Yang Qingheng was startled, then belatedly realized her embarrassment and awkwardly lowered her collar, saying, "It's nothing."
Song Hengjue glanced at her indifferently, then suddenly moved closer.
The man's breath was right next to hers, the fresh scent of soapberry mixed with a crisp aroma forcefully penetrating her nostrils. The living flesh was right in front of her; if she got just one centimeter closer, she could feel the gushing flesh beneath the shirt. Yang Qingheng's breath hitched.
My fingertips trembled as they sank into the brightly colored wedding quilt, so white it was dazzling, creating an inexplicably enchanting scene in the night.
"What...what are you doing?"
She closed her eyes, her long, curled eyelashes trembling in the night.
Song Hengjue stared at her in confusion, then grabbed the pillow behind her and pulled out the thin blanket along with it: "What's wrong?"
Yang Qingheng froze instantly, opened her eyes abruptly, and belatedly realized that she seemed to have been tricked. She gritted her teeth in anger: "Song Hengjue, get out of here!"
"Fine, then get out." Song Hengjue chuckled, looking her up and down with blatant disdain.
A pillow slammed into his back and landed heavily on the ground.
Yang Qingheng was so angry that she had a headache and finally fell asleep in the middle of the night, holding her breath. When she opened her eyes the next day, the sun was already high in the sky.
The thin blanket at the foot of the bed was folded neatly without a single wrinkle. If it weren't for the breath she was still holding in her chest, she would have thought that Song Hengjue hadn't come back last night.
Yang Qingheng pouted, got out of bed, washed up, ate breakfast, and then carried a can of flower tea into the mountains.
"Yang Qingheng, did you come to see me?" Gu Yi's voice came from behind as his wrist was suddenly grabbed.
Yang Qingheng frowned, forcefully shook off his hand, and rubbed it hard on her clothes as if he were some disgusting, dirty thing.
Gu Yi stared longingly at her face, ignoring her little actions, and reached out to take the water bottle from Yang Qingheng's hand: "I knew you would come to me. You must have been too nervous that day. I've forgiven you for accidentally slapping me. Yang Qingheng, let's make up."
Gu Yi nervously gripped the side seam of his pants, staring at her expectantly. Anyone who didn't know better would think he was incredibly affectionate and Yang Qingheng was a terrible woman.
If Yang Qingheng hadn't been the person involved, she too would have been fooled by this despicable man's superb acting skills.
Just as a torrent of disgust was about to burst forth, she suddenly remembered the five hundred yuan that Song Hengjue had mentioned yesterday. She took a deep breath, and her eyes suddenly reddened: "Gu Yi, you're so kind."
The fish has taken the bait.
Gu Yi was overjoyed, his lips pressed tightly down, afraid that Yang Qingheng would notice. He suddenly grabbed her hand: "Didn't you say last time that you would find a way to pay for my mother's medical expenses? The hospital is urging me to pay the fees again. If I can't pay them, those shameless people will kick my mother out. This is a living person's life. You can't just ignore it, right?"
So that's how this scoundrel swindled her money.
Yang Qingheng sneered inwardly, but her brows furrowed, and she looked so worried that she almost cried out: "How could this happen? The hospital is really outrageous."
“Yes, about the medical expenses…” Gu Yi reminded him.
Yang Qingheng sighed, looking distressed: "You borrowed money from me before, and I gave you Song Hengjue's money. Now he won't let me touch any money, saying that I was cheated by you."
Gu Yi was so angry that he cursed loudly: "How can Song Hengjue be such a despicable person? He is so indifferent to matters of life and death. He treats others like this today, and he might treat you like this in the future. If he hadn't colluded with your parents, we wouldn't have been forcibly separated by them."
"Yes, that's too much," Yang Qingheng said indignantly. "As expected, only you are worthy of my trust. Don't worry, I'll take care of the medical expenses!"
Gu Yi's face lit up with joy.
Yang Qingheng hesitated for a few seconds, then said, "But you have to write me an IOU, otherwise Song Hengjue will never believe it."
"Yang Qingheng, do you not trust me?" Gu Yi's expression changed.
Yang Qingheng waved her hand: "No, I just used it to deceive him. I'll steal the IOU as soon as I get the money."
Gu Yi finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Perhaps Yang Qingheng had been too love-obsessed in his eyes before, because he didn't suspect anything at all. He quickly wrote an IOU as she asked, and even obediently pressed his fingerprint on it, after being coaxed by Yang Qingheng.
Yang Qingheng examined it for a few seconds, nodded in satisfaction, tore off the page, folded it neatly, and put it in her pocket.
"You need to bring the money to me before tomorrow. Make sure no one else sees it, or it will damage your reputation." Gu Yi's tone carried a hint of command.
Yang Qingheng received the IOU, stopped pretending, chuckled, and started to walk forward.
She heard footsteps behind her and looked up to see Erniu hurrying into the woods.
Yang Qingheng knew without a doubt that this person would rush up to Song Hengjue and say something, nothing more than to smear her, saying that she was entangled with Gu Yi, and that she wanted Song Hengjue to come here to witness their affair.
A slight displeasure arose in my heart.
Gu Yi sensed her sudden coldness and realized something was wrong. He rushed forward to snatch the IOU from Yang Qingheng's pocket.
Yang Qingheng was prepared and slapped him hard with all her might, making Gu Yi dizzy and causing him to stumble and fall to the ground.
Seeing his disheveled appearance, she felt a surge of anger.
You can't even handle this? You have a long way to go and plenty of good days ahead!
She would repay him tenfold or a hundredfold for what he owed her in his past life. She hoped his worthless life could withstand it and that he wouldn't die halfway through.
She strode into the woods, but to her surprise, Gu Yi recovered quickly and pounced on her, grabbing her neck tightly. The cold blade that followed sent shivers down her spine.
