Chapter 144 Love Talk

Lin Shu placed the food he brought on the table with a normal expression.

In fact, he was paying attention to what Han Yan would do next.

Han Yan secretly glanced at Lin Shu twice, his body straight.

He took two deep breaths, as if he was about to do something important.

Lin Shu became more and more curious.

She slowed her movements.

After waiting for a while, Han Yan did not move or speak.

Could she have guessed wrong?

"Shu'er." Just as Lin Shu was about to hand the porridge to Han Yan, he spoke.

"Hmm?" Lin Shu handed him the porridge.

Han Yan took it with both hands, but turned around and put it on the table on the other side.

"I have something to tell you." Han Yan sat upright and looked at her with a serious expression.

"You say." Lin Shu couldn't help but straighten his back and listen carefully with his ears perked up.

"You..." Han Yan swallowed nervously.

Lin Shu was curious, was there anything so difficult to talk about?

"Shu'er, you are so beautiful..."

Lin Shu's eyes widened slightly. What was he talking about?

"Your eyes are like the sun, bright and dazzling..." Han Yan continued.

Now Lin Shu understood that he was saying sweet words to her.

"Your face is as white and flawless as the first snow in Dongxi Brigade in winter..."

However, looking at him, he looked very serious, as if he was reciting the oath of joining the party.

Lin Shu couldn't help but raise the corners of his mouth.

"Your lips are like the ones in the Dongxi Brigade Valley—"

"Wait, wait." Lin Shu couldn't help laughing any longer and lowered his head, biting his lip.

She really couldn't imagine Han Yanyan saying love words like this. He used to say sweet words, but he was direct and overbearing.

She really wanted to know how he would remember these things after he regained his memory.

After a while, Lin Shu wiped away the tears from his eyes and looked up at Han Yan.

Han Yan looked frustrated.

"Sorry, please continue." Lin Shu said with a light cough.

"Stop making fun of me." Han Yan said dejectedly.

"No, no." Lin Shu waved his hands quickly. "You said it very well."

"Really," she emphasized.

"Really?" Han Yan was skeptical.

"Really." Lin Shu nodded seriously.

She couldn't let his confidence drop; she wanted to hear it a few more times.

“I love to hear it,” she added.

Han Yan hesitated for a moment, then said shyly, "If you like to hear it, I'll tell you later.

"Okay." Lin Shu's eyes curved slightly.

"And this." Han Yan took out something wrapped in a handkerchief from under the pillow and handed it to Lin Shu.

"Is it for me?"

"Um."

Lin Shu opened the handkerchief curiously.

This handkerchief was the same one she used yesterday and had been washed clean.

Inside the handkerchief was a wooden sculpture in the shape of a human.

She picked up the wood carving and looked at it carefully.

This wood carving looks just like her.

"You carved this, didn't you?" Lin Shu asked in surprise.

"Yeah." Han Yan's lips curled slightly.

"It's amazing." Lin Shu praised sincerely, and kept stroking the lifelike wood carving in his hand.

She didn't even know he had this skill.

"I like it very much." Lin Shu said happily.

Come to think of it, this was the first time she received a gift made by him personally.

"As long as you like it." Han Yan said softly, his face full of tenderness.

Lin Shu's heart couldn't help but beat faster, and his face turned slightly hot.

When their eyes met, they both looked away quickly as if they were burned.

The atmosphere began to become subtle.

They are considered an old married couple.

Why do I still feel like a young person in their first love?

Lin Shu secretly despised himself.

However, Lin Shu's mouth curled up slightly, it seemed that this feeling was not bad.

Two days later.

Han Yan's test results are out.

"After our detailed examination, we did not find any damage to your brain," said the doctor.

"Then why did he lose his memory?" Instructor Gao asked.

"We can't find out the reason either," the doctor replied.

"Will I recover my memory?" Han Yan's face was filled with anxiety.

The doctor paused for two seconds and said, "Sorry, we can't come to a conclusion on this."

"Is there no other way?" Lin Shu asked.

The doctor shook his head.

Lin Shu and the other two looked at each other.

After the doctor left, none of the three spoke for a while.

"Oh, we should be optimistic." After an unknown amount of time, Instructor Gao rubbed his face with his hands. "You might suddenly regain your memory someday. Just like you lost your memory without knowing why."

"Besides," Instructor Gao continued to comfort him, "being able to live a healthy life is already a blessing, isn't it?"

Han Yan clenched his fists on his knees.

He turned to look at Lin Shu, who looked guilty: "Sorry."

"No need to apologize." Lin Shu said softly. She knew what he meant. "This is not your fault in the first place."

Yes, being alive is the greatest blessing. However, Lin Shu couldn't let go of his worries. There must be a reason for the inexplicable loss of memory.

She was afraid that this would have a bad influence on Han Yan.

"Don't worry, I'm fine." As if knowing her worry, Han Yan held Lin Shu's hand and said.

"Yeah." Lin Shu replied softly. I hope so.

After the test results came out, Lin Shu and the other two had no reason to stay here any longer.

Early the next morning, they took a bus back to the army.

It was already the evening of the next day when Lin Shu and his companions arrived at the troops.

night.
