Chapter 206 Pretending

Xie Xiaotian remembers clearly how her family used to make fun of her family for not having a son.

"That's not my mom. So what if she's dead? It's pathetic that she was driven to death by her daughter." Xie Xiaotian glanced at Jiang Xue sideways.

Jiang Xue was speechless. Right now, it wasn't a question of who was whose daughter, but a matter of life and death. She couldn't get over that hurdle in her heart.

She quickly instructed Shaoheng, "Go to Granny Zhao's house and call her husband over. Remember to call him Grandpa."

As soon as Jiang Xue finished giving the instructions, Shao Heng ran out quickly on his short legs.

Jiang Xue struggled to squat down and pinch Xie Chunmei's philtrum. She was only doing this because Xie Chunmei had given her this body. If anyone else had treated her like this, she would have watched them die.

This is the first time, and also the last.

After Jiang Xue pinched her philtrum, Xie Chunmei finally woke up, but her limbs were weak and she couldn't say a word for a long time.

"Auntie, Auntie..." Shao Heng ran quickly to Jiang Xue, "I've called someone for you."

Aunt Zhao's husband quickly jumped off the tractor. "Come on, come with me to the city. You two can take care of things from behind."

Jiang Xue frowned and said to Xie Xiaotian, "Go and call her family."

Xie Xiaotian scoffed, "Why should I help call her? She's not my mother."

Jiang Xue was so angry that her chest ached. "Don't you know that this is a matter of life and death? Can't you just consider it as doing yourself a good deed?"

Xie Xiaotian's eyes remained disdainful, but Wang Mazi's wife couldn't stand it anymore, "Oh my god, oh my god, it's just calling for help."

Jiang Xue saw Wang Mazi's wife go to call for help, so she took Shao Heng and Shao Meng and got on the tractor.

Xie Chunmei lay in the tractor carriage with her mouth agape, unable to speak, staring at the sky.

Jiang Xue frowned, feeling that Xie Chunmei's condition seemed a bit off. Although she wasn't a medical student, she had heard from customers that their elderly relatives had suffered strokes, leading to sudden paralysis.

Jiang Xue comforted herself, deciding not to care anymore. Although she had given birth to the original owner, her actions were so despicable that she didn't need to fulfill her filial duties for the original owner.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Aunt Zhao's husband carried Xie Chunmei off the tractor.

Jiang Xue looked at the narrow hospital filled with the smell of disinfectant, and felt a strange sense of unease for some reason.

"Could this be the original owner's lingering resentment towards his biological parents, causing a kind of unrelated urgency in his heart?"

Jiang Xue held Shao Meng and murmured to herself.

"Who is this patient's family member?" the doctor in the white coat asked.

"Me." Jiang Chunsheng and Jiang Lai haven't come yet, so even though Jiang Xue didn't want to admit it, she seemed rather helpless.

Jiang Xue led Shao Heng and carried Shao Meng to the doctor's desk.

"Is your mother-in-law or your mother?"

The doctor's words almost pierced Jiang Xue's soul, and she squeezed out through gritted teeth, "She's like a mother."

"A mother is a mother. What do you mean by 'a mother'? How can this girl talk like that? She's a mother herself." The doctor inexplicably scolded her.

Jiang Xue felt frustrated and wanted to argue back, but there were too many people around, and no one knew the truth behind the situation.

"Your mother is now hemiplegic and will be bedridden for the rest of her life. You must take good care of her when you go back," the doctor said earnestly.

Jiang Xue's expression was numb, not at all like a daughter should have. She couldn't bring herself to be sad; it was as if fate was playing a cruel trick on her.

Having finally severed ties with them, I reckon Jiang Lai and Jiang Chunsheng will start causing trouble every day again.
