The man looked around fearfully. "What nonsense are you talking about? You dare to say such things? Aren't you afraid that someone will come and take you away?"
The old lady's face turned pale and she said fearfully, "I...I was just talking."
With that, she turned and left, not daring to linger. Everyone heard the old lady's words. Though they all pretended not to believe her, they were all secretly wondering, "Could this really be the reason?" If so, why wasn't the one who committed the sin punished, but everyone else? Could it be that because "he" is in power now, the higher-ups are punishing us?
Xu Qianjiao looked at the group of people whispering to each other and frowned in her heart, but didn't say much. She just quickly went to get some hot water.
When he came back, the group of people had disappeared. Xu Qianjiao didn't take it to heart, thinking it was just an ordinary chat.
She carefully held the cup of steaming water and slowly walked back to the counter. Wisps of white smoke continued to rise from the hot water in the cup, like soft ribbons dancing in the air.
The white smoke gently brushed across her cheeks, bringing a warm feeling, making her originally cold face gradually become warm.
She took a sip of the hot water, feeling it flow down her throat. A warm current enveloped her wherever it touched. This heat quickly spread throughout her body, dispelling the chill within her, warming her whole being. She no longer felt cold, her hands and feet no longer icy.
As she gulped down the hot water, her body gradually regained its temperature and her mood relaxed. At this moment, she immersed herself in this small warmth, enjoying a moment of peace and comfort.
"Jiaojiao." Hearing the familiar voice, Xu Qianjiao looked up from the counter and saw that it was Cheng Jiawen. She looked at Cheng Jiawen in surprise and immediately walked out from the counter. "Why are you here?"
Cheng Jiawen took out clothes from the backpack and handed them to Xu Qianjiao, "Here, put them on quickly." After saying that, he took the clothes and prepared to put them on Xu Qianjiao.
Xu Qianjiao followed his hand, quickly put on her clothes, and then quietly wrapped herself up, "Huh, that's great. I was freezing just now. The temperature suddenly dropped today, and I didn't wear many clothes."
Cheng Jiawen reached out and touched Xu Qianjiao's little hand and found it was ice-cold. He held her hand tightly with both hands, trying to warm her up.
But in fact, because he had just ridden a bike all the way here, even though he was wearing gloves, his hands inevitably became cold. After warming them up for a long time, Xu Qianjiao's hands showed no signs of warming up.
He thought about it and looked around. Seeing that no one was paying attention to this side, he simply put Xu Qianjiao's hand on his waist.
Xu Qianjiao's face flushed red at his actions, and she said shyly, "No, I'm wearing clothes and I'll be warm in a while."
Cheng Jiawen smiled indifferently, "What are you afraid of? You can hug your own husband. What's the problem? Be good and warm him up for a while. Otherwise, when will your hands be warmed up?"
He paused and looked at her teasingly, "Why are you shy? When you were at home, didn't you like to use me to warm your hands and feet? Usually you would just stuff your feet into my stomach or thighs. Now that I'm warming your hands, you're shy?"
Xu Qianjiao glared at him. "How is this the same? It's just the two of us at home, but now we're in public."
Cheng Jiawen smiled helplessly and whispered, "Okay, I get it. Warm it for a while. I'll let go when your hand warms up."
The two of them were like this, Xu Qianjiao put her hand on Cheng Jiawen's waist to keep warm, and Cheng Jiawen put his arm around Xu Qianjiao. From a distance, their movements were like a beautiful painting.
The two embraced each other tightly, seemingly oblivious to their surroundings. Their eyes met, revealing an indescribable emotion. At this moment, time seemed to stand still, and the whole world belonged to them alone.
The wind still blew, but they no longer felt cold. Instead, a surge of warmth welled up in their hearts, making them feel incredibly cozy. At this moment, they seemed to be isolated from the world, immersed in their own little world.
-------------------------------------
In the afternoon, Cheng Jiawen returned to the police station. Because it was still snowing, everyone did not go out for patrol at this time, but stayed in the police office together.
Officer Liu walked in with a serious expression, his eyes scanning the room like an eagle. When he saw everyone sitting in a neat row, his already tense expression turned even darker.
He tightly grasped the folder in his hand and slammed it hard on the table, making a crisp and loud "pop" sound.
This sudden action shocked everyone present. Although Officer Liu looked serious at ordinary times, he was still easy to get along with. He had never lost his temper like today.
Thinking of this, everyone looked at each other with confusion and surprise in their eyes. They secretly muttered: What happened? How could this happen after just attending a meeting?
No one dared to speak, and could only stare at Officer Liu silently, trying to catch a clue from his seemingly calm face.
Upon closer inspection, someone noticed the corners of Officer Liu's mouth droop slightly, revealing an undisguised anger. Although he tried to maintain a calm exterior, his piercing eyes seemed to penetrate the human heart, revealing his inner discontent and anger.
In this tense atmosphere, time seemed to freeze. No one dared to break the silence, fearing it would further inflame Officer Liu. Everyone held their breath, awaiting his next instructions or explanation.
