Chapter 142 Stopping

Jiang Jianwei's eyes widened and lit up, but soon dimmed again as he shook his head.

"The idea is good, but that bitch Jiang Wanqing has long since severed ties with my family. I'm only related to her by seniority as an uncle now, and I have no other connection with her."

"That's enough."

"But……"

Having gone through so much, Jiang Jianwei was truly frightened. With his family members taking turns going to prison, if they committed another crime, he might end up in jail.

"But what? Think about your daughter. If it weren't for our Factory Director Zheng's kindness in taking her in, she would have died on the street long ago! You and your wife have a few years left to live. Don't think about being desperate and living a life of poverty. What do you say?"

Jiang Jianwei finished his cigarette, his eyes gradually falling into deep thought and consideration. Just as he came back to his senses, he found that the cigarette had been refilled. He took a few puffs, threw it on the ground, and stomped it out.

"Fine! Anyway, the emperor is far away, so let me taste what it's like to be powerful!"

"That's more like it, don't make yourself suffer." The man surnamed Wang patted his shoulder and urged him on.

...

The train traveled north, and the scenery outside the window gradually changed. We saw sunshine and rain, and even the temperature inside the carriage changed along with it.

As soon as she got out of the car, Jiang Wanqing couldn't immediately adapt to the change in temperature and couldn't help but shrink her neck.

She was already very familiar with the train station in Beijing. Although she had told Cheng Ran in advance that she was coming back today, she did not ask him to come and pick her up. So after getting off the train, she carried her luggage and walked out of the station by herself.

"Comrade, do you want to read a newspaper? Would you like a copy?"

A newspaper vendor outside stopped her, and she politely waved him off. But when she turned around, she was startled by Guo Xueyun's sudden appearance.

The other person looked at her with a half-smile and said, "I want to talk to you."

The tone wasn't one of discussion, but rather an order. Jiang Wanqing frowned, ignored her, and walked in a different direction.

"Stop right there!" Guo Xueyun wasn't going to let it go and blocked her way.

"If you don't talk to me today, I'll follow you wherever you go and see if I'm more persistent or you can run away faster!"

She spread her arms wide, looking like a rogue, but when she saw Jiang Wanqing stop, she spoke with disdain.

"I know you're getting off now, so I can find out where you're going next. While I still have the patience, you'd better come with me."

"Are you out of your mind?"

"you……"

Although Jiang Wanqing is unyielding to both soft and hard approaches, Guo Xueyun's attitude is so firm that there's no way she'll obediently follow along.

People were coming and going outside the station. Jiang Wanqing was about to hail a rickshaw on the street and quickly shook off the person.

To everyone's surprise, the woman disregarded her image, grabbing her upper body as if she were about to throw a tantrum on the ground.

You can't leave!

"Comrade, this..." The rickshaw driver hesitated to pull her away upon seeing this.

"You go first."

Helpless, Jiang Wanqing could only ask the driver to find other business, since dragging things out like this was not a solution.

She shook her hand, but the man, like an octopus with a strong suction, held on tightly and wouldn't let go.

"What exactly do you want?!"

"I don't want to do anything. I want to talk to you. Come with me."

"Hmph, you think I'll just go with you because you say so? You'd better beg me."

Jiang Wanqing gave a forced smile, her face and eyes were icy. She saw a fleeting panic in the other person's eyes, so she bent down slightly.

"I'm not afraid of making a fool of myself in public. You know I've been through things that are more embarrassing than this. But it would be bad if you, Teacher Guo, were recognized."

It would have been better if she hadn't said anything. As soon as she did, Guo Xueyun felt like every pair of eyes was looking at her, and she instinctively raised her hand to cover her face.

The officers at the station police station noticed the situation and came over to question Jiang Wanqing.

Do you need help?

"need……"

"No, no need." Guo Xueyun quickly interrupted, looking at her pleadingly: "I beg you, I beg you, please, you have to come with me today, please."

Her attitude wasn't exactly sincere, but it was passable. Jiang Wanqing curled her lips and shook her head at the police officer.

"Thank you. We know each other. We had a minor disagreement, but we can handle it ourselves."

"Okay, that's good. Let's resolve this properly and not resort to violence. We're all comrades, we can't fight amongst ourselves."

After a lengthy explanation and re-education, the police officer left, glancing back several times to make sure the conflict wouldn't escalate, before returning to his post to help others.

Guo Xueyun released her grip, took a deep breath, and said, "Come with me."

"Hmm?" Jiang Wanqing remained motionless.

She bit her lower lip in anger, clutching the hem of her clothes with both hands. The humiliation shot straight to the top of her head, and she managed to suppress it with a few closes of her eyes.

“I beg you, come with me,” she said again.

"That's more like it."

The streets were bustling with people and cars. Jiang Wanqing had thought that she was going to take her to a small teahouse nearby, but she didn't expect that she had come with her family's driver.

As soon as she got into the car, Guo Xueyun felt like she was back on her own turf, and she reverted to her previous arrogant demeanor.

"Stop looking, you'll never be able to afford this car in your entire life."

"Shall I go down?"

Before the car even started moving, she pretended to open the door and get out, which startled Guo Xueyun, who quickly grabbed her.

"Drive now!" she shouted at the driver.

Where are you taking me?

Although I'm not afraid of her causing trouble, it's always good to be cautious and I need to find out more about her.

"You haven't resolved the important matter for me yet, so I won't kill you. Don't worry."

"Hmph, that depends on whether you have the ability to kill me."

The two exchanged words back and forth, with Jiang Wanqing remaining calm and composed, while her opponent quickly lost ground. The driver didn't even dare to glance back, only focusing on increasing the car's speed.

The road was relatively quiet. The car gradually drove from the bustling city center into a quiet and tidy residential area. Jiang Wanqing was not familiar with this place, but judging from the clothes, it should be the place where people of high status lived.

"Are you going to take me to your house?"

After thinking for just two seconds, Jiang Wanqing had her answer. She looked at Guo Xueyun with a puzzled expression.

"What, you don't dare?"

"I don't know how old your parents are. What if they're too old to argue with me and have to suffer along with their spineless daughter?"

This is the ultimate way to kill someone by destroying their spirit. Upon hearing this, the driver's hand on the steering wheel trembled slightly. He stepped on the gas and quickly parked the car in front of the Guo family's house.

"Comrade Xiao Guo, we've arrived."

"We're here, do you think I'm blind? Get off!"

She opened the car door and strode out, clearly still furious at Jiang Wanqing's words.

“Comrade, you…” The driver got out of the car to open the door for Jiang Wanqing.

"Since we're already here, let's go in and take a look."

In this place, she believed she was safe. Otherwise, if something happened, the Guo family would lose their reputation, which was a minor matter; they probably wouldn't be able to stay in the Beijing area anymore. They certainly wouldn't do anything stupid.

Guo Xueyun barged into the house. Her parents were pacing anxiously in the living room. When they saw her return, they hurriedly asked her what was wrong.

"Where is she? Did you bring her?"

"Are you two old comrades looking for me?" Jiang Wanqing asked calmly.
