What a huge snake!
Zhou Mingli's breath caught in his throat, and before he could even move, Jiang Ci grabbed him.
"What are you standing there for! Run!"
Jiang Ci's sudden movement finally snapped Zhou Mingli out of his daze, and he started running wildly, pushing his bicycle.
The two-meter-long snake wasn't giving up; it quickly twisted its body and followed.
Zhou Mingli felt dizzy just looking back, and turned to Jiang Ci, saying, "President Jiang, didn't you start catching snakes when you were five years old?"
Jiang Ci ran very fast, and upon hearing this, she broke down and said, "I caught a baby snake! A baby snake that had just hatched!"
How can a tiny snake, less than 20 centimeters long, compare to a snake over two meters long?!
Zhou Mingli: “…”
Both of them were running with heavy loads, and they certainly wouldn't be able to go very far at this rate. Jiang Ci turned her head and glanced at the relentlessly pursuing snake, her anger rising.
When has Jiangci, a prestigious porcelain brand, ever been chased and attacked by a snake?!
Her uncle and aunt could tolerate it, but Jiang Ci couldn't!
Jiang Ci took out a shovel used for shoveling wild vegetables from the bamboo net and turned around!
The shovel was thrown with a snap at the relentlessly pursuing snake.
The shovel hit the snake's head squarely!
Jiang Ci didn't just throw this away randomly. She used to have a wide range of interests, including archery, target shooting, and hunting abroad.
Although they had changed bodies, their basic accuracy was still there, after all, the snake was too close to them!
The giant snake was knocked to the side by Jiang Ci's blow. Enraged, the snake raised its head and was about to chase after the two humans to teach them a lesson when its head suddenly separated from its body!
The snake's body immediately coiled around the thing that had separated it from its family.
The wooden stick of Zhou Mingli's shovel was tightly wrapped around the snake's body, and a large part of the snake's body climbed up Jiang Ci's arm and wrapped around it forcefully!
Jiang Ci, her face grim, grabbed the cold snake's body and pulled it away.
Blood was still gushing from the severed headless snake. The snake's body twisted and coiled, its remaining will and subconscious reaction causing it to tightly wrap around Jiang Ci's arm.
This was the scene Zhou Mingli saw when he turned his head. His eyes were bloodshot, and he threw down his bicycle and rushed over. He didn't know what had blinded him, but Zhou Mingli, who was terrified of snakes, grabbed the snake that was wrapped around Jiang Ci's arm and pulled hard.
Zhou Mingli pulled the snake's body off Jiang Ci's arm.
Zhou Mingli grasped Jiang Ci's arm, examining it carefully and nervously.
Zhou Mingli's voice was hoarse, "Where does it hurt? Are you injured?"
Jiang Ci's arm was covered in obvious red marks from the snake's pressure and coiling, a grotesque sight that pierced Zhou Mingli's heart. His emotions surged, feeling oppressed and heavy.
"No... Ouch, Zhou Mingli, your grip is stronger than a snake coiling around me!"
Zhou Mingli quickly loosened his grip a little, "I'm sorry."
He regretted it somewhat, saying, "If I weren't afraid of snakes, you wouldn't have had to deal with it."
Jiang Ci raised her eyebrows, looked at Zhou Mingli, and said, "Zhou Mingli, you're still holding onto that snake."
Zhou Mingli was taken aback when he heard this. He looked down and, sure enough, he was still holding the dead snake in his hand.
His hands didn't tremble, nor did they show any fear or apprehension; it was as if...
The object in his hand was nothing more than a long, thin toy.
Jiang Ci laughed at him from the side, "Weren't you not afraid of snakes? Zhou Mingli, you weren't lying to me before, were you?"
Her smile was playful, and her eyes held amusement. She had originally intended to see Zhou Mingli make a fool of himself, but then she saw him suddenly look at her, his deep, dark eyes more dangerous than the deep sea.
Jiang Ci's laughter stopped abruptly, and Zhou Mingli lowered his head in front of her.
His throat kept churning, the words he wanted to say kept churning inside, desperately trying to express himself, but he suppressed them one by one.
"Hmm... I won't be afraid of snakes anymore."
Zhou Mingli pulled Jiang Ci to her feet and looked at the red marks on her arm, finding them incredibly irritating.
Jiang Ci seemed to notice his gaze, but didn't care. She patted his shoulder and said, "Everyone has weaknesses, like me. Try bringing a cockroach home and see what happens."
Jiang Ci said, seemingly refuting but also implying, "I was just scared by the size and length of this snake, not because I'm afraid of it. Zhou Mingli, don't think I'm the kind of person who can't take a hit or see blood and needs to be protected at all times."
After saying that, she pretended to pick up the snake.
Although I find it disgusting, it's a good thing.
Zhou Mingli had been watching her every move. After a long while, he said in a hoarse voice, "President Jiang is the most powerful. I'm afraid of snakes, and I need President Jiang to protect me at all times."
Jiang Ci got goosebumps all over. "Zhou Mingli! Speak properly to me."
Zhou Mingli smiled.
After fussing around for a while, the two of them gave up on continuing to explore the mountains.
Jiang Ci took away the snake's body and head. She had examined it carefully and concluded that it was a venomous snake.
Zhou Mingli said, "Tomorrow I'll take the snake's head and body to the town's hospital and see if they'll accept it."
Jiang Ci: "Okay!"
The two returned home with a full load.
Li Hu and Xia Lei ran a long way down the mountain on the other path before stopping.
Xia Lei, holding his bicycle, asked Li Hu, "What did you see over there just now?"
Li Hu shook his head, "I didn't see anything. I don't know if it was because it rained in the mountains yesterday and there was standing water, and I was blinded by the sunlight. Then the people from the archaeological team came on patrol, and I didn't get a good look."
Xia Lei looked unwell. "Just in case, when we get back today, we'll ask around the brigade to see if anyone has gone up the mountain."
Selling cultural relics must not be known to others, otherwise you will be handing over your secrets to the other party, which could cause a lot of trouble in the future.
Li Hu scratched his head. "No one should be going up the mountain, right? Think about it, everyone's busy harvesting wheat lately, working in the fields. Who has time to go up the mountain?"
