Jiang Ci was taken aback for a moment, then couldn't help but laugh, "Thank you!"
The minister chuckled and shook his head. "Have a good meeting at the UN General Assembly today."
Jiang Ci nodded seriously, "Okay!"
Zhou Mingli slept until the afternoon. When he woke up and checked the time, Jiang Ci was still at work.
He didn't stay in bed; he got up and tidied up Jiang Ci's room, washing the sheets and clothes that had been soaked through the night before.
This studio apartment bears only traces of Eci's own life.
By the time he finished tidying up, Jiang Ci had also left work.
Unlike before, she didn't stay to work overtime; instead, she rushed back to her apartment.
Zhou Mingli was reading books that Jiang Ci had used to learn Arabic on her own. As soon as she opened the door, Zhou Mingli noticed and turned around.
Jiang Ci approached, glanced at the book, and, ignoring his flipping through it, asked, "When did you wake up?"
"Just a short while ago." Zhou Mingli pulled her over and made her sit on his lap.
Jiang Ci pecked his clean-shaven chin and said, "The minister has given me a day off. I'll be off tomorrow and the day after."
The day after tomorrow is a public holiday.
The two hadn't seen each other for over a year, and now they wished they could be together almost every day.
They had barely finished talking when they kissed again.
What interrupted Jiang Ci's stomach was the rumbling sound.
Zhou Mingli was reluctant to part, and gave him several light pecks. "Perfect timing, I'm hungry too."
Jiang Ci took a deep breath and said, "Let's go out to eat."
Zhou Mingli did not refuse.
After getting dressed again, Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli went out.
I didn't know at first that the man with Jiang Ci was her colleague, but after a day of research, I realized that he was Jiang Ci's husband.
He is now a private entrepreneur, running a television factory.
The fact that Jiang Ci's partner was able to spend a considerable amount of money on plane tickets to fly to New York City shows that the factory was very profitable.
This time, when Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli went out in the evening, no one stared at them with strange looks; instead, everyone spoke to them politely.
Hearing that Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli wanted to eat out, they recommended several restaurants with good food.
Zhou Mingli was both mentally and physically satisfied, and a smile graced his handsome face as he listened attentively.
"What would you like to eat?" Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli asked, walking hand in hand down the street in New York City.
Zhou Mingli pondered for a moment and said, "Which restaurant had the oyster soup you drank last night? It tasted pretty good."
Jiang Ci looked at him quietly, "You'd better say oyster soup."
Zhou Mingli reached out and pulled her scarf up to keep the cold wind out, then said slowly, "What else did you think I was talking about?"
Jiang Ci raised her hand and pinched the soft flesh on his waist.
After groping around for a while without finding any soft flesh, Zhou Mingli breathed a sigh of relief. "Jiang Ci, if you keep touching me, I'm going to book a hotel room nearby."
He's in even better shape than he was a year ago; he's lost every bit of extra fat.
No wonder last night...
Jiang Ci withdrew her hand and coughed. "Let's take a taxi. That restaurant is quite far from here."
Zhou Mingli hadn't eaten all day, so he ordered a lot of food, and the two of them finished it all.
When the foreign waiter saw that these two people, who looked like refugees, were eating twice the amount of food that a normal person would eat, he looked at them differently.
The foreigner took the tip and went to the front desk to chatter away for a long time about Jiang Ci and Zhou Mingli.
After returning, Jiang Ci turned her attention to the luggage that Zhou Mingli had brought.
The apartment was heated, and Jiang Ci wasn't dressed too warmly. She squatted down to watch Zhou Mingli open his luggage and asked, "What did you bring?"
"Apart from my change of clothes, everything else is for you."
Jiang Ci stared intently, her eyes sparkling.
"The seasonings and spices that you and Cheng packed for me were a lifesaver in New York City. At least I can cook for myself three days a week."
Jiang Ci said, "It was my colleagues' first time coming out, so they didn't prepare much, and they didn't bring many seasonings either. Sometimes they come to my place for a treat. When there are a lot of people, they eat quickly, and they've already almost finished eating."
Zhou Mingli took out the items one by one, saying, "I saw them when I was tidying up for you today. I brought you a lot of seasonings and spices."
"There's also roast duck, which is sealed up immediately after it's made. It keeps well in this cold weather. And these are the sausages I made."
"Before I came, I dried a lot of beef jerky, all packed in bags. You can grab a piece whenever you want to eat some. I brought a lot, so you can share it with your colleagues."
"And these..."
Zhou Mingli's clothes only made up one-fifth of the luggage; the rest were all things Zhou Mingli brought for Jiang Ci.
Most of the items are food. New York City is far more bustling than Beijing. If you need anything from Echinate, you can buy it directly in New York City.
Zhou Mingli's culinary skills are undoubtedly excellent. Jiang Ci looked at the luggage, which was filled with food, and felt that her stomach, which had just been filled, could still hold more.
But she restrained herself and looked away.
“This will last me a long time,” Jiang Ci said.
"Not enough." Zhou Mingli arranged the items one by one, then turned around and bent down to hug her back.
He measured her with his palm and sighed, "You've lost a lot of weight."
Seeing her on TV, you can't tell much difference, but only when you see her in person can Zhou Mingli see that she has lost weight since she came to New York.
“That’s me working out,” Jiang Ci said. “These are muscles.”
Jiang Ci herself felt that her physical strength was better than before.
I was perfectly capable of handling Zhou Mingli's antics in the first half.
Although they couldn't catch up with Zhou Mingli's abundant stamina later on.
Zhou Mingli pinched the soft, adorable flesh around her waist, unable to put it down.
Jiang Ci turned around, met his deep eyes, put her hands on his shoulders, and tapped his cheek. "I think you've lost a lot of weight."
