Chapter 293 Staying for the New Year

The two chatted for more than two hours. After chatting for more than two hours, they had a thorough understanding of what was happening in the space. They had also had enough tea, so they decided to go and take a look around.

Grandpa Wu rode his beloved electric scooter and took Grandpa Li for a walk. With a clever listener who could draw inferences from one instance, Grandpa Wu acted as a tour guide, introducing each factory and community. Before they knew it, it was already the middle of the night, and the two of them finally fell asleep in the space.

Grandpa Li was very accepting of the toilet and shower in the bathroom, because that was what he used at home in Kyoto and he was very used to it, but it was just not as good as this one.

After sleeping until seven, the two went to the cafeteria for lunch. Seeing such delicious big white steamed buns, rice, various fresh vegetables, meat, eggs, and milk, the old man had a lot of ideas in his mind. The fifth grandfather understood him. As they ate, they briefly talked about why large quantities of food could not be supplied outside. The process behind this was very insightful.

Why didn’t he come during the Chinese New Year last year? It was because the fighting up there was so intense that it involved his sons.

Cheng Lirang, who was in a good mood, ate too much again. Uncle Wu took him to the meeting room where he usually worked. The two of them took a walk outside first. After all, the driver was still at home, and he was afraid that he would become suspicious if he didn't see him early in the morning. Cheng Lirang also planned to let the driver drive back by himself, as he would spend the New Year here.

Back home in Kyoto, the children are busy, so only the nanny and the driver are at home with him. How wonderful! There are many old comrades, including the good brother Lao Wu, and he said he would never leave.

After spending ten minutes outside, I sent the driver away, carrying a slew of local specialties from Lao Wu's daughter-in-law. A large basket of salted duck eggs, a large bag of dried sweet potatoes—not the dry kind, but soft and delicious inside. Two large bags of white flour, four large bags of cornmeal, two large bags of rice, and half a pig—the entire back seat was stuffed to the brim, with even more on the passenger seat. With this, the children of Kyoto will have a great New Year!

Professor Dong hadn't actually planned to bring so many things today. She didn't know what Cheng Lirang's children were like, and she was worried about bringing them back and causing trouble. She'd been reading a lot of period novels lately, and they told her that even cooking a poor meal in a compound could get you reported.

But Fifth Grandpa wouldn't have it! He knew all too well what Li Cheng was doing to those well-behaved kids. So, he took bags of stuff out of the space, put them in the kitchen, and had the driver carry them out to the car. He even stuffed a basket of meat buns under the passenger seat. It was cold now, and the car didn't have a heater, so it was perfect; they wouldn't go bad in Kyoto. As he stuffed the stuff into the car, Li Cheng instructed the driver on how to explain it to the kids and how to arrange it.

After sending the driver away from the packed car, Professor Dong and Sun Mofei walked hand in hand to the mill to get tofu. That morning, Grandpa Wu had brought half a bag of soybeans to the mill in exchange for tofu. It was almost ready by then. While you can buy tofu on Taobao, it's not as delicious as tofu ground right here in the village. Different beans definitely have different tastes.

Fifth Grandpa and Li Chengrang entered the house and quickly slipped into the space. Li Chengrang planned not to come out for the next few days. He also noticed that this woman was interested in Fifth Grandpa. Anyway, Sun Mofei was interested in Fifth Grandpa. Li Chengrang could go wherever he wanted and no one would ask. If Professor Dong asked, he would just give an excuse and it would be over.

After entering the space, Fifth Grandpa used the intercom to invite several old comrades to a gathering at noon.
