"If you stay here and don't leave, I won't be paying you this afternoon anyway." Jiang Xue calmly patted off non-existent dust from her body.
"Listen up, everyone. Since you've taken my wages, don't question me. If you do it again, take your money and leave. I, Jiang Xue, am not one to let people off the hook. I'm the kind of person who holds grudges and seeks revenge for every wrong done to me."
Wu Mazi's wife's face stung even more than if she had been hit.
She angrily picked up her water glass and said, "Someone like you can be a boss? You slut."
She packed her things while cursing, "If a filthy whore who seduces men in the reservoir can become a boss, then pigs can fly."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Xue's eyes instantly turned sinister. She stepped forward and, without saying a word, slapped her hard across the face.
"Have you forgotten that we had a contract?" Jiang Xue glanced sideways, looking down on the old woman in front of her.
It's true what they say, a leopard can't change its spots. It seems Jiang Xue was too lenient with them last time they caused trouble.
"It's all in black and white, a thousand yuan in compensation. I'm giving you one last chance. Shut your stinking mouth, tuck your tail between your legs and get out of here, or I'll go find the village secretary." Jiang Xue didn't care about the original owner's foolish deeds.
But you can't let people criticize your backbone forever.
"Wait a minute." Jiang Xue called out, getting angrier by the thought, to Wu Mazi's wife, who was packing her things.
"Slap yourself twice, or I'll demand you pay me back that thousand yuan."
"Why should I?" Wu Mazi's wife was so angry she almost jumped three feet high.
Jiang Xue sneered, "With your mouth, you deserve to be beaten. I don't care what you say about me behind my back, but if you say it to my face, I'll kill you."
"You're not going to slap me, huh?" Jiang Xue turned around and went home to find the contract. She knew the chances of getting compensation were slim, but it was more than enough to intimidate these illiterate scoundrels.
Wu Mazi's wife was furious, but money was very important these days. She slapped herself twice in a daze and then carried the sewing machine away, muttering to herself.
Jiang Xue glanced at her disdainfully.
Ji Chen, who was calculating the cost of sand, gravel, and cement in the room, was stunned by Jiang Xue's decisive and efficient demeanor.
Could it be that Jiang Xue is really possessed? Why is she speaking and acting less and less like an ordinary rural woman?
"Jiang Xue, come here for a moment." He gestured for Jiang Xue to come over with a blank expression.
Jiang Xue saw the rudimentary assembly line and everything was normal, but she didn't know why Ji Chen had called her.
Jiang Xue, who had walked over to Ji Chen, rolled up her sleeves and helped Ji Chen tidy up the papers scattered all over the table.
It wasn't that she was particularly gentle and considerate, but rather that her years of office habits made it impossible for her to leave these important quotations scattered and disorganized.
In less than two minutes, Ji Chen saw Jiang Xue categorize all the materials by price and arrange them neatly.
"Speak up, what do you want?" Jiang Xue continued to check the amount of yellow sand needed, her hands still busy.
"Can you understand it?" Ji Chen's eyes were suspicious, and his tone was full of probing.
Jiang Xue didn't even look up, slowly putting down what Ji Chen had written. "Just because you can't understand it doesn't mean you can't read it?"
After Jiang Xue finished speaking, she gave Ji Chen a sly look.
Ji Chen couldn't hold back any longer and stepped forward to grab Jiang Xue's hand.
Jiang Xue's soft, delicate arm was pulled painfully by Ji Chen. "What are you doing?"
Ji Chen narrowed his eyes and asked Jiang Xue skeptically, "I don't think you're Jiang Xue. Tell me, who are you?"
