Chapter 60 Panic and Confusion

Seeing that Liu Wei seemed only surprised and didn't understand what he meant after he finished speaking, Ye Qing didn't bother to explain to Liu Wei and just looked at her with a half-smile.

Admittedly, Liu Wei didn't know what Ye Qing meant by those words, but she could tell that there was something more to them. Thinking about what she had done, she quickened her pace and caught up with Ye Qing.

Ye Qing glanced at Liu Wei, who was tugging at his arm. She looked like a vicious dog that might attack at any moment. Ye Qing wondered if she had finally stopped hiding her thoughts.

Ye Qing gave a cold laugh and raised an eyebrow at Liu Wei, as if asking what was wrong.

Perhaps it was the sharp edge in his sneer, but Ye Qing noticed that Liu Wei's expression changed visibly. If she was a vicious dog that would attack at any moment, she was now like a lapdog, smiling obsequiously at Ye Qing.

Ye Qing smiled again and said, "Liu Wei, everyone knows very well what they have done."

Ye Qing hadn't planned to say anything more to Liu Wei, and coincidentally, she ran into one of their teachers. After talking to the teacher, Ye Qing went straight into the office building without waiting for Liu Wei.

The two women had just arrived at the door of their professor's office when the professor came out, holding a file folder. He glanced at them and said, "Come with me."

Because of Ye Qing's previous attitude, Liu Wei was already feeling very uneasy. Now that the teacher was silent and extremely serious, Liu Wei felt even more flustered.

Liu Wei wanted to stop Ye Qing and ask him more, but with the teacher in front, she was afraid that she might be overthinking things.

Ye Qing remained calm and composed. Glancing at Liu Wei's nervous expression out of the corner of his eye, he had no intention of saying anything to Liu Wei but "If only you had known then what you know now!"

After arriving at the department head's office with different mindsets, the teacher got straight to the point, without saying a word, and directly took out a design manuscript: "Liu Wei, because you submitted it relatively late, after the deadline yesterday, yours was the first thing I wanted to see. Tell me about your design concept."

Ye Qing glanced at the design manuscript that the teacher had placed on the table, then looked at Liu Wei. Seeing that Liu Wei's face was pale, Ye Qing looked away.

"It's a denim jacket with a batwing design."

The teacher nodded: "Yes, it's written on your design draft. What I mean is, what is your design concept?"

“The concept…” Liu Wei lowered her eyes and stared intently at the design manuscript with her name on it, biting her nails. She seemed to be racking her brains, but in fact she couldn’t think of anything at all. If she had known in advance why her teacher had asked her to come, she would definitely have thought about it carefully.

But this happened so suddenly that Liu Wei was completely unprepared. Although she had wondered on the way here whether they would ask her about the design draft, she was still hoping for the best.

Now……

After waiting a while, seeing that Liu Wei stammered but didn't say much, the teacher said, "Ye Qing, you speak."

Ye Qing spoke at length about why she had such a design concept; in fact, she had memorized it deeply the first time she heard it.

Hearing Ye Qing say this, Liu Wei turned ashen-faced and roughly understood what had happened today. However, plagiarism was a major taboo, and Liu Wei did not want to give up just like that. Moreover, she thought that since Ye Qing had not submitted the design draft, she still had a chance.

After Ye Qing finished speaking, he noticed Liu Wei's incredulous expression and roughly guessed what Liu Wei was thinking. Ye Qing pretended not to know anything and asked, "Liu Wei, what's wrong? Did I say something wrong?"

"Of course, that was my initial thought, and I mentioned it in the dorm."

Ye Qing smiled but didn't say anything after hearing this, then turned to look at the teacher.

The teacher frowned and asked Liu Wei, "When were you explaining your design concept in your dorm room?"

"It was... a couple of days ago..." Liu Wei stammered.

"The day before yesterday? Which day exactly? Please be more specific about the time."

"It was...it was the day before yesterday."

The teacher slammed the file folder on the table with a bang, glaring angrily at the department head: "Department head, look at this..."

Seeing this, Liu Wei became even more nervous. She glanced cautiously at Ye Qing and then asked him in a low voice, "Did you submit your design draft?"

Ye Qing did not answer Liu Wei, because the teacher and the department head had both heard what Liu Wei said.

The department head said angrily, "What does this have to do with whether Ye Qing submits the design draft or not? Do you know that a clothing factory has already started producing the design you drew?"

Liu Wei's heart was already in her throat, but she still held onto a sliver of hope. Now, hearing the department head's words, her hands and feet turned ice-cold. "Which factory?"

Neither the teacher nor the department head answered Liu Wei's question. Instead, the department head asked Ye Qing first: "I told you before, even though it was just a sketch you drew casually, and even though Zitai Fashion has already started making patterns and mass production, if someone sees this sketch and uses it before their clothes even go on sale, our school will be in a very passive position. What happened to you? Yesterday you said you lost your sketch, and I reminded you of that. How could you..."

Liu Wei was already devastated when she was discovered to have plagiarized a new style that a clothing factory was going to produce. She never expected that the clothing factory that was going to produce it would be Zitai Fashion.

This school selection was a collaboration project with Zitai Fashion, and now they've gotten themselves into serious trouble.

Ye Qing readily admitted her mistake: "It was my fault. My basic skills aren't good, and I just thought it would be good to practice more. So, when Zitai Fashion held its new product launch a while ago, I saw the models showcasing their clothes and casually sketched them out. But I absolutely didn't let anyone see it. After I lost it, I immediately told my teacher and asked how serious it was. Who would have thought..."

Upon hearing this, Liu Wei suddenly realized that Ye Qing's anxious search for something yesterday was just a pretense.

The department head waved his hand, signaling Ye Qing to stop talking. He asked Liu Wei, "I'm asking you one last time, what exactly is going on with this manuscript?"

At first, Ye Qing thought that Liu Wei might have just drawn a copy of the picture that he had deliberately shown her.

However, when the teacher brought out Liu Wei's entry for the competition and questioned her, Ye Qing realized that Liu Wei hadn't drawn it herself; the entry she submitted was actually the one she had drawn.

In other words, Liu Wei stole Ye Qing's sketch and handed it over directly. If there was any part of her writing, it was probably her own name.

Ye Qing originally thought that even if Liu Wei plagiarized, she would at least make some minor changes, but she didn't expect that Liu Wei didn't change a single thing. Moreover, seeing how serious the teacher and the department head were, Ye Qing felt that she had to clarify, so she said before Liu Wei: "This manuscript should be the one I lost."
