Chapter 212: Telling My Wife

Lu Fangfang slept at home until the afternoon.

After getting up and washing her face, she fed the chickens and quails in the house.

She's been very busy these days, and there's not much food left at home, so she wants to steam another pot of buns.

When she opened the cupboard, she realized that she didn't have much refined grain left.

Her ration consisted of only 20% refined grains, with the rest being coarse grains.

These days, we've been eating nothing but steamed buns and rice at home. It's not even the middle of the month yet, and we've almost run out of refined grains.

Well, now we don't need to steam buns anymore.

She scooped out some sweet potato flour with a gourd ladle, scalded it with hot water, and then steamed some pure black cornbread.

After finishing my work, it was getting late.

Seeing that Zhuang Mingcheng and the little ones hadn't returned, she took a few steamed cornbread buns and prepared to go to the farm.

Carrying her things, Lu Fangfang had just stepped out of her house when she saw a flock of ducks walking towards her from the west.

She wasn't in a hurry to go to the farm anymore; she stood there smiling, watching the flock of ducks.

"Giggle~"

The flock of ducks, waddling along, stopped at her doorstep.

Her two ducks stepped out of the flock, turned back and quacked once, as if to say that they should call her again when they went to the river tomorrow.

"Giggle~"

The ducks quacked once and slowly walked away.

The remaining two ducks did not return home through the ditch, but instead walked up to Lu Fangfang and looked up at her.

Lu Fangfang's lips twitched slightly, and she silently pushed open the courtyard gate.

"Giggle~"

Two ducks quacked at her before entering the yard.

Lu Fangfang: "..."

Luckily, the two ducks at home are female and can lay eggs, otherwise she would be tormented by the thought that such clever ducks are too precious to eat.

"These animals are all so intelligent, well, except for mosquitoes and cockroaches, thankfully I don't have any here."

Lu Fangfang can hardly remember what mosquitoes and cockroaches look like anymore; she hasn't seen them since she came to Qilian Mountain.

She shook her head, closed the door, picked up her things, and went to the farm.

When she arrived, the soldiers at the breeding farm were just finishing up and heading back to their unit.

The first breeding shed has already had its earthen walls built up to two meters high; all that's left is to put on the roof. The progress is really impressive.

It seems that in a few days, she won't have to sleep in a tent at night anymore.

Seeing that Sister Shufen was also helping, Lu Fangfang went over and pulled her aside.

Thinking about the flock of ducks from earlier, she smiled and said something.

"Sister Shufen, did you teach them?"

"Hey, that's me. A few days ago, Tiedan went out to play without closing the door, and all the ducks in the house went out. I don't know how, but they ended up in the river. I thought it was fine, so I didn't bother with them."

"But I really didn't know that they were calling out to your two ducks."

Wang Shufen waved her hand.

This was the first time she had heard of this, and she couldn't help but marvel at it.

“I think these ducks were all hatched together, so they might have known each other since they were little.”

Lu Fangfang listened and couldn't stop laughing.

It's hard to say for sure, since they all knew each other when they were young.

After Sister Shufen and the soldiers left, she went to take a look at the incubation room.

Seeing that the temperatures were normal, she went out and got busy with her own things.

She gathered some branches that the soldiers had chopped down and piled them in front of the tent, intending to use them as a bonfire later.

After tidying up for a while, she went to the vegetable garden to the north and picked some cucumbers and tomatoes.

As she walked to the main road, she turned her head and saw Zhuang Mingcheng carrying a dark object on his back, heading back to the family compound in the distance.

Upon seeing this, Lu Fangfang quickly waved and called out, "Hey? Zhuang Mingcheng? Over here, over here."

In the distance, Zhuang Mingcheng heard her call and turned to walk towards her.

He was carrying his things, and halfway there, Little Flower and the little Tibetan fox ran up to him.

"Little Flower, Little Yellow Dog, did you miss me?"

Lu Fangfang squatted down and touched the two little ones.

Zhuang Mingcheng took them to find the bear, and she was quite worried, but thankfully they were all alright.

"Awoo~"

The little Tibetan fox looked dejected and aggrieved.

It looked back at Zhuang Mingcheng, then called out to Lu Fangfang.

"Little yellow dog, what happened to you? Who bullied you?"

Lu Fangfang looked at it and found it a little strange.

She quickly picked up the little Tibetan fox and comforted it.

"Who dares to bully it? This little rascal has really shown his mettle today, leading an entire company of soldiers to seek revenge on the Pallas's rabbit. And it still dares to be wronged? Humph!"

"Pallas's cat?" Lu Fangfang didn't quite understand.

Looking up, she saw Zhuang Mingcheng carrying a gray wolf that was over a meter long, and she was startled.

She was too far away to see clearly and thought it was a sack.

"Mingcheng, is this a wolf that your team hunted? Why did you bring it back?"

Lu Fangfang couldn't help but step forward and take a closer look.

Just by looking at this wolf, you can feel its ferocity, especially since there's a claw mark on its face, making it even more frightening.

"The group gave the two little guys a reward. Little Tibetan Fox did a good job today. This afternoon, he led us to kill five wolves and found the bear's whereabouts. He deserves encouragement. Of course, he tried to be clever in the middle of the fight, so he still needs to be criticized."

Zhuang Mingcheng raised his hand and patted the little Tibetan fox on the head with a smile.

"Awoo~"

The little Tibetan fox was unhappy. It looked up and cried out to Lu Fangfang with a wronged expression.

"Tell me what exactly happened."

Lu Fangfang was completely confused. This involved wolves and Pallas's cats, and she was extremely curious.
