The commotion was so loud that both Ye Linchen and Lin Xuemei were startled.
The two stopped what they were doing and looked towards the door.
A fashionable young woman with curly hair walked in.
She was wearing a red, tight-fitting short-sleeved T-shirt that accentuated her curves.
She wore a pair of trendy dark black flared jeans and red high heels.
Behind her followed a young man in military uniform, struggling to drag two suitcases that were half a person's height.
The curly-haired girl entered the room without even lifting her eyelids. She walked straight to the middle of the dormitory, scanned the room, and finally fixed her gaze on Ye Linchen.
She looked down at Ye Linchen and gave him a direct order.
"Stop messing around. I like this spot. I'm going to live here. Move your things out."
Is this person out of their mind?
Is this just talking to yourself?
Ye Linchen didn't indulge her and refused directly: "No change."
Upon hearing this, the curly-haired girl gave Ye Linchen a disapproving look.
"Why not move? Your spot is by the window, it's well-ventilated and bright, which is more suitable for me."
She gestured with her chin and made her decision.
"How about this, I'll pay for your bed. Name your price."
Ye Linchen coldly replied, "One hundred thousand."
The curly-haired girl was startled and exclaimed, "Are you kidding me? 100,000? I'd buy an apartment right then and there!"
"Don't talk big if you can't produce it," Ye Linchen said disdainfully.
The curly-haired girl was about to say something more indignantly when Lin Xuemei, who was standing next to her, couldn't stand it anymore.
"Didn't Teacher Zhang tell you when you registered that the dormitory beds were assigned in advance, and each bed frame has a name on it? You have to stay according to the name."
The girl glanced at her, then at Ye Linchen, and rolled her eyes.
"What's with the pretense? It's just a shabby bed, so rigid."
The young soldier at the door dragged his suitcase in and pointed to the upper bunk opposite Ye Linchen, saying, "Zhang Tingting, look, your name is here, your bed is over here."
Zhang Tingting glanced at him impatiently and said irritably, "I'm not blind, I can see it! I just don't want to stay in the top bunk, I want to move to the bottom bunk."
The young soldier frowned and said disapprovingly, "Since the school has rules, you should abide by them and follow the rules. Before I came out, the commander specifically instructed me to keep an eye on you and not let you cause trouble."
Zhang Tingting glared at the soldier and cursed, "A bunch of old fogies."
After saying that, he stormed to the lower bunk opposite him and plopped down on it.
The soldier ignored her and got up on the upper bunk by himself.
Ye Linchen had almost finished making his bed. He stood up straight and said to Lin Xuemei, "I'm all done. I'll go buy a lunchbox first, and then we can have lunch together."
Lin Xuemei also felt a bit awkward staying in the dormitory, and when she heard Ye Linchen say this, she immediately nodded in agreement.
"Sure, I'll go with you."
The two talked and ignored Zhang Tingting as they left the dormitory together.
Once in the hallway, Lin Xuemei lowered her voice and said to Ye Linchen, "That Zhang Tingting doesn't seem easy to get along with; she has such a bad temper. Luckily, she doesn't live on the bunk above me, or we'd have a lot to argue about later."
A look of relief appeared on her face.
Ye Linchen also didn't like the girl named Zhang Tingting.
"I remember she wrote 'International Trade' on the registration form, which is not in our department. We'll just have less contact with each other in the future."
Lin Xuemei nodded.
"I bet she won't stay in the dorm for more than a few days. Look at her attitude, she's probably the daughter of a high-ranking official from a military compound. People like her are so arrogant, not to mention her father is a high-ranking officer. She'll probably find the dorm conditions too bad after a few days and then go out to rent a place."
Ye Linchen didn't like talking about others behind their backs, so he just nodded and didn't say anything.
They then changed the subject to something else.
The two chatted and laughed as they walked forward, and soon arrived at the convenience store that Lin Xuemei had mentioned.
There weren't many people buying things at this time. Lin Xuemei stood in front of the shelves, looked around, and made a suggestion to Ye Linchen.
"What else do you need? Let's just buy everything at once. We can take it back after we finish eating, otherwise it will be too crowded here when all the new students arrive later."
"That makes sense."
So Ye Linchen bought a stainless steel lunchbox and a stainless steel spoon.
I bought another plastic basin and two enamel cups.
One is used for drinking water, and the other is used for brushing teeth.
She had a water cup, but she also needed to buy a thermos, so she picked out a red thermos.
In addition to these, Ye Linchen also bought a curtain recommended by Lin Xuemei.
The sizes are all custom-made according to the school's bed specifications, so you can just buy them directly.
Lin Xuemei also remembered that she hadn't bought a thermos yet, so she bought one as well.
The two carried their purchases to the cafeteria.
Ye Linchen found the tap and carefully washed the newly bought lunchbox and spoon before following Lin Xuemei to get the food.
There weren't too many people in the cafeteria, and the two of them were very lucky to both buy the famous sweet and sour pork.
Besides sweet and sour pork, Ye Linchen ordered two vegetarian dishes and two ounces of rice.
Lin Xuemei had a bigger appetite, so she ordered an extra meat dish, two ounces of rice, and a large steamed bun.
After finding an empty seat and sitting down, Lin Xuemei looked at the bland dishes in Ye Linchen's lunchbox, pushed her full lunchbox in front of Ye Linchen, and said, "I have more dishes, you can try mine."
Ye Linchen liked Lin Xuemei's cheerful personality and was willing to be her friend.
