Chapter 225 The Stingy Sister-in-Law Delivers Eggs

Lu Fangfang was busy in the incubation room until dawn.

In the incubator, there were still a dozen or so baby quails that couldn't hatch.

She carefully peeled open the shell and helped the baby quails.

However, looking at the weak appearance of these dozen or so quails, she felt that even if they survived, they would be thinner and weaker than the other quails.

"Poor little thing."

Lu Fangfang touched it and sighed.

The last dozen or so quails, still wet, weren't put into the brooder box yet. She picked up a blanket and carefully covered them with the quilt.

She turned around, opened the brooder box, and looked inside.

"Chirp chirp~"

"Chirp chirp~"

Both brooder boxes were full of fluffy little quails, with more than a hundred in each box.

The early-hatched quails curiously wandered around the box, chirping incessantly.

Lu Fangfang watched for a while, then placed the two thermometers in the room into the two brooder boxes respectively.

With the light bulbs on, the brooder boxes were warm, with individual temperatures at 35 and 36 degrees Celsius respectively.

Seeing that the quails were alright, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Wiping the sweat from her forehead, she covered the brooder with a blanket, then turned and walked out.

It was just getting light outside, and the weather was still a bit chilly.

Lu Fangfang tightened her clothes, went to the storage room and took out a few shallow boxes, sprinkled a little white sugar into each one, and then poured in some warm water.

Back in the incubator, she placed several specially made water feeding utensils into the brooder box.

"Chirp chirp~"

"Chirp chirp~"

The little quails gathered around and began pecking at the warm sugar water.

"Fangfang, how is she?"

Zhuang Mingcheng yawned as he walked in from outside.

Lu Fangfang waved to him.

The two huddled together in front of the incubator and watched quietly.

"They were cuter when they were little, all fluffy and like little dumplings."

Zhuang Mingcheng reached out and touched the little quail.

Beside her, Lu Fangfang nodded in agreement; quails were indeed prettier when they were young than when they grew up.

"By the way, Mingcheng, I forgot to ask yesterday, what's going on with that Third Battalion Commander Liu Erkui? Why did he say something about exploiting quails? It's really inexplicable."

"It's all because of that deputy regimental commander position back then. Never mind him, he's always been like that, always envious."

Lu Fangfang glanced at her husband and realized that she was being made a scapegoat for Zhuang Tuan.

Her husband is so young, yet he's already become the deputy regimental commander; there's been a lot of behind-the-scenes gossip and complaints about him.

Well, it seems she needs to get the farm up and running quickly to help her man out.

Once everyone in the group has eaten quail eggs from the farm, let's see who dares to say anything bad about her family.

"Alright, Mingcheng, go eat your breakfast at the regiment. I still have to take care of feeding the little quails."

"Don't worry about me, go do your thing."

Lu Fangfang picked up the blanket and covered the brooder with it, then went to the yard.

She woke up Xiaohua and Xiaozanghu, and then took the two little ones back to the family compound.

The baby quails have just hatched and are very vulnerable right now. To be on the safe side, we shouldn't put them in the farm, so as not to frighten them.

When she got home, she washed her face to clear her head, and then took out the little bit of beef bone powder that she had left.

The bones from the farm haven't been cooked or dried yet, so they can't be used right now. She can only use the ones from her own farm for now.

She was busy inside when suddenly someone knocked on the courtyard gate.

"Bang, bang, bang."

Who is it?

Lu Fangfang put down what she was holding, walked quickly to the courtyard gate, and opened the door.

"Sister-in-law Yufeng, what brings you here so early in the morning?"

Outside the door, Yang Yufeng had a big smile on her face.

Carrying a basket, she pushed Lu Fangfang and squeezed into the yard, then turned around and tightly closed the door.

"What are you doing? Who let you in?"

Lu Fangfang frowned, looking somewhat unhappy.

She had no liking for her stingy, shameless, and ungrateful sister-in-law.

"Fangfang, don't worry, don't worry, I... I came here this time to apologize to you."

Yang Yufeng was very ingratiating. She pulled off the red cloth on the basket, revealing the eggs inside.

A hint of heartache flashed in her eyes, and she reluctantly stuffed the basket into Lu Fangfang's hands.

"Fangfang, I wasn't human before, please don't take it to heart. Well, I've saved up some eggs, I'll give you... to help you recover."

Lu Fangfang glanced at Yang Yufeng, then at the eggs in her basket.

The sun must have risen in the west today; the incredibly stingy Yang Yufeng actually offered to give her eggs.

"Alright, thank you for the eggs, Sister Yufeng. I'll accept them."

Lu Fangfang didn't stand on ceremony and quickly took it from her hands.

"ah?"

A look of surprise flashed across Yang Yufeng's face. She twitched her lips and could only force a smile.

"Sister-in-law Yufeng, I have things to do. Do you have anything else to do? If not, you can go back now."

Lu Fangfang, carrying a basket, looked at her with a smile.

"Ahem, Fangfang, I... I really do have something to do."

Yang Yu pushed her and took a few more steps into the courtyard.

"Hey Fangfang, I heard from my husband that your farm is hiring someone. I happen to be free right now and I think I'd be perfect for the job. Why don't you hire me?"

Lu Fangfang was delighted; she knew this stingy person wouldn't give her anything for free.

Lu Fangfang glanced at the eggs in the basket, shook her head, stuffed them back into Yang Yufeng's hand, and then pushed her out.

"Hey? Fangfang? Fangfang?"

Yang Yufeng was afraid of breaking the eggs, so she didn't dare to use too much force and was pushed out of the yard by Lu Fangfang.

"Sister-in-law Yufeng, you should keep these eggs for yourself to nourish yourself."

"Bang."

After saying that, Lu Fangfang turned around and closed the door tightly.

"This guy is really interesting."

Lu Fangfang shook her head inwardly.

She dared not hire this person to the breeding farm; given Yang Yufeng's personality, she was bound to cause trouble in the future.

Back inside, she took the bone meal and eggs and prepared to go to the farm.

...

Outside the courtyard gate, Yang Yufeng had a long face, filled with resentment.

"How did it go? Did Xiao Lu agree?"

Wang Haibing walked quickly from his doorstep.

"Pah, agree my ass! I told you it wouldn't work, but you insisted I come. What a lousy farm! I'm not going!"

"Hmph, it's better if you disagree, otherwise this basket of eggs would be wasted."

Yang Yufeng glared at her husband, then quickly went home.

"Huh? You...you idiot!"

Wang Haibing was almost driven to his death by his own wife.

How much does a basket of eggs cost? The monthly salary at the farm is nearly twenty yuan.

"No, I have to ask Lao Zhuang for help. We can't let her stay idle forever."

Wang Haibing sighed and turned to walk back into the troupe.
