Chapter 97 Reluctance to part with the child

Ji Chen clenched his fist. "What else did that good-for-nothing say?"

"No, that's not it. I just told Shao Heng that I didn't know us and that he shouldn't make any unfounded claims of relationship with us." Jiang Xue patted Shao Meng, who was gently squirming in her arms.

"Shaomeng's IV drip is almost finished. The doctor said it would be best to admit her to the hospital, as she has now developed a bacterial infection."

"Okay, I'll go right now." Ji Chen got up and picked up Shao Heng. "Come on, Uncle will take you to handle the formalities. Later, Uncle will take you to buy some delicious food. Tell Uncle what you want to eat."

With tears streaming down his face, Shao Heng shook his head in Ji Chen's arms, indicating that he didn't want to eat anything.

Jiang Xue felt more and more sorry for him the more she looked at him.

Just as Ji Chen finished completing the formalities, Shao Meng finished her IV drip.

"Take Shaoheng out for a walk, then buy him some good food and toys." Jiang Xue hugged Shaomeng and made a face at Shaoheng.

"Don't pee on my face anymore. From now on, call your aunt 'Mom,' okay?" She stepped forward and patted Shaoheng's head.

Moved, Shao Heng buried his head in Ji Chen's arms and nodded weakly.

"What would you like to eat? I'll bring it to you," Ji Chen asked considerately.

Jiang Xue shook her head. "Just make Shao Heng happy. Don't worry about me."

Feeling terrible, Jiang Xue carried Shao Meng to the inpatient department, and by sheer coincidence, she was also assigned to the third floor.

She washed Shaomeng, and her own back ached from exhaustion. She curled up next to Shaomeng and dozed off for a while.

As they walked down the street, Ji Chen simply hoisted Shao Heng onto his shoulders.

"Uncle, why doesn't my mom want me anymore?" Shao Heng's childish voice tugged at Ji Chen's heart.

"Your uncle wants you, so from now on you should call him uncle and dad."

Ji Chen sighed deeply. He was really having a headache over his unreliable younger sister. She had just found a random man and was pregnant again. He wondered if she would regret it in the future and abandon her two children.

The autumn wind just happened to blow away the fallen leaves of the sycamore trees.

Ji Chen was walking down the street when he stumbled upon a kindergarten. He carried Shao Heng on his back and looked at the children inside with their innocent and radiant smiles.

Suddenly, the thought popped into my head that I should send Shao Heng and Shao Meng to this place.

"Shaoheng, would you like to come here and play with your friends after the New Year?"

"I want to," Shao Heng nodded, munching on some maltose candy.

"Okay, we'll study here next year."

Ji Chen was planning his future. If he wanted his child to attend school here, he would at least need to buy or rent a house in the surrounding area.

His construction team is now ready, and he can earn at least several thousand yuan by completing the work at the township health center.

Then we won't have to worry about any school fees for our children.

"Uncle, will I really call you Dad from now on? And Auntie and Mom?"

"Yes," Ji Chen replied decisively.

Ji Chen bought some food and snacks and brought them back to the hospital.

He saw Jiang Xue curled up asleep next to Shao Meng. He looked at Jiang Xue's fair and delicate face, her forehead pressed against Shao Meng's, his eyes full of reluctance to part with her. It seemed that Jiang Xue had really been exhausted today.

He placed the food on the cabinet and carefully covered Jiang Xue with the blanket.

Although he moved very quietly, he still managed to wake Jiang Xue.

"You're back?" Jiang Xue got up, her first thought was to check if Shao Heng was feeling any better.

Seeing Shao Heng sitting there with a blank expression, munching on a lollipop, her heart, which had been clenched in pain, finally relaxed.
