Chapter 106 Xia Lei's Thoughts

After finishing the fish that had been stored at home, Zhou Mingli decided to go to the newly discovered pond to catch some more.

Jiang Ci was very interested. After dinner, the two chatted for a while at Sister-in-law Yu's house before heading to the pond.

The place was a bit far from where they lived, and they had to walk there instead of riding bicycles. It took them almost forty minutes to get there.

Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao were able to keep going at first, but the two children ran out of energy and soon complained of being tired.

Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli put them in the baskets on their backs and carried them all the way to the pond.

As expected, there were fish here. Zhou Mingli cast his net twice, and his four baskets were already full! He also caught quite a few crabs and river shrimp, making Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao extremely happy.

Looking at the small fish inside, Jiang Ci had a sudden inspiration: she wanted to grill the fish.

The suggestion was strongly supported by Zhou Yang and Zhou Miao. Zhou Mingli had been busy for half a day and was naturally hungry. He asked Jiang Ci to put all the fish into the net, and then he went to find some soft dry grass and branches. Before long, he started a fire.

They didn't know exactly how much time had passed since they arrived and started eating meat. When they returned, it was pitch black, with only the moonlight still relatively bright.

They caught so many fish that Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli had difficulty carrying the two children on their way back, and could only pull them along.

"I should have come by bicycle, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to put my things here." Zhou Mingli carried the largest basket of fish on his back, and also had two other baskets of fish in his hands.

He himself didn't find it heavy, as he was already used to the weight, but he was worried that Jiang Ci would get tired.

Jiang Ci, holding the two children's hands, was very tired, but she remained calm and didn't complain. She only offered a feasible solution: "We'll rest up ahead for a while. Give me one of the fish baskets, and we'll let the children walk between us so you can have some peace and quiet."
