Chapter 626 If Only I Had Known

Babies under one month old have little consciousness. Although Xi Yike cried just now, she probably doesn't even know what she did.

Sometimes it's just a coincidence.

Just like now, Ye Yixin walked over to Ye Qing to play with her younger sister, and coincidentally, Xi Yike raised her foot and kicked Ye Yixin.

Although she wasn't very strong, Ye Yixin was caught off guard and actually stumbled a bit.

Ye Qing couldn't help but laugh. Although having more children made things a bit noisy and chaotic, Ye Qing thought that happiness outweighed the troubles.

After Xi Quan finished eating and played with the children for a while, the two older children, Ye Yixin and Ye Yiran, went to bed. Xi Yike was in good spirits, so Ye Qing didn't rush to put her to sleep. After all, the child was young and it was difficult for her to sleep through the night. If she went to bed early, she would wake up early, which would be too much of a struggle for the adults.

So after the two older children went to sleep, Ye Qing put Xi Yike on the big bed in her and Xi Quan's bedroom, letting her lie down and play by herself, while Ye Qing leaned against the bed and watched TV.

After finishing his work, Xi Quan came over and lay down on either side of Xi Yike with Ye Qing. Looking at the child, Xi Quan couldn't help but sigh that his daughter was really beautiful. Although she was not yet a month old, it was already clear that she was going to be a beauty.

Ye Qing, who was watching TV, couldn't help but scoff when she heard Xi Quan's mutterings: "Narcissism is also a family trait. Hearing you say that, I understand why Ye Yixin said she was a narcissistic fairy."

Ye Qing had almost forgotten about this little incident, but Xi Quan's muttering to himself reminded her of it, so she couldn't help but tease Xi Quan a few times.

"Isn't that right?" Xi Quan raised an eyebrow and looked at Ye Qing.

That expression reminded Ye Qing of how Ye Yixin had asked Ye Yiran with a sob in her voice earlier. When Ye Yiran explained why Ye Yixin was crying, Ye Yixin, unsure how to respond, had asked the same question in a huff.

The two had almost identical expressions, and even the curve of their raised eyebrows was the same.

Ye Qing smiled, feeling as if many of her emotions had been released, and she was no longer as conflicted and resentful as before. The most prominent change was in her attitude towards Aunt Zhang.

Originally, Ye Qing was thinking of asking Xi Quan what had happened because he returned late from the hospital today. Although Aunt Zhang gave a general account on the phone, Ye Qing knew that it was definitely not the whole story.

Although Ye Qing was watching TV just now, she was actually thinking about how to ask Xi Quan a question later, but now Ye Qing felt that she was not so angry anymore.

Ye Yixin and Xi Quan look so alike because they are father and daughter. Genetics is a mysterious thing, so it's normal for them to resemble each other.

However, Ye Yixin was his own child, and at this moment, Ye Qing felt a strong sense of kinship with them.

Although Ye Qing knew they were family before, especially Xi Quan, it seemed that at this moment, seeing the similarities between the child and the two of them, this connection seemed to be something that nothing could sever.

Now that she has family members she can rely on and share joys and sorrows with, Ye Qing's expectations for Zhang Sao as a relative seem to be much lower.

Of course, not having high expectations doesn't mean Ye Qing doesn't want to acknowledge Zhang Sao anymore.

Ye Qing had already accepted Zhang Sao in her heart.

Today, because of Zhang Sao's attempt to sneak out of the hospital without permission, Ye Qing kept thinking that this was her own mother, her own family member, so why were there always so many troubles? Although it wasn't anything malicious, it was getting quite annoying as the incidents kept happening.

Ye Qing even wondered why her family was like this.

Now Ye Qing feels that she can tolerate Zhang Sao's imperfections, because her family is not just her, and there is no need to dwell on many trivial matters. Xi Quan and the children seem to be more important.

Xi Quan didn't hear Ye Qing's reply. He watched as Ye Qing seemed to be deep in thought after laughing. Although he was curious about why Ye Qing had laughed, Xi Quan didn't ask.

He thought Ye Qing might have thought of Zhang Sao.

Xi Quan had originally thought that Ye Qing would ask about Zhang Sao as soon as he returned, but he didn't. At that time, he could say that he was too busy with the children to ask.

The two older children are asleep now, and the younger one is quietly trying to touch her own feet, having a great time playing by herself.

The two had a brief moment of leisure, which seemed like a good opportunity to talk.

Although Xi Quan didn't want Ye Qing to think too much, since Ye Qing already knew about Zhang Sao's matter, it didn't seem appropriate to say nothing and pretend that he knew nothing at all.

After hesitating for a moment, Xi Quan spoke first, asking Ye Qing, "Sister Zhang, she..."

Before Xi Quan could even finish speaking, Ye Qing understood what he meant and said, "Isn't she now in the hospital with peace of mind? That's good. I can't go out now, and I can't see her. There's no point in saying anything. Let her do what she wants. I talked to her a lot on the phone. Although I said those things in anger, hoping she would listen, now that I think about it, it wasn't entirely sarcastic. I'm wondering if I'm asking too much of her. After all, she's so old. There are some hardships she might really not be able to bear."

Xi Quan didn't ask Ye Qing why she thought that way, but in fact, Xi Quan agreed with Ye Qing's idea.

He knew that Ye Qing had forgiven Zhang Sao and was no longer pursuing the past, but as for how much affection Ye Qing still had for Zhang Sao, it was hard to say.

So-called forgiveness means accepting the fact that she is his biological mother. As for feelings, they are not that deep, after all, they did not live together. Ye Qing is now a mother herself. Many things cannot be cultivated just by wanting to. However, Ye Qing is still grateful for everything that Aunt Zhang has done for him.

Or perhaps it was out of gratitude that Ye Qing forgave Zhang Sao.

Although Xi Quan could guess the complex emotions Ye Qing was going through, since he had gone to the hospital, there were some things he needed to discuss with Ye Qing.

Of course, Xi Quan didn't tell Ye Qing that Zhang Sao had accidentally been tricked into revealing a lot about Huang Fei at the hospital. Xi Quan only talked about Zhang Sao's physical recovery.

After hearing what Xi Quan said, Ye Qing felt much more at ease. Although he told Zhang Sao to do whatever she wanted, Ye Qing was happy that she could focus on her rehabilitation.

Amidst the daily commotion of the children, Ye Qing and Xi Yike reached their one-month milestone, and the Lunar New Year was just around the corner.

The doctor on Zhang's side said that her recovery is much better than before and she can be discharged before the Chinese New Year.

Since the temporary caregiver that Ye Qing and Xi Quan hired had already left, and Aunt Zhang could still help when she returned, she would naturally return to Ye Qing's side after being discharged from the hospital.

Ye Qing was originally going to pick up Aunt Zhang from the hospital, but the nanny left and there was no one to look after the children at home, so Huang Fei went alone.

If Ye Qing had known she would be called out, she probably would have taken the child with her to the hospital to pick up Aunt Zhang from discharge.
