Chapter 176 Another Purpose

Back home, Jiang Xue remained as calm as ever, rolling up her sleeves to tidy up the leftover materials in the factory.

Seeing that there were still a few workers who hadn't gone home, Jiang Xue felt that it wasn't good to work overtime until midnight on the first day; she still needed to adapt gradually.

"Why don't you guys go home after get off work?"

Several workers and Wang Jing tidied up the table, took off their outer coats, and prepared to go back.

Jiang Xue was too busy to greet everyone, and as always, everyone went home.

However, Wang Jing still caught her attention; the girl seemed reluctant to leave.

"Wang Jing should go back early. It's getting dark, and it might not be safe for her on the way back." Jiang Xue's words came from the bottom of her heart. Although she didn't particularly like Wang Jing's way of dealing with people, as her employee, she had to take care of her. After all, she was still young, so she would just consider it as Wang Jing being a little immature.

Seeing that Jiang Xue was urging her, Wang Jing's hands moved noticeably faster, but she wasn't in a hurry at all.

A few days ago, she had been keeping track of the time, watching at the entrance of her village to see when Ji Chen would return home.

Jiang Xue had almost finished tidying up when she saw Wang Jing quietly leave.

Walking along the dark road, Wang Jing found the early winter countryside exceptionally quiet, with gusts of cold wind blowing. If she hadn't been hoping for a chance encounter with Ji Chen, she wouldn't have put herself through this ordeal.

"Little girl, are you going home alone?" Aunt Zhou's husband, who had come back from playing cards somewhere, reeking of alcohol, tried to pounce on Wang Jing.

Wang Jing screamed and ran away in fright, but she couldn't stop Aunt Zhou's husband, who was emboldened by lust, from following her closely.

"Little girl, you helped outsiders instead of your uncle before, now I'll show you what I'm capable of." After saying that, Aunt Zhou's husband pounced on Wang Jing. "You little brat, you're so naive."

Although Wang Jing ran very fast, she couldn't outrun Aunt Zhou's husband chasing after her, and he was about to catch up.

"What?" A cold male voice startled Aunt Zhou's husband, who turned and ran away.

Wang Jing was so frightened that her legs went weak, and she collapsed to the ground.

Seeing that the little girl seemed to have fainted from fright, Ji Chen quickly got out of the car to check on her.

With tears in her eyes, Wang Jing hugged Ji Chen tightly and burst into tears, "Brother Ji Chen, I'm so scared, I was terrified!"

Ji Chen was taken aback. It turned out to be Wang Jing. He frowned, but seeing that Jiang Xue's workers were in danger on their way home from get off work, he couldn't just abandon them.

"How about I take you home?"

A hint of pleasure flashed in Wang Jing's tearful eyes. "Thank you so much, Brother Ji Chen. You really scared me to death just now."

"Hmm," Ji Chen replied indifferently, then pushed his bicycle and walked alongside Wang Jing toward Wangjiazhuang.

Wang Jing tried to strike up a conversation with Ji Chen along the way, but he remained a quiet person, only seeming to talk a little more in front of Jiang Xue.

The two walked to Wangjiazhuang, keeping a meter's distance between them. "I'll leave you here. Be careful next time."

Wang Jing had originally planned to invite Ji Chen to her home, but upon hearing Ji Chen's words of concern, she instantly felt completely lost.

"Okay, I'll definitely be more careful next time. It's getting late, Brother Ji Chen, you should go home and rest early too. Thank you so much for today."

Ji Chen nodded politely, then rode his bicycle quickly home.

Back home, Wang Jing was all smiles. Her parents looked at her in surprise and asked, "Did your work go smoothly over there today?" Her mother couldn't help but ask.

"Yes, it went very smoothly. I will go every day from now on."

Wang Jing's mother immediately became a little worried, "You can go every day, but could you come home earlier next time? Your dad and I are worried because you come home too late."
