Gu Dongsheng leaned closer to look at the child, so moved that tears streamed down his face.
"They look just like when they were born."
“Yes, that’s how I feel too.” Cai Wei took the child and hugged him; she was holding her eldest child.
It was as if the eldest son who had passed away had returned.
Gu Dongsheng held the second child in his arms. The little bundle looked extremely cute, with its eyes slightly open as if it were looking around.
When the hospital gurney was pushed out, Gu Lingxiao immediately reached out to take it. Seeing that Lu Zhixia was still conscious, he was relieved.
"Does it hurt?"
Lu Zhixia nodded. She hadn't expected a C-section to be so painful. It was just less troublesome than a natural birth, but now her whole body was numb with pain.
Gu Lingxiao carefully pushed the cart back to the ward, then gently placed the person on the bed, watching her frown and hiss.
His hair was covered in sweat, which broke his heart. He wished he could take away her pain.
Then the nurse came over to hang an IV drip.
Gu Lingxiao watched without blinking, silently vowing in his heart that this was the last time he would give birth, and he absolutely could not let her suffer like this again.
Cai Wei put the child on the bed, the little one was already asleep, then took the child from her husband's arms and started to soothe the child again.
"Newborn babies are so easy to soothe, they don't cry at all."
Gu Dongsheng said, "I remember they were like this when they were young."
Cai Wei felt a sudden pang of anxiety, but she quickly recovered.
"They do look very similar."
Listening to their conversation, Gu Lingxiao knew they were missing their older brother again.
Lu Zhixia felt a little sleepy and wanted to drift off to sleep, but her wound was still very painful, so she could only endure it.
Gu Lingxiao held her hand and gently massaged it to comfort her. He knew that Lu Zhixia must be in a lot of pain and unable to speak at this moment.
They could only try to make her feel less uncomfortable through body language.
Lu Zhixia felt like those few hours had lasted an eternity. Only after the painkillers took effect did she slowly fall asleep.
Once Gu Lingxiao saw that everyone was asleep, he gently withdrew his hand and then went to check on the two children.
They should look very similar, but they don't look quite alike. The eldest is prettier, and the second is a bit simple-minded.
This was his first impression of his child as a father.
Cai Wei said, "I know you're worried about Xiaxia. Don't worry, just bear with it and it will pass. Let's go home and take good care of her."
Gu Lingxiao said, "I just felt sorry for her seeing her in pain."
Gu Dongsheng patted his son on the shoulder, "No one can survive childbirth. It's good that you know how to cherish people. Don't get angry with others in the future, and treat them better."
Gu Lingxiao: "I will."
When Cai Wei saw that the child was waking up, she quickly picked him up. At this time, she couldn't let the child cry, but as soon as the little child opened his eyes and mouth, he was about to cry.
Although the sound was very soft, Lu Zhixia still heard the child crying.
She opened her eyes and looked into the distance, seeing the child being comforted, before slowly closing her eyes again.
Cai Wei fed her child with the prepared formula, and only after seeing that the little one stopped crying while eating did she smile with relief.
The next second, the other one woke up, and the two of them had to hold one child and breastfeed. The elderly couple sat on the bed, and their actions were exactly the same.
The little one looked adorable drinking milk, and Gu Lingxiao finally felt like a father.
When Gu Huailin came into his hands, he was already quite big and could sit up and eat complementary foods.
This was his first time touching such a young child; he reached out to touch him but was too afraid to.
Cai Wei grabbed her son's hand and placed it on his face, saying, "What's wrong with touching your own son? Touch him if you want!"
Gu Lingxiao felt the smooth skin and an indescribable sensation; this was probably due to their blood relation!
There was no such feeling between him and Gu Bolin. The child was also a man of his own mind, and as he grew older, he became like a little adult.
There was none of the childlike innocence in them.
When Lu Zhixia woke up again, it was already dark. She didn't know how long she had slept, but she saw them eating around the table.
"Water." She didn't feel hungry, but she felt thirsty.
Hearing the sound, Gu Lingxiao knew she was awake. He took a large step, stepped over my father, and came to her side.
Do you want some water?
Lu Zhixia nodded, feeling completely exhausted, as if her body had fallen apart.
Gu Lingxiao poured some warm water into a cup, then lowered his head to drink it and tested the temperature. When he felt it was okay, he gently helped the person up to drink the water.
Lu Zhixia felt that this amount of water was far from enough; it was as if she hadn't drunk anything at all.
"I want more!"
Gu Lingxiao poured another cup, tested the temperature just like last time, and only fed it to her after he thought it was okay.
After drinking the water, Lu Zhixia finally felt less thirsty.
"Where's the child? How is he?"
“They’re doing well, they can sleep well,” Gu Lingxiao said.
When Lu Zhixia heard that the baby was healthy, the corners of her mouth turned up slightly. Now that the baby was born, she was doing well too, and this was the best outcome.
Cai Wei walked over and asked with concern, "Are you hungry?"
Lu Zhixia said, "It's okay, but I feel very tired and exhausted. I don't feel hungry like before."
Cai Wei: "That's because you're tired. Just rest a bit longer."
Gu Lingxiao: "Can we give her something to eat now?"
Cai Wei: "Didn't the doctor just say that I can eat it once I can pass gas?"
As soon as Lu Zhixia heard this, she felt like she had let out a fart, and it was quite loud. Then she looked at them.
"I--"
