
Cai Wei felt a little sorry for her and said, "I want to go and see what's going on. This woman has just given birth and can't be mistreated; otherwise, she'll suffer from the health problems she develops."
Gu Dongsheng put his arm around his wife's shoulder and said, "I'll go with you to see it."
So they went out.
Gu Lingxiao, still worried, followed him out.
Lu Zhixia wanted to go see him but was too weak, so she could only lie in bed and hear the gist of what was said.
"What woman can give birth without milk? This child is starving, what can I do?" the man cried, expressing his grievances.
The woman said angrily, "I don't have milk because I don't have enough oil and fat. Look at what I eat every day, would you give me anything to eat?"
The man retorted directly, "All you have left is a little girl, what else do you want to eat but dragon meat?"
Cai Wei said, "You can't talk like that. Women should eat well after giving birth, otherwise how can their bodies recover?"
Upon seeing the meddlesome man, he immediately glared, only to meet a pair of murderous eyes. The man was tough; he couldn't afford to offend him, and his tone immediately softened.
“My family is poor, there’s no other way. If we hadn’t come to the hospital to give birth, it would have been fine. This whole ordeal has cost us tens of yuan, and we don’t have any money left to buy her nutritional supplements.”
Seeing the woman crying her heart out, Cai Wei couldn't help but soften. She went back inside to get some milk powder and then took it to them.
"Only one and a half spoonfuls at a time, with about half a bowl of water, is enough for the child."
