Chapter 175 Provocation

Cheng Ran pulled Hong Xing out from behind the telephone pole and immediately cut him off before he could speak.

"Come with me if you don't want to be discovered."

Molly's parents were still there, and in fact, they were still furious. If Hung Hing went over there now, the scene would be unimaginable, and it seemed that he had no intention of showing up.

Therefore, Hung Hing obediently followed Cheng Ran and left.

By the time Molly came out, the two men were long gone, and she didn't see Hung Hing either...

Many factories are under construction nearby, so many temporary tents have been set up around the area, where people sell soup, tea, and boxed meals.

They found a relatively quiet stall, sat down, and ordered a pot of tea and some side dishes.

"Brother Cheng, I'll be leaving soon, you don't need to spend any money."

"I'm hungry, can't I eat something?"

"No, you can eat it, of course you can eat it." Hung Hing twitched the corner of his mouth.

I thought he would at least ask me why I didn't go to see Molly today, since I had said before that I would give him an answer regardless of whether I went into Jiang Wanqing's factory or not.

But when the food arrived, Cheng Ran ate most of it without saying a word, as if he really was just there to eat.

However, the more he acted this way, the more uneasy Hung Hing became, feeling like he was sitting on pins and needles. Unable to bear it any longer, he took the initiative to change the subject.

"Brother Cheng, you must be upset that I didn't show up today, right? I know I chickened out today..."

"You are indeed a coward, but I have no right to blame you. I told you long ago that everything is up to you," Cheng Ran replied calmly.

He couldn't detect disappointment, nor could he detect joy or anger, but Hung Hing felt increasingly guilty.

He looked up and asked cautiously, "You don't blame me, then Molly..."

What do you think?

Finally, after discerning some emotion from his tone, Hung Hing swallowed hard.

"sorry……"

"I told you, don't apologize to me, go apologize to the person who deserves it."

Cheng Ran looked into his eyes and finally couldn't help but pat his head twice, just like he used to do in the army.

“Your mistake today wasn’t coming, it was being indecisive. Either stay at the grain depot and give Molly an answer—say you’re not coming—or come openly and honestly. Your hesitation and indecisiveness will eventually ruin both of you. I can’t say for sure whether Molly is angry or not, but her parents are very unhappy. Aren’t you just making things difficult for yourself?”

"I……"

He lowered his head, took two sips of his tea, and remained silent for a while before finally revealing his true thoughts.

“I don’t know what I want to do, I can’t figure it out. I can’t let go of Molly, but I have to. I also want to make something of myself and be with him openly and honestly, but you can see what I’m like now, Brother Cheng…”

As he spoke, his eyes began to redden. He didn't shed tears, but it was almost as bad as if he were.

"Useless!"

After a long while, Cheng Ran felt a sense of frustration and disappointment.

"Brother Cheng, I want... I want to go back to my hometown." He lowered his head again.

Cheng Ran narrowed his eyes, staring at him sharply, remaining silent for a long time until the teapot was empty.

He got up, grabbed Hung Hing by the collar, and led him into the factory.

He shouted a couple of times, and as more and more people gathered, he felt it was too embarrassing, so he quietly let himself be dragged along.

They arrived at Jiang Wanqing's office just as the family members who had attended the ceremony left, including the two elders of the Mo family. As for Mo Li, no one knew where she had gone.

Jiang Wanqing was not surprised to see Hung Hing. She simply closed the door calmly and asked him to sit down.

"It seems you still haven't been able to make a decision on your own."

"sister in law……"

"I'm still keeping this position for you. This is the last time I'm asking you: are you still coming back?"

Jiang Wanqing didn't say anything else, but with a single sentence, she instantly silenced the other person.

To come or not to come? That is the question. It's not a matter of life or death, but it concerns his relationship with Molly, and even their future.

After about three minutes, seeing that he still hadn't answered, Cheng Ran secretly gave Jiang Wanqing a wink, and she nodded in understanding.

Before Hong Xing could even think it through, Cheng Ran grabbed him by the collar and dragged him outside.

"Don't even think about it. Judging from your appearance, you don't seem to want to stay here. I'll grant your wish. From now on, we won't interfere in your affairs."

Cheng Ran was incredibly strong; he almost threw Hong Xinghe out the door with just one hand.

Fortunately, the sudden jolt brought Hung Hing back to his senses, and he quickly grabbed onto the door frame.

"Brother Cheng, I'm not leaving!"

"Not leaving? What are you doing here? Are you going to make us watch you cower and cower, or make us watch you with a long face on such a beautiful day?"

He wasn't particularly sharp-tongued, and he didn't use any foul language, but every word he uttered struck a nerve with Hung Hing.

His fingers clenched so tightly they turned white, but he didn't give up at all. His gaze gradually hardened, and finally he looked up at Jiang Wanqing.

"Sister-in-law, I believe you. As long as I stay, you can guarantee I'll make something of myself, right?"

"Yes, I not only guarantee you'll make something of yourself, I can also make sure you return home in glory."

She still has that much confidence. At least as someone who has experienced modernization, her perspective is different from that of people in this era. Others on the same track pose no threat to her.

Cheng Ran gradually relaxed and retreated to his office.

Seeing that he was still somewhat afraid, Hung Hing cautiously walked to the desk.

"Here, sign this contract, and from now on, you'll make money with us."

In order to keep him in this position, Jiang Wanqing had prepared the contract long ago. He would sign it if he came, and the contract would not be used on someone else if he didn't come.
