Chapter 250 Inspecting the Farm

"Mingcheng, prepare the argali head and these lamb legs, and we'll cook them later."

Lu Fangfang gave Zhuang Mingcheng some instructions, then took the mutton and went to Shufen's house in the back.

When they arrived, they found only Daya and Tiedan at home; Sister Shufen was at the breeding farm.

She told Daya and Tiedan that she had left the mutton, and then went back.

In the courtyard, Zhuang Mingcheng sat on a small stool, holding a machete and chopping off the head of a argali sheep.

He first cut off the two ibex horns, washed them, and set them aside; he would keep them to make combs.

He cleaved the remaining ibex head in two.

Little Flower and Little Tibetan Fox lay on either side, waiting to eat the bits of meat that popped out.

"Awoo~"

"Meow~"

Upon seeing Lu Fangfang return, the two little ones both called out.

"Mingcheng, cut me some more mutton and lamb ribs. I'm going to the farm."

Lu Fangfang found a piece of hemp rope, and after Zhuang Mingcheng cut it, she tied it on.

Carrying the mutton and leading the little wild donkey, she prepared to go to the farm.

Our yard is too small, so let's send the little wild donkey to the ranch. It'll be convenient for it to graze there.

As I walked to the gate of the residential compound, a woman nearby looked over curiously.

"Xiao Lu, are we going out?"

"Yes, let's go to the farm."

Lu Fangfang smiled, picked up the mutton, and left.

...

"Oh my, look at this, this mutton is definitely for Zhao Lanying."

"Sister-in-law Shufen must have one too, the two of them are very close."

The women said enviously.

Holding the child, Ye Cuifang turned her head and teased, "Meijun, if you had joined the farm earlier, you would have gotten a share of the meat too."

Wang Meijun, sitting to the side, felt even more regretful upon hearing these words.

...

"Sister Shufen? Sister-in-law Lanying?"

The farm was locked. After thinking for a moment, Lu Fangfang turned around and went to the pasture next door.

Sure enough, Wang Shufen and Zhao Lanying were cutting tender grass shoots on the meadow.

"Hey, girl, you're back?"

Wang Shufen was very happy to see Lu Fangfang and quickly came to greet her.

Zhao Lanying did the same, putting down the tender grass sprouts in her hand and coming over.

"Yes, Mingcheng and I just got back. We saw the farm was locked, so we guessed you must be here."

Lu Fangfang wrapped the reins around the little wild donkey's neck and then slapped the donkey's rump.

"Go eat grass, and go back to the farm when you're full."

The little wild donkey strode over, found a spot where the grass was tender, and began to graze.

She clapped her hands, then picked up the mutton and handed it to Zhao Lanying, saying, "Sister-in-law Lanying, Mingcheng and I hunted a argali sheep and brought you some meat."

"No, no, I can't accept this."

"Sister-in-law Lanying, please take it. I have more at home."

Lu Fangfang forcefully pushed it into her hands.

"this……"

Zhao Lanying, carrying the meat, subconsciously glanced at Wang Shufen.

Why are you looking at me? Here, take the girl.

Lu Fangfang laughed and quickly waved her hand, saying, "Sister Lanying, it's alright. Sister Shufen also has some; I already sent it to her house."

Zhao Lanying scratched her head, her face still a little red, "Then... Xiao Lu, I'll accept it."

Lu Fangfang smiled and asked about the situation at the breeding farm.

"Don't worry, little sister, everything's fine. Lan Ying, take the sack, let's go back."

Wang Shufen gave a greeting, and the group returned to the breeding farm.

Lu Fangfang first went to take a look inside the breeding farm's greenhouse.

Three days have passed, and the quail chicks in the brooder have grown even bigger.

She scattered a handful of tender grass shoots, and the little quails in the box all lowered their heads to peck at them.

"Chirp chirp~"

"Chirp chirp~"

"After a few more days of raising them, we can put them in the bamboo cage."

Lu Fangfang gently stroked the fluffy little quail, a smile spreading across her face.

"Sister Shufen, when the time comes, separate the male and female quails, keep some of the strong male quails for breeding, and raise the rest for a month before sending them to the troupe to be killed and eaten."

"Okay, I've counted them all. There are 168 female quails and 147 male quails."

Lu Fangfang subconsciously wanted to take out her notebook to jot it down.

She touched herself and realized she hadn't brought it.

"Xiao Lu, use this. I've copied all the quail farming techniques you wrote. Here, take this back."

Zhao Lanying quickly handed over the notebook and pen.

Lu Fangfang didn't stand on ceremony and started writing.

"One hundred and sixty-eight female quails, paired with four each, and forty-two male quails will be kept. The remaining one hundred and five will be fed for another month before being handed over to the regiment."

As she spoke, Lu Fangfang perked up.

The farm is finally going to produce some produce, although the first batch will not be quail eggs, but male quails, whose meat is even better than the eggs.

She was quite happy and checked each brooder box.

Seeing that the baby quails were all doing well, she went to the incubation room.

It got hot as soon as I entered the room.

She lifted the blanket, looked at the quail eggs again, and flipped them over as well.

Today is the fifth day of incubation. In another ten days or so, this batch of quails will hatch.

By then, the farm will have more than 600 quails, and things will finally be on the right track.

In the future, we won't have to be stingy with hatching; we can hatch thousands at a time, which will save a lot of trouble.

After inspecting the farm, Lu Fangfang felt relieved.

After saying goodbye to Sister Shufen and Sister-in-law Lanying, she prepared to go back.

Once she reached the main road, she thought for a moment, then went to the vegetable garden and picked some vegetables.
