"Commander, are you going home so late?"
Han Yan hummed.
"Hey, didn't you say you weren't going back?"
Han Yan glanced at the soldier calmly: "I want to go back now."
"That's right," the soldier scratched his head and said with a silly smile, "If you can go back but don't, you're a fool."
Han Yan glanced at him again. Why did he feel so different from before he was being sarcastic?
"Grandma, grandma, second uncle is back." Little Tiger rushed into the house and shouted.
"Who are you talking about?" Aunt Liang asked hurriedly.
"It's my second uncle." Xiao Huzi shouted.
As soon as he finished speaking, Han Yan stepped into the house.
"mother."
"Yan Zi, why are you back?" Aunt Liang said, walking up to Han Yan and looking him up and down.
"On a mission nearby." Han Yan said calmly.
Aunt Liang said, "You talk to your dad first. I'll go to the kitchen and make you a bowl of noodles."
Han Yan nodded, went in and said a few words to Han Shan, then went to the kitchen.
"We have to wait a little longer," Aunt Liang put the noodles in the boiling water and turned to Han Yan, "When are you leaving?"
"Let's finish breakfast."
"So anxious?" Aunt Liang leaned closer to Han Yan, shovel in hand, and looked him up and down. "That's not like you."
Han Yan stirred the firewood in the kitchen and said in the same tone, "The dough is almost burnt."
"Ouch." Aunt Liang quickly served the noodles and placed them on the table. She then moved closer to Han Yan and said, "Stop interrupting me. I don't know you yet."
Then, Aunt Liang grinned and said, "It's for Lin Shu, right? But that's not right. You come back so late, and you won't be able to see him if you go out so early tomorrow."
Han Yan paused while picking up the noodles, then put them into his mouth without changing his expression.
The next morning, Han Yan finished breakfast early and said goodbye to Aunt Liang, Han Shan and others.
He did not go directly to where the troops were gathered, but walked straight towards the educated youth compound.
Han Yan stood in a corner, quietly looking at the gate of the educated youth compound.
At this time, Lin Shu and his colleagues had not yet gone out to work.
Han Yan waited for a long time before people opened the door and came out one after another.
As soon as Lin Shu stepped out of the courtyard, Han Yan's eyes fell directly on her.
Because of what happened during the day, Lin Shu didn't sleep much all night, so he got up late this morning and was the last one to go out.
The moment Lin Shu stepped out of the yard, she inexplicably felt a pair of eyes locked on her.
Lin Shu walked a few steps and then turned to look in the direction of his sight.
Lin Shu's eyes widened.
It’s Han Yan!
Lin Shu was delighted, hesitated for a moment, and then ran towards him.
"Han Yan, why are you here?" Lin Shu stood in front of him, looked up and asked happily.
Han Yan raised the corner of his mouth slightly, staring at Lin Shu with burning eyes.
Lin Shu's cheeks felt slightly hot when he looked at her, and she lowered her head shyly.
There was silence for a moment.
"Lin Shu."
Lin Shu nodded softly.
"Look up at me." Han Yan said gently.
Lin Shu looked up shyly, met his gaze, and then avoided his sight as if burned.
"I like you." Han Yan said slowly and solemnly.
Lin Shu's heart skipped a beat and he suddenly opened his eyes wide and looked at Han Yan.
Her cheeks were burning, her heart was beating like a deer, and for a moment, her mind went blank.
"I, I..." She didn't know what to say for a moment and couldn't find the words to express herself.
Han Yan held her face gently in his hands, his eyes gentle as water: "You don't have to answer now, think carefully, and tell me the answer when I come back next time, okay?"
Lin Shu looked at him blankly and nodded unconsciously.
The two looked at each other for a long time. Han Yan let go of her face and gently scratched her nose with his fingers. He said in a doting tone, "Be good. I'm leaving now. Wait for me to come back."
Lin Shu was completely unable to think and could only follow his words with a light "hmm".
Han Yan raised the corner of his mouth slightly, looked up at the corner of the courtyard behind Lin Shu, then turned and left.
Lin Shu stared blankly at Han Yan as he left until his back was out of sight. Then she let out a low cry and squatted on the ground, covering her burning face with her hands.
After a long while, she stood up and walked towards the health room as if in a trance.
Liu Fang, who was hiding in the corner of the educated youth compound, bit her lips hard and stared at Lin Shu's back with gloomy eyes.
Why can she get something that others can't get even if they try their best without paying anything?
Han Yan returned to the army and, as soon as he finished his work, rushed to the mail room. He kept thinking about Lin Shu's unfinished question.
"Uncle Li, are there any letters and packages for me?" Han Yan asked anxiously.
"Han Yan, you're finally back." Uncle Li seemed oblivious to his anxiety and leisurely recorded the mail messages sent by others in his notebook. "Wait a moment, I'll finish this."
Han Yan looked at Uncle Li patiently, wishing he could write it for him.
After Uncle Li finished writing, he picked up a letter and a package and handed them to Han Yan.
"Thank you, Uncle Li." Han Yan said, and without waiting for Uncle Li's reaction, he hurried back to the dormitory.
"What's wrong with this kid lately? Why is he so noisy?" Uncle Li muttered with a puzzled look on his face.
Everyone who saw Han Yan on the road couldn't help but be surprised. When had the battalion commander ever been so anxious?
Back in the dormitory, Han Yan read the letter with a gentle expression.
Then he carefully unpacked the package.
This was the scarf Lin Shu had knitted for him. Han Yan picked up the scarf with both hands, and the corners of his mouth couldn't help but rise.
He couldn't help but bury his face in his scarf and laugh.
