Chapter 11 A Series of Unexpected Events

Rather than letting Quan Zhen say it, Ye Qing decided to admit it herself. She smiled and said to Quan Zhen, "If I remember correctly, you are Aunt Quan. The last time I saw you, I was still young, and you looked just as young as before. I didn't even recognize you."

After Ye Qing finished speaking, she noticed that Quan Zhen's face had lost its previous amiability and friendliness, and suddenly became somewhat cold. Although she hid it well, Ye Qing still saw Quan Zhen give a barely perceptible sneer.

This actually made Ye Qing feel a little relaxed. This was the Quan Zhen she remembered. The kind aunt from before seemed to be just an illusion.

Ye Qing hadn't heard Quan Zhen's voice yet, and since she thought she had already greeted him, Quan Zhen's attitude wasn't really her concern. So Ye Qing looked at Xi Yue, wanting to ask if they were starting to take measurements now.

Before Xi Yue could give her a response, Ye Qing heard Quan Zhen ask him in a much colder voice than before, "You came to Nancheng to work? What kind of work?"

Just as Ye Qing was about to answer, she saw Quan Zhen staring at the tape measure and the notebook in her hand, and thought that she probably already knew.

Just as Ye Qing had guessed, Quan Zhen asked and answered himself, "A tailor? Which shop?"

Xi Yue had never been nice to Quan Zhen, and seeing Quan Zhen like this, she pulled Ye Qing upstairs.

Ye Qing glanced apologetically at Quan Zhen and followed Xi Yue upstairs.

In fact, Ye Qing was quite happy and relaxed. After all, Quan Zhen had made it so obvious that he didn't like her, and Ye Qing had at least shown some politeness, so there was no need to say anything more.

While taking Xi Yue's measurements, Ye Qing heard Xi Yue ask, "You still know Quan Zhen?"

Ye Qing paused for a moment and said, "I'm from Xiaoyao Village. She was an educated youth sent to the countryside from Xiaoyao Village. Although she had already returned to the city when I was born, she would still visit me often afterward, so we've met."

Xi Yue suddenly realized: "Look at my brain, last time, Xi Quan said you were from the same hometown."

After saying that, Xi Yue remembered something and said, "Be careful. She came to see Xi Quan this time, but Xi Quan avoided seeing her. He was so enthusiastic when he saw you. I think something must be going on."

Upon hearing Xi Yue's words, Ye Qing remained silent for a moment before looking up at Xi Yue in a daze. After a while, she said, "Even if something happens, it has nothing to do with me. I'm nobody, I just know them."

Actually, Xi Yue meant well. She disliked Quan Zhen and felt that it was all because of Quan Zhen that her uncle, Xi Quan's father, died young.

However, upon hearing Ye Qing's words, he realized that he might have been a bit too nervous. What Quan Zhen wanted to do really had nothing to do with Ye Qing.

After taking the measurements, Xi Yue warmly invited Ye Qing to stay for dinner, but Ye Qing politely declined. After all, they weren't close, and their relationship was just that of clients. It seemed inappropriate for her to stay for dinner. More importantly, Xi Yue had a gossipy look on her face and kept bringing up Xi Quan with Ye Qing, clearly indicating that she had misunderstood something.

To avoid further misunderstanding, Ye Qing would absolutely not stay for dinner.

After leaving, Ye Qing gave Xi Yue's measurements to the shop owner, Sister Zhang, and then went back to school. As for how to make the clothes and what style to make, if the shop owner needed Ye Qing's help, she would ask Ye Qing; if she didn't ask Ye Qing, Ye Qing wouldn't proactively ask for anything.

Because Sister Zhang's tailor shop makes or alters cheongsams, it's a family tradition.

Although most people who have studied tailoring know how a cheongsam is generally made, some traditional garments have their own unique secrets, such as recipes.

Ye Qing is an outsider, and the boss doesn't want Ye Qing to know, which Ye Qing understands, and she also knows how to maintain a proper distance.

So after taking Xi Yue's measurements, Ye Qing didn't go to the tailor shop much, except for a few times when Sister Zhang was too busy.

So Ye Qing spent the entire National Day holiday studying at school.

On the first day after the National Day holiday, Ye Qing returned to her dormitory after class. Before she even reached the dormitory entrance, she saw a familiar person standing downstairs. After a moment of surprise, Ye Qing quickly turned around to avoid her.

But he was still a step too late. The other person saw Ye Qing and ran over to grab him, saying, "I've been waiting for you for ages. Why did you run away as soon as you saw me?"

The one pulling Ye Qing was Xu Ying, Ye Qing's uncle's daughter and Xi Quan's ex-wife.

Ye Qing glanced around, then at Xu Ying, who was clearly dressed up. Facing the male students looking over, Xu Ying even smiled shyly. Ye Qing felt a wave of disgust, shook off Xu Ying, and coldly asked, "How did you find me here?"

Instead of answering Ye Qing's question, Xu Ying stared at Ye Qing for a moment and said with dissatisfaction, "You still have the nerve to talk? I didn't realize you were so capable, Ye Qing. Didn't my parents stop you from going to school a long time ago? How did you manage to sneak into university? Where did you get the money?"

Ye Qing had no intention of saying much to Xu Ying, and as for money, he didn't want to talk about it either. However, Ye Qing was also very dissatisfied with Xu Ying's attitude: "What do you mean by sneaking around? I'm doing this openly, not stealing or robbing. As for you, how did you find me, and what do you want with me?"

Seeing that Xu Ying still seemed to have a lot of grievances to vent, Ye Qing didn't give her a chance to speak: "Your parents are out? Do they know you're in Nancheng?"

Hearing Ye Qing mention her parents, Xu Ying became even angrier, but she stopped arguing with Ye Qing because her parents hadn't come out yet.

"I'm out of money, give me some."

Hearing Xu Ying's self-righteous words, Ye Qing laughed in anger: "On what grounds?"

"Because my parents raised you to this age!"

"Did your parents raise you, or am I just lucky to have survived so many times? As for money? How did my mother die? Does she have a bad memory?" Ye Qing said sarcastically. Although she knew her cousin's personality well, she was still amazed that she could be so shameless after so many things had happened.

Seeing Ye Qing's attitude, Xu Ying knew that Ye Qing didn't want to pay. She said, "I heard that you are working in a tailor shop or somewhere, or you make clothes for rich people. You must be making a lot of money. Why are you so stingy? You can only earn money again if you lose it."

"Then why don't you go earn it yourself?" Ye Qing retorted irritably. Then, remembering Xu Ying's words earlier, she belatedly realized something: "How did you know I work in a tailor shop?"

"Isn't that right? Ye Qing, let me tell you, don't try to fool me. I've had someone check it out..." Xu Ying acted like a dead pig that wasn't afraid of boiling water: "You have to pay me today, whether you want to or not. If you don't pay, I'll make a scene at your school and then we'll see who loses face."

As soon as she finished speaking, Ye Qing saw that Xu Ying was about to collapse to the ground, clearly determined to make a scene and threaten suicide.

Just as Ye Qing was about to say something, she caught a glimpse of someone standing next to her out of the corner of her eye, and she subconsciously swallowed her words.
