Chapter 711 Busy Jiang Huashu (XI)

At this time, Lao Ding proposed his own proposal to the factory: to utilize the existing conditions, modify some of the existing machine tools, and produce bicycles part-time. He also wrote a series of detailed plans, which showed that he had been planning this for a long time.

This proposal was passed unanimously at the meeting, and Lao Ding participated in all subsequent implementations. A few months later, not only were all the factory workers' wages paid, but bonuses were also received, and even the factory's separate treasury was full.

Because of this incident, Lao Ding has consolidated his basic position in the factory and gained a small number of supporters. In fact, people's thinking is simple: whoever can help them get a salary and keep them alive is the one they support.

Moreover, many workers in the factory come from rural areas. In the more than half a month after they received their wages, the Ding family, who lived in the staff quarters, received several simple "gifts" from the farmers every day.

Sometimes it was a few pumpkins, sometimes a bunch of bok choy, and sometimes a bag of beans... In short, his family never bought any vegetables during that period. Even Jiang Huashu's family occasionally received farm vegetables delivered by Lao Ding on his bicycle.

Not long after, Lao Ding set his sights on a new industry: CNC machine tools.

In 1973, the first CNC lathe, the CSK6163, was successfully developed at the Shenyang No. 1 Machine Tool Plant, heralding the arrival of automation in China's lathe industry. At the time, this field was completely untapped in China. In those backward times, China didn't even have a single independently developed CNC machine tool. Everything depended on imports, and crucially, there was no foreign exchange. To earn foreign currency, many products were sold at a low price. How could one describe the feeling back then? It felt like being stuck, unable to move.

In 1980, Lao Ding proposed to research precision machine tools. Jiang Huashu encouraged him very much. Looking at the brother he had trained step by step, Jiang Huashu was extremely proud.

Later, he directly told the factory that he wanted to go to the north. Light industry is in the south, heavy industry is in the north. Most of China's heavy industry is in northern cities. Old Ding packed a bundle and boarded a train to Shenyang, beginning his research journey.

This topic had been proposed, studied, and failed by countless experts before. Jiang Huashu actually knew the outcome, so he strongly supported Lao Ding's decision.

Shenyang No. 1 Machine Tool Factory is located in Shenyang, a heavy industrial city in the north, and is the big brother of our country's machine tool industry.

Upon arriving, Lao Ding handed his introduction to the relevant personnel and dove right into the workshop. Having worked as a laborer for years, he was well-versed in the various aspects of the operation. After repeated attempts and persistent research, he finally developed the Rex series of precision lathes in 1982. These lathes boasted high precision, low noise, and excellent reliability, reaching the highest level domestically at the time.

Because of these lathes, investment from Country R was attracted, and the company eventually became the first manufacturer in the domestic lathe industry to cooperate with foreign companies in the production of lathes.

Old Ding's ability is truly remarkable. Jiang Huashu kept praising him after learning about it. He wasn't just praising Old Ding for his ability, but also praising his own vision and ability to cultivate people. Look, isn't this another person who, through his hard work, is diligently contributing to the realization of the four modernizations of the motherland?
