Chapter 605 A Name That's Hard to Explain

Ye Qing swallowed hard, trying to ignore the name Xi Quan had just mentioned. She was even willing to admit she was deaf, but Xi Quan solemnly repeated the name Ye Yixin had given her younger sister: "Wanfu, the name the older sister gave to the younger sister."

After confirming the name again, Ye Qing's expression was indescribable.

If someone else's child had this name, Ye Qing might not be able to help but laugh. However, since this name belongs to her own child, Ye Qing doesn't know whether to laugh or cry; her feelings are simply indescribable.

But judging from Xi Quan's expression, he clearly approves of the name.

Although Ye Qing didn't intend to favor either child, the fact remains that this newborn definitely requires more attention.

Therefore, I felt that things hadn't reached the point where they couldn't be changed, so I thought about fighting for the rights that the youngest child still had.

After silently organizing her thoughts, Ye Qing slowly asked, "Why did you choose such a name? When was it chosen? I don't know about it."

“When I was whispering with my daughter,” Xi Quan said, “I called the kids again when I got back just now and promised them that I would bring them to see you and your sister as soon as possible.”

Ye Qing's main point was why she chose the name "Wanfu," but it was clear that Xi Quan was avoiding the main issue.

Since Xi Quan was feigning ignorance, Ye Qing felt she should be more direct: "Ye Yiran and Ye Yixin grew up abroad. Although they don't have much trouble speaking Chinese now, they still don't quite understand the meaning of many things. Ye Yixin gave the child such a name, didn't you stop her? The child is too young to understand now, but aren't you afraid the child will have some thoughts about it when they grow up?"

After Ye Qing finished speaking, she still had many questions. She thought for a moment and muttered to herself, "Although Ye Yixin's Chinese is not bad now, it's only not bad. I wouldn't be surprised if she named her younger sister after a flower, a grass, or even a dog or a cat, but why did she name her Wanfu (meaning 'ten thousand blessings')..."

The words "May you have ten thousand blessings" gave Ye Qing a feeling she couldn't quite describe. They were too serious and solemn, so serious that they even seemed a bit rigid.

Although Ye Qing was talking to himself, Xi Quan heard him. He touched his nose embarrassedly, his eyes darting away.

Ye Qing hadn't thought much of it at first, but when she inadvertently noticed Xi Quan's expression, she asked, "Do you know what's going on?"

"I'm not really sure either, but I heard it from my son, so I can guess what it is." Xi Quan still didn't dare to look at Ye Qing.

Ye Qing felt increasingly suspicious and asked, "What exactly is going on?"

Xi Quan glanced guiltily at Ye Qing, then quickly looked away before slowly speaking, "My son told me that in kindergarten, there's a classmate whose family has a younger brother or sister named Wangcai..."

After saying that, she glanced guiltily at Ye Qing before quietly finishing her sentence: "From what I heard, the so-called younger brother and sister seem to be the family's pet dog, so..."

Ye Qing suddenly realized that, in that case, Wangcai must be the name of a dog!

But even though she understood, Ye Qing became even angrier. "Ye Yiran and Ye Yixin grew up abroad and their Chinese isn't very good, fine, but what about you? They gave the child the ridiculous name Wanfu, and you didn't stop them? You really are..."

Ye Qing didn't know what to say, and the more she thought about it, the angrier she became: "Wangcai, Wanfu? Heh, they're quite neat and symmetrical. Xi Quan, even if you're good to Ye Yixin, there should be a limit. She's your daughter. Isn't the newborn baby your daughter too? Are you still treating her differently?"

Seeing that Ye Qing was angry and had subtly brought up the topic of why they were in a cold war, Xi Quan quickly explained, "I didn't treat them differently. It's just that the two children have been staying at their grandfather's house and I haven't seen them for a few days. The name Wanfu was mentioned to me over the phone. Since we didn't meet in person, I couldn't directly refuse the children, so that's why I discussed it with you."

Ye Qing sneered and remained silent. Discuss? She was the one who brought up the topic of naming earlier, and Xi Quan hadn't said anything if she hadn't brought it up.

Although Ye Qing was unhappy, she wasn't particularly angry. She just felt that Xi Quan was being too unprincipled in his attempt to please his daughter.

"What name do you think would be better? We can't let Xinbao be too disappointed, can we?" Xi Quan asked cautiously when he saw that Ye Qing's emotions had calmed down and she was no longer fluctuating so much.

Ye Qing glanced at Xi Quan sideways, but didn't answer him immediately.

Thinking about how Xi Quan called Ye Yixin "Xinbao" earlier, Ye Qing usually calls Ye Yiran and Ye Yixin by their full names, or more affectionately, "Ranran" and "Xinxin".

However, when Xi Quan calls his son Ye Yiran, he does so in almost the same way as Ye Qing, affectionately calling him "Ranran." But when facing his daughter Ye Yixin, Xi Quan is all gentle and tender, calling her "Xinbao," revealing his doting father nature.

Ye Qing had long been used to Xi Quan's attitude towards the children, but now, listening to his words, and fearing that Ye Yixin would be unhappy, her tone suddenly made Ye Qing a little jealous. She said irritably, "Ye Yixin calls him Xinbao, so why can't the little one be called Fubao?"

Her attitude made Xi Quan very uneasy. He didn't treat her differently, after all, Ye Yixin was older and they spent more time together and could communicate with Xi Quan. The younger one was just born, so she would definitely have more feelings for the older one.

Before he could explain, Xi Quan heard Ye Qing say the child's nickname in a "accusatory" tone. He thought it was a good name and immediately said, "Let's call her Fu Bao. From the time you got pregnant to the time she was born, you went through a lot. This nickname has a very good meaning."

Still somewhat emotional, Ye Qing was deeply moved upon hearing Xi Quan's words. After a moment of silence, she said, "That's his nickname. What's his formal name?"

"Xi Yike, I guess."

To be honest, after hearing the words "Wanfu" (meaning "ten thousand blessings"), Ye Qing had almost given up hope that Xi Quan would give their child a proper name. She never expected that he would actually put his mind to it so seriously.

The character "珂" has a good meaning, so Ye Qing had no reason to object and acquiesced.

But the two children still longed for the name "Wanfu". Ye Qing raised her eyebrows and said to Xi Quan in a huff, "You told Ye Yixin that your sister's name is Fubao, not Wanfu."

"What do you mean?" Xi Quan was a little surprised and reluctant. He didn't want to disappoint his daughter. He wanted Ye Qing to bring up the name first. He was originally waiting for the child to arrive so he could say "Wanfu" and then have Ye Qing refuse.

Unexpectedly, Ye Qing mentioned the name first, and now she wants him to refuse his daughter. Xi Quan is very hesitant.

Ye Qing glanced at Xi Quan's dejected expression and retorted, "You're the one who went to tell me, why do you expect me to?"
