Chapter 393 Go to find Liu Cuilan

Xia Tao stood there, chuckling, his face filled with the doting affection of an older brother. He scratched his head, and his originally neat hair became a little messy, with a few strands sticking up playfully.

He smiled and said, "I know you're capable. From childhood to adulthood, whether it's burning the midnight oil to achieve excellent results in your studies or calmly dealing with difficulties in life, you've never caused your family much worry and have handled everything in an orderly manner."

I still remember the time you fixed the broken faucet at home by yourself, which surprised my parents. I still remember clearly how smart and independent you were.

But as your older brother, I just can't help it. I always want to protect you from the wind and rain, even though you're already so outstanding.

He sighed softly, his eyes filled with deep affection: "If you really have any difficulties, don't bear it all by yourself. Go find Li Chengjun. He's a reliable person. I've known him for so long, I know his character well, and I trust him. He's righteous and down-to-earth. If I'm not by your side, I'll feel more at ease knowing he can help you out."

As he spoke, he reached out and gently patted Xia Wan's shoulder. His hand was broad and warm, carrying the strength and care of an older brother. His eyes were full of concern and worry, as if he were carefully examining his younger sister, afraid that she might suffer even the slightest grievance.

Xia Wan shook her head helplessly, but the corners of her mouth couldn't help but turn up, revealing a faint smile. That smile was like a flower quietly blooming in spring, warm and touching, adding a touch of brightness to the slightly dim room.

She nodded gently to indicate that she understood. In her heart, although her brother's concern sometimes seemed a bit excessive, and even a little nagging, like when he would repeatedly remind her to be careful before going to school every day when she was little, wasn't this the warmth she cherished most?

This blood-is-thicker-than-water kinship is her strongest support in this chaotic world. No matter how turbulent the outside world is, as long as she thinks of her brother, her heart is filled with strength.

Then, as if she suddenly remembered something important, her eyes lit up, and she said to Xia Tao, "Brother, I'm planning to go back to Huaihua Brigade tomorrow. Are you coming?"

She tilted her head slightly, her eyes filled with anticipation, a gaze that seemed to pierce through the cracks of time, leading her back to that place full of memories.

In her memory, every inch of land in Huaihua Brigade bears the marks of her childhood laughter and the footprints of her growth.

In spring, they fly kites in the fields, the kites soaring freely under the blue sky and white clouds, their laughter echoing through the fields; in summer, they play together by the river, the cool water washing away the summer heat; in autumn, they help harvest the golden wheat, feeling the joy of a bountiful harvest; in winter, they have snowball fights in the snow, their little hands turning red from the cold but they are still having a great time.

It's as if going back there would allow me to rediscover those beautiful memories buried by time and relive those carefree old days.

Upon hearing this, Xia Tao paused slightly, as if his thoughts had been instantly pulled back to that familiar and dear place. His eyes became somewhat unfocused, as if he could see the golden waves of wheat in Huaihua Brigade undulating in the breeze, and hear the simple laughter of the villagers echoing in his ears.

He recalled the busy farming season when everyone worked together in the fields. Although it was hard work, it was full of joy. He also recalled summer nights when everyone sat in the courtyard, fanning themselves with palm-leaf fans to keep away mosquitoes and sharing stories about everyday life.

He nodded vigorously and agreed, "Sure, I'll go with you. I'll buy the tickets first thing tomorrow morning, and then we'll go together. It's been so long since I've been back, I really miss the old and young men there."

I wonder if Grandpa Zhang's back pain has gotten any better. He used to love to chat with me for hours on end; and Aunt Li, her cooking was so delicious, especially her braised pork. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. I miss her so much.

A nostalgic expression appeared on his face, as if he could already see the familiar faces of the Huaihua Brigade. The corners of his mouth unconsciously turned up, revealing a faint smile, a smile full of longing for the past.

"Okay, that's perfect. I'll go to the post office tomorrow morning. My godmother sent me something, and I haven't picked it up yet."

Xia Wan's tone was tinged with excitement; she was filled with curiosity and anticipation for the things her godmother had sent.

My mind kept guessing what would be in the package—my favorite snacks, or a small gift full of love?

Was it a handmade doll that her godmother used to make for her when she was little, or a book she had been looking forward to for a long time? Sister Zhao was worried that something unexpected might happen, so she took the package home and said she would take it to the post office for her to pick up tomorrow.

Thinking that she would soon receive the package from her godmother, Xia Wan felt increasingly happy, as if she could already feel the deep love inside the package, the concern that her godmother had conveyed across mountains and rivers.

Xia Tao smiled and agreed, his smile full of indulgence towards his younger sister.

In his heart, as long as his sister is happy, everything else is fine.

He sees every wish of his younger sister as a precious treasure worth fulfilling. From childhood to adulthood, he has always tried his best to meet her needs. Watching his sister grow up happily is his greatest happiness.

Xia Wan got up and went to the kitchen to get dinner. Her figure was light and agile as she moved back and forth between the kitchen and the living room, like a butterfly dancing gracefully.

The kitchen was steaming, and the aroma of food filled the air. She skillfully picked up plates of dishes and carefully carried them towards the living room.

Soon, the aroma of food filled the air—the smell of home, the smell of warmth, the smell of love—filling the small room with a cozy atmosphere.
