Chapter 83 After Chen Xihua reported for duty

Starting in the 1990s, the national college entrance examination pass rate increased. A typical high school in the city has about 20 to 30 classes per grade. There are also several repeat classes in the senior year. The 30-odd classrooms in this building should be just enough.

Further on, there are three four-story teaching buildings, each with six classrooms on each floor. These three buildings are relatively old, arranged in a triangle, and are marked as teaching buildings 1-3.

These are the classrooms for grades 10 and 11. Building 1 is for grade 10, and Building 3 is for grade 11. Building 2 has classes for both grade 10 and 11.

The two sisters quickly arrived at the registration area, where there weren't many people in line.

“Xiao Wu, I’m in Class 1 of Grade 11. My classroom is on the third floor of Building 2.” Chen Xiuhua pointed to one of the teaching buildings and said.

"Fourth sister, I'm in Class 25 of Grade 1, and I think I'm in Building 2 here too." Chen Xihua had just heard her fourth sister's explanation of the class division logic and had done a rough calculation.

In the second year of high school, students are divided into arts and science tracks, and further divided into elite and regular classes. My fourth sister, Chen Xiuhua, is in the elite arts class, the elite class within an elite school. My fourth sister is indeed a little genius.

In the first year of high school, students were randomly assigned to classes. Chen Xihua was assigned to a class near the back, and her classroom was in Building 2, on the first floor.

A dozen minutes later, Chen Xiuhua and Chen Xihua reported for duty and then prepared to go to their dormitories.

The dormitory buildings are located at the back of the campus, with the girls' dormitory on the right. They are all five or six stories high, neither new nor old, consisting of three buildings: A, B, and C.

Each floor has ten dorm rooms, with twelve people living in each room. To the left and right of the entrance are three bunk beds, and at the far end is a balcony and a bathroom with two shower rooms.

The girls in this year's senior year are in dormitory building B, the junior year students are in building A, the freshman year students are in building C, and Chen Xihua is in dormitory C506.

Students stay in the dormitory for three years without moving. They are in the same building when they start high school, and they stay in the same building for the next three years.

The boys' dormitory on the left has both old and new buildings. The old buildings are three or four stories high, and there is also a very new dormitory building, which is nine stories high and looks like it was just built recently.

When Chen Xihua and her sister arrived at C506, there were only two girls inside. "Hello, classmates, my name is Chen Xihua."

The two girls were about fifteen or sixteen years old, with short hair that reached their ears. One had dark skin, and the other was very shy. They both just smiled and nodded without saying a word.

Chen Xihua wasn't embarrassed. High school students at this age are usually quite reserved and not so outgoing. Or like She Niu, who would greet strangers warmly, she was still just a young girl.

Chen Xihua chose the last upper bunk. Chen Xiuhua helped with washing and wiping the bed board, while the other two female classmates were busy with their own things, packing their luggage.

About half an hour later, Chen Xihua and her sister finished packing and went downstairs. Just as they were about to go to their fourth sister's dormitory, Chen Xihua ran into an acquaintance.

"Little Xi, you're at this school too! Hello, Chen." Yang Xiaomei had just come down from dormitory building A when she saw the Chen Xihua sisters. She was overjoyed, almost dancing with excitement. After greeting them, she went straight up and took Chen Xihua's left arm.

Chen Xihua was also very happy to meet Yang Xiaomei, her little ray of sunshine: "Sister Yang, it's been a long time."

"Hello, Yang." Chen Xiuhua greeted her softly and kindly. She knew Yang Xiaomei too; she had come in fourth place in the English preliminary competition years ago.

"Little Xi, shall I take you for a walk around the campus?" Yang Xiaomei was very enthusiastic and wanted to talk to Chen Xihua as soon as she saw her. Moreover, she was even more eager to talk to Chen Xiuhua, the classmate next to her, since she found out that Chen Xiuhua had some connection with Little Xi.

"Fourth Sister, then I won't go to your dorm. It's 408, right? I'll find you later." Chen Xihua also noticed the gossipy look in Sister Yang's eyes.

“Okay.” Chen Xiuhua wasn’t worried at all. She knew that Xiao Wu and this classmate Yang had a good relationship; they had met in Haishi before.

After Chen Xiuhua went to the dormitory, Yang Xiaomei pulled Chen Xihua away and started gossiping.

"Chen Xiuhua is your older sister? I just guessed it. Your sister is really amazing, Xiaoxi, do you know that?"

"Your fourth sister is a genius at our Jiangshi Middle School..." Yang Xiaomei led Chen Xihua to the canteen and then to the teaching building, while constantly revealing all the things that happened when she was in her first year of high school.

The two chatted for half an hour, and Chen Xihua summarized it roughly: When her fourth sister, Chen Xiuhua, was in the first place in every monthly exam during her first year of high school, she was always just a few points away from a perfect score or ten points away from it.

They even pulled ahead of the second-place finisher by ten or twenty points. Both the second and third place finishers were boys: one was Gao Yang, the son of Mr. Gao, the head of the senior high school English group; the other was Ning Wenfeng, the son of Secretary Ning of Jiang City.

Both boys were overshadowed by their fourth sister's grades. Now they are in different classes. Gao Yang is in the humanities and is in Class 2 of Grade 11, while Ning Wenfeng is in the sciences and is in Class 15 of Grade 11.

There are two elite classes for both arts and sciences. After the class division, the top students in the science class are now very happy, as they no longer have to rank with Chen Xiuhua.

They all thought Chen Xiuhua was a freak, a female academic genius, and no matter how hard they tried, they could never catch up with her in exams.

Ning Wenfeng and Gao Yang are both male academic high-achievers, consistently ranking second or third, with little difference between them.

They are mainly tall and handsome boys, the two most popular boys in the same grade, and their families are better off than each other.

These two boys rarely spoke to female classmates, but in their first year of high school, they both asked Chen Xiuhua questions, and even asked her two or three times.

One person asked about science subjects, and the other asked about humanities subjects. For a while, rumors circulated at school that there was definitely something going on between these three; it was probably two guys vying for one girl.

Then, the homeroom teacher spoke with the three of them. It turned out they were comparing whose grades were better. Moreover, the girl, Chen Xiuhua, was a delicate and quiet bookworm. She seemed unresponsive to what others said, as if it had nothing to do with her. Gradually, the classmates stopped gossiping about it.

Chen Xihua listened with great interest. It was nice to relive her high school days. The friendship between male and female classmates was so pure and innocent back then.

"By the way, Xiaoxi, which class are you in?" Yang Xiaomei really wanted to know if it was possible for them to be in the same building.

"Grade 1 (25), in Building 2, the same building as my fourth sister. Sister Yang, you are too, right? You are in the class next to my fourth sister's." Chen Xihua replied with a smile.

“Really? That’s great! I’m in Class 2 of Grade 11. Little Xi, we can play together during breaks.” At this moment, the two of them walked to Building 2.

Yang Xiaomei and Gao Yang are both in the second year of high school (2) class, and they are both English majors.

"Okay." Chen Xihua thought it was just a matter of going to the restroom together.

"Okay, I'll come find you on the first floor after class from now on." Yang Xiaomei said happily, as if she had planned it all out, but then she suddenly stopped in her tracks.

"Class 25? That's the same class as Gao Yang's sister. I saw her when we registered this morning. Gao Yang was there with his sister, and it seems like she's the top student in your first year of high school."

"Little Xi, what's your ranking?" Yang Xiaomei asked Chen Xihua casually after she finished speaking.
