Chapter 10 Even More Unexpected People

The woman holding the dog had already reached out to shake hands with Ye Qing, but upon hearing Xi Quan's irritating words, she withdrew her hand.

Ye Qing said, "Yes, he's from the same hometown."

Xi Quan asked again, "When did you become a college student? Full-time? It's not night school, is it?"

"No, no, it was a legitimate admission. I don't usually accept students, but I only accepted her after seeing her admission notice," Sister Zhang explained on Ye Qing's behalf.

After saying that, Zhang Jie took the opportunity to say, "Since we are acquaintances, I will consider this fabric a gift from me to Miss Xi."

The woman referred to as Miss Xi was the customer who was carrying the dog. Before she could say anything, Xi Quan spoke up again: "What's the point of giving anything away? It's not your fault. She insisted on running around with the dog. Not a penny less. If you want more, just let me know."

As he spoke, Xi Quan tore a piece of paper from the back of his notebook, wrote down his contact information, and handed it to Ye Qing: "If she dares to extort money from you, tell me."

Ye Qing took the note Xi Quan handed her, hesitated for a moment, and then put it in her pocket.

Miss Xi, who was holding the dog, glanced at Ye Qing and Xi Quan before speaking, "Ye Qing, right? Hello, my name is Xi Yue."

Ye Qing shook hands with Xi Yue with neither arrogance nor servility: "My name is Ye Qing."

"Now that we know each other, I'll ask you to take my measurements when I need clothes made in the future."

Ye Qing glanced at the boss, Sister Zhang.

Xi Yue is a big customer of the store, spending money there every quarter. Sister Zhang was overjoyed to hear Xi Yue's words and nodded to Ye Qing.

Seeing that Sister Zhang nodded, Ye Qing smiled and said, "If Miss Xi doesn't mind, I'm willing. But as you may have heard, school is about to start, and as a student, my time may be limited."

"That's alright. If I need anything, I'll contact you on the weekend."

Having said that, Ye Qing had no choice but to agree.

Xi Quan looked at Ye Qing thoughtfully. He had initially thought Ye Qing was just a pitiful girl, and out of compassion, he had helped her out of the ordinary.

Who knew it wasn't a docile rabbit, but a cat with sharp claws that could seize any opportunity? Interesting.

Xi Quan kept staring at Ye Qing, while Xi Yue stared thoughtfully at Xi Quan, finding the situation quite interesting.

Xi Quan originally came to see Xi Yue. After Xi Yue took his measurements and explained his requirements to Sister Zhang, he left.

Although Ye Qing had Xi Quan's contact information, she never contacted him because although they knew each other, they weren't really close.

They thought the two would hardly have any contact again, but unexpectedly, just before the National Day holiday at the end of September, Xi Yue took the initiative to contact Ye Qing, saying that she wanted Ye Qing to come to her house to take her measurements, as she wanted to have new clothes made.

Ye Qing had no choice but to agree, and Sister Zhang had also said that she had discussed the design with Xi Yue.

Xi Yue's family lived in a large courtyard, a two-story red brick building. Not to mention the house itself, the courtyard alone was something many people dreamed of but could never enter. In fact, back in Xiaoyao Village, everyone said that Xi Quan's father's family was very well-off, and it was a pity that he stayed in Xiaoyao Village instead of returning to the city.

Ye Qing had only heard about it from adults, and now she understood that it was a real pity about Xi Quan's father.

Although it was a pity, Ye Qing knew that this was a matter from her previous life, and she had no right to express her opinion.

Moreover, there were other things that distracted Ye Qing.

I thought it was just a normal door-to-door service relationship, but who knew that I would see Xi Quan's mother, Quan Zhen, at Xi Yue's house!

Upon seeing Quan Zhen, Ye Qing immediately lowered her head. Before Xi Quan's mother and father divorced, whenever Xi Quan's mother, Quan Zhen, returned to Xiaoyao Village, she would always speak rudely and unkindly to Ye Qing's mother.

Although Ye Qing was grateful to Xi Quan, she did not want to repay kindness with evil, and she also changed her opinion of Xi Quan's mother, so she tried to minimize her presence.

But even though Ye Qing is such a grown woman standing in the living room, Xi Yue, the person who invited her, always introduces her.

Ye Qing knew she had no choice but to greet people, but out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Xi Quan's mother, Quan Zhen, with a furrowed brow. Ye Qing sighed inwardly, hoping that Quan Zhen wouldn't lose her composure here as she had in Xiaoyao Village.

She just hadn't expected that, despite being mentally prepared to face Quan Zhen, Xi Yue wouldn't introduce Quan Zhen to Ye Qing.

Although puzzled, Ye Qing didn't pay it any mind and followed Xi Yue upstairs. Just as she was about to take a step, Ye Qing heard Quan Zhen speak with a smile: "Yueyue, this girl's name is Ye Qing, right? Is she from our Nancheng?"

Since the question was directed at Xi Yue, and judging from Quan Zhen's tone, it seemed like she didn't recognize him, Ye Qing tried to recall. It seemed that when Quan Zhen last returned to Xiaoyao Village, he was either eight or nine years old. It had been almost ten years, so it was possible that Quan Zhen didn't recognize him. There was no need for him to go out of his way to greet her, so Ye Qing remained silent.

She was thinking about how Xi Yue should greet Quan Zhen after introducing herself.

To everyone's surprise, Xi Yue's attitude towards Quan Zhen was not very good: "What does this have to do with you? Aunt Quan, as you can see, I have something to do, and I'm all alone at home, so I won't entertain you."

"It's okay, you go ahead with your work, I'll wait for Xi Quan." Quan Zhen didn't seem to be hurt by Xi Yue's attitude at all, and didn't mind.

Xi Yue said, "As I just said, Xi Quan usually doesn't come back here. You won't be able to wait for him. You're my brother's biological mother, but my brother doesn't even answer your calls. Don't you know why?"

Hearing Xi Yue say this, Ye Qing glanced at Quan Zhen cautiously and noticed that Quan Zhen's calm face was always a little cracked. She quickly lowered her head and maintained her low profile.

To Ye Qing's utter surprise, Quan Zhen stopped talking to Xi Yue and instead asked him, "Ye Qing, right?"

Ye Qing could no longer remain silent. She raised her head, looked at Quan Zhen, and smiled at her: "Hello, my name is Ye Qing."

Quan Zhen asked kindly, "Are you from Nancheng?"

Xi Yue frowned and stepped between Ye Qing and Quan Zhen: "What's it to you?"

Although Xi Yue's attitude seemed to be helping him, and although Ye Qing didn't want to greet Quan Zhen, Ye Qing couldn't be as hostile to Quan Zhen as Xi Yue was. So he moved two steps to the side from behind Xi Yue so that he could see Quan Zhen: "I'm not from Nancheng."

"No? Where are you from?" Quan Zhen raised an eyebrow, as if explaining why she seemed a bit abrupt: "I didn't mean anything by it, it's just that you look a lot like a friend I used to know. Since that friend passed away, I was wondering if you were related to that friend..."

Having said all that, Ye Qing, though not quite understanding what Quan Zhen meant, could tell that she was determined to confirm whether he was someone she knew.
