Chapter 214 Urging Marriage

Seeing her family gathered around her, Zhou Fen picked up the letter and began to read it aloud.

Hello, Comrade Zhou Fen

I sent you a letter as soon as I arrived at the unit.

I will be discharged from the military soon and will be going back to my hometown to live.

After I am discharged from the military, I will visit you in person.

……………………

I look forward to your reply.

Zhou Fen quickly finished reading the letters, while Wei Mo's family watched her reaction.

Zhou Fen blushed slightly. Wang Changjun had mentioned in his letter that he wanted to propose marriage to Wei Mo's family.

After reading the letter, Zhou Fen wanted to reply immediately, but seeing that everyone around her was concerned about her, she had to postpone writing the letter.

Grandma Yu spoke first:

"Zhou Fen, is this the soldier you met on the train? Tell me quickly, what does he look like, what are his family's circumstances, and how many people are in his family?"

Wang Zhenhua, who was standing nearby, also chimed in:

“That’s right, Zhou Fen, tell us quickly. Your godmother and I will check him out for you. If his character isn’t good, we can’t let him marry you off.”

Zhou Feng looked at the two people in front of her who cared about her. Before she could speak, Qian Manman chimed in excitedly:

"Godmother, Sister Wang, that soldier is good-looking, broad-shouldered and strong. He'll be a good helper even for farm work."

"Moreover, he seemed to be having a very pleasant conversation with Sister Zhou Fen on the train, and it was obvious that he was interested in her. It's just that they were sitting quite far away from us, so we couldn't hear them at all."

After Qian Manman finished speaking, Grandma Yu and Wang Zhenhua stared intently at Zhou Fen with gossipy expressions.

Zhou Fen had no choice but to explain the content of their conversation to her family. She repeated everything Wang Changjun had said, including her family's financial situation.

Grandma Yu and Grandpa Yu nodded after hearing this, then jokingly said to Zhou Fen:

"Zhou Fen, you should reply to him quickly. We'll talk about it when he arrives. We won't feel comfortable handing you over until he comes."

Although Zhou Fen has only been at Wei Mo's house for a short time, she has already felt the care and concern of Wei Mo's family.

She blushed and nodded, then took out a pen and paper and began to write a letter while leaning on the table.

Wei Mo stood on tiptoe beside Zhou Fen, wanting to see the contents of her letter, but Qian Manman patted his head and teased him:

"Hey, you're so young and you want to see other people write letters, especially girls' letters. What will you be like when you grow up? Get out of the way, get out of the way."

After Qian Manman finished speaking, she forcefully pushed Wei Mo away from the table, and then she peeked out to look at the contents of Zhou Fen's letter.

Wei Mo was somewhat speechless after being pushed aside:

"Aunt Manman, you hurt me first, so don't blame me for hurting you back."

Wei Mo looked at Grandma Yu and Grandpa Yu standing to the side, then spoke to them:

"Grandpa and Grandma, Aunt Manman is getting on in years, isn't she going to get married soon? Aunt Wang Ling is pregnant now, why isn't Aunt Manman in a hurry!"

As soon as Wei Mo finished speaking, he was met with a death stare from Qian Manman beside him, her eyes fixed on him.

Now that the fire was lit, Wei Mo immediately took off running into the yard and started playing with his two older sisters.

Meanwhile, Grandpa Yu and Grandma Yu were looking at Qian Manman inside the room.

The two eventually tried to persuade Qian Manman:

“Manman, Wei Mo is right. You should find someone to meet and get married. You’re not getting any younger. Look at your sister Wang Ling, she’s about to have a baby. Aren’t you worried at all?”

Qian Manman pursed her lips, then shook her head and said to the two of them:

"Godfather, godmother, I'm not in a hurry. Why should I be in a hurry? I have you to support me at home. I don't want to get married."

"Do you really want to kick me out like this? Godfather and Godmother, don't you love me anymore?"

Qian Manman finished speaking, putting on a pitiful act, and then threw herself into Grandma Yu's arms, seemingly seeking comfort. Grandpa Yu, however, kept a stern face and continued speaking to Qian Manman:

"Of course we'll take care of you, but can we live with you forever? What will you do after we're gone?"

“If we don’t love you, who will we love? Look at you, you’re like a little kid all day long. You’re so old, yet you still snuggle into your godmother’s arms.”

After finishing his sentence, Grandpa Yu glared at Qian Manman with annoyance, but Qian Manman turned around and made a face at Grandpa Yu.

She thought she had her godmother's support now, but her plan backfired. Grandma Yu pushed Qian Manman out of her arms and said angrily to her:

“We just want to kick you out of the house. You better find someone to marry right now, or I’ll throw your luggage out in a couple of days and then I won’t feed you anymore.”

Qian Manman didn't care at all when she heard Grandma Yu's threat. If it had been her family making such a threat before, she would definitely have believed it.

However, given Qian Manman's current relationship with her family, even if she never marries, her godfather, godmother, and even Sister Wang will support her.

Qian Manman simply gave up and said to Grandma Yu:

"Godmother, then just throw me out first, and let's see if you can bear to part with me. I'll stay right in front of our door and I won't leave. Let's see if you feel sorry for me."

Grandma Yu looked at Qian Manman and was at her wits' end. Her daughter didn't want to get married, so could she really just forcefully kick Qian Manman out?

Grandma Yu sighed, tapped Qian Manman's head with her finger, and then spoke:

"You, you, can't you just give your godfather and me a break? You're not worried now, but you'll be in a rush when everyone else has kids."

Qian Manman didn't care about what her grandmother said at all, and just kept acting cute with her grandmother, who had no way to deal with her.

Grandpa Yu wanted to scold her a bit more, but what would be the point of scolding her if she was like this? The two of them looked at Qian Manman with a headache.

Although they were willing to support Qian Manman indefinitely, and even Wang Zhenhua was willing, a young woman of that age eventually has to get married.

After comforting Grandpa and Grandma Yu, Qian Manman looked at Zhou Fen, who had already finished writing the letter.

Qian Manman pouted, thinking of the culprit. Hearing the sounds of Wei Mo and her two older sisters playing outside the courtyard, Qian Manman rolled up her sleeves and ran out.

Wang Zhenhua and his companions were helpless in the face of Qian Manman's immature appearance. Not long after, they heard the voice of Mo, the guard outside the courtyard, begging for mercy.

"Auntie Manman, I was wrong, please don't hit me. I'm so old, why are you still hitting my bottom?"

After Qian Manman went out and caught Wei Mo, she started spanking Wei Mo's buttocks, even though Wei Mo was able to break free.

After all, Wei Mo was strong, but he didn't do that. Right now, he's just a kid, and it's perfectly normal for a kid to get beaten up.
