Chapter 55: A Lesson for You

"You don't want to do it, huh?" Jiang Xue crossed her arms and ran to the front door with a disdainful look, making it seem like she was about to shout at the top of her lungs.

When Ji Dong saw that Jiang Xue was secretly complaining, he immediately backed down and said, "I'll do it, really, just don't call me an old woman."

Seeing that he was very unconvinced, Jiang Xue stepped forward and patted him on the shoulder, "If you mess it up, I'll sell the radio you just bought, and see how you'll listen to Deng Lijun's songs in the future."

"You..." Ji Dong gritted his teeth in anger. "Tch, one day I'll make you work for me. I'm just having bad luck right now, so I'll put up with it for now."

"Don't brag. I'll work for you. Take a good look at yourself in the mirror." After rebuking Ji Dong, Jiang Xue quickly got Gu Xiaoling to work.

Jiang Xue was very meticulous. She broke down a set of clothing into several processes, and each person was responsible for one process.

Gu Xiaoling took notes in her notebook while learning how to perform each step of the process.

"The collar, sleeves, hemming... there are seven major processes in total. Of course, there are buttons and loose threads later on, but those are not problems. I will be responsible for teaching four people, and you will be responsible for teaching three. See who is more difficult to teach, and the remaining three will be responsible for the curtains."

After everything was arranged, Jiang Xue and Gu Xiaoling immediately began teaching the workers.

Wu Mazi's wife, halfway through her work, suddenly slammed the bag on the ground, yelling, "You're always learning this and that, don't you want to do any work?"

She simply couldn't learn how to make collars; every time she made a turn, the collar was extremely ugly and rough.

"I quit, I quit! Give me my money, I'm quitting."

Jiang Xue checked the time; she had only worked all morning. Either she was afraid that she wouldn't pay her afterwards, or she was too tired. Jiang Xue knew perfectly well that the reason was 90% because she was afraid that she wouldn't pay her.

"You're such a lazy person, and you're offering to pay fifty yuan upfront? You're really trying to fool people. I have a feeling you just can't afford it, right?"

As Jiang Xue guessed correctly, it turned out that Wu Mazi's wife had deliberately taken advantage of the anger over making the curtains to try and get her morning's wages.

Jiang Xue curled her lips in disdain, took out two yuan and fifty cents from her pocket, and slammed it heavily on the sewing machine. "Take it."

Wu Mazi's wife's eyes lit up instantly; it seemed Jiang Xue hadn't gotten something for nothing.

"Oh dear, I was just getting frustrated while making collars. I felt clumsy and couldn't learn it. I can make curtains instead." She quickly changed her tune and became very respectful to Jiang Xue.

"Take it away." Jiang Xue's expression was silent, each word spoken with firm conviction.

Seeing that Jiang Xue's expression meant it was no joke, Wu Mazi's wife quickly went over and put the two yuan and fifty cents into her pocket.

"Oh, the neighbors next door, we can settle the bill together tonight," she said with an embarrassed smile.

Jiang Xue gave her a cold look. "Taking it away means taking the money and leaving. I don't need a worker like you."

"Aunt Wang, please find me another place to take over tonight."

Wu Mazi's wife stood there stunned. "I was just joking. I didn't say I was leaving. Why are you taking it so seriously?"

Jiang Xue was blunt and showed no mercy whatsoever. "I provide you with jobs and pay you wages in return. You help me with my business. It's a mutually beneficial arrangement, but I don't need to lead any troublemakers."

Jiang Xue knew that if this behavior wasn't stopped in time, people would cause trouble every few days, and there would be no order or discipline, so how could anything be done?

She was somewhat relieved that Wu Mazi's wife had made such a scene, so that it could serve as a negative example and serve as a warning to others.

Since she's put in so much effort to teach, what if the other person complains about wages or something else one day? She won't be able to catch them then.

This is a good way to show everyone that she is not the lazy and good-for-nothing Jiang Xue of the past, but a Jiang Xue who has worked her way up from the bottom and is now her own boss.
