"Here I come."
The three of them waited for most of the night, and finally the howling of wolves was heard outside the house.
Ningxia checked the pistol in his hand again. The ammunition was also in the leg bag, within reach.
Mu Yuanqing held Ningxia's military crossbow, the quiver at his waist filled with arrows, while Liu Ximu held the large bow from home, ready to shoot.
All three of them have good accuracy, which they developed at the Dawn Base.
The howling of wolves was getting closer and closer, and judging from the noise, there were quite a few of them. Ningxia and Mu Yuanqing looked at each other and saw seriousness in each other's eyes.
The three of them didn't dare to move. They leaned against the door and looked out through the gap. They saw eyes glowing green.
Ningxia made a rough estimate and found that there were about fifty or sixty of them. His palms were covered with sweat, and the two people beside him were also as if they were facing a great enemy and dared not breathe.
The sounds came outside the house, and Ningxia even felt them breathing heavily into her ears.
"Ah!!" As the first wolf stepped into the trap, the wolves outside began to howl, as if warning each other of something.
The three of them looked at each other and said, "Now is the time!"
The three of them quickly lit the torches in their hands, opened the door, and walked out with their bodies hunched.
They tacitly lit the heavily guarded fire racks lined up in front of them. The narrow courtyard suddenly became bright.
Seeing the scene clearly, even the three people who had seen big scenes in the woods couldn't help but hold their breath. They were surrounded.
There were wolves all around the Mu family yard not far away. Except for the one that was still howling in the trap, it seemed that the other wolves were too vigilant and retreated.
Each of them had a fierce look in their eyes, their fur sticking to their bodies in a somewhat disheveled manner, their tails hanging on the ground, their claws arched forward, ready to strike, and muffled roars in their throats. They bared their teeth and stared at the three people in the extremely bright center of the yard. It was obvious that the unknown danger and the fire had temporarily frightened them.
"Stiff?" Ningxia asked in a low voice.
Mu Yuanqing shook his head gently. "They'll pounce on us sooner or later. I'll count to three, and then we'll attack together. Xixi will be on the left, I'll be in the middle, and Ningxia, you'll have to work harder and keep an eye on the livestock shed on the right."
Ningxia nodded, "No problem."
"one,"
"two,"
Ningxia silently loaded the pistol and raised it to face the thin but extremely ferocious wolf closest to her side.
Liu Ximu also drew his bow.
"Three! Do it!"
"Bang bang bang bang bang bang!" A series of six gunshots seemed to scare the wolves, but they were only panicked for a moment, and then they immediately reacted and pounced forward one after another.
Ningxia's hands were so fast that his movements could not be seen clearly. In two breaths, the ammunition was reloaded and another series of gunshots rang out.
Mu Yuanqing kept firing from the crossbow in her hand, and in a short time she had shot down five or six wolves. The arrows of her and Liu Ximu were all soaked in poison water, and their lethality was no less than the pistol in Ningxia's hand.
Liu Ximu was a little slow in drawing the bow and arrow, but fortunately there were relatively few wolves in his direction, so nothing went wrong.
The blazing fire illuminated the faces of the three people, all of whom were filled with murderous intent.
The howling outside was getting louder and louder, and the wolves were getting closer and closer. They seemed to be unaware of the pain, and in a short while, several wolves had fallen into the trap outside the yard.
There were more than ten corpses piled up. It was not until two or three wolves broke into the yard and were caught in the traps and sank into the poisoned nails, falling to the ground and wailing continuously, that the wolves decided to retreat temporarily.
"Bang bang bang!" Another burst of gunfire rang out, and the arrows from Mu Yuanqing and Liu Ximu beside him never stopped whizzing. The wolves finally retreated back to the outside of the yard temporarily, and the two sides confronted each other silently.
"Are you okay?"
Mu Yuanqing nodded, then looked at Liu Ximu, "Xixi, are you okay?"
After all, the weapon Liu Ximu used was no lighter than theirs.
Liu Ximu quietly rubbed his extremely sore arm and said, "I'm fine."
"Will they retreat?" Ningxia took a deep breath and looked at the tribe outside the yard who were still watching with eager eyes.
Mu Yuanqing shook his head, his tone solemn, "No, not only no, tonight, we will fight to the death."
The hatred in the eyes of those beasts can be easily detected, so how can we be willing to retreat?
Ningxia suddenly remembered Lao Liao's sad face, saying that the wolves held a grudge and ambushed him and Xiaojie. She pursed her lips secretly. She had to decide the outcome tonight, otherwise, her family might suffer as well.
Ningxia’s home on the other side.
"Brother, there's a gunshot! Is that Xia Xia?"
Lin Yi didn't dare tell Sangsang the truth. Sangsang just thought that Ningxia went hunting like last time he went up the mountain.
The atmosphere in the room was extremely solemn. Even Liu Qingtian, who was always restless, snuggled up to Sangsang, staring with his eyes wide open in silence.
"Where are you going, little monkey?" Sangsang shouted as he watched the figure suddenly jump out of the air vent.
"Don't chase it, let it go." Xiaojie grabbed Sangsang who wanted to get up.
Perhaps it was because his brother and Xiaojie's faces looked too ugly that Sangsang realized belatedly that something was wrong.
"But..."
Xiao Jie forced an ugly smile, "It's okay, its brother is still here." He pointed to the monkey Xiaopeng who was playing with Lin Yi's clothes, "It will come back."
Sangsang had no choice but to sit back down, holding Liu Qingtian's chubby little hand, trying to suppress the inexplicable panic in her heart.
"It's coming again!" Ningxia lowered his voice and raised the pistol again.
The three of them stared fiercely at the tribe that was crawling forward step by step in front of them.
As a loud and clear howl sounded from the wolf pack, the wolves attacked again!
Ningxia was shooting while distracting his eyes. The one he saw just now must be a wolf. If he didn't find it, he would die here tonight.
Her eyes scanned the pack of wolves that had just made the sound, and she heard another "Awooo~" and found it!
Ningxia turned around and faced the front of the yard. With sharp eyes and a slight trembling of his wrist, he pulled the trigger hard at the gray-white leader of the pack, which was slightly larger and had half of its right ear missing.
"Bang!" Missed! The leader wolf seemed to sense danger and leaped forward, just barely avoiding the bullet fired by Ningxia, which swerved into the cheek of the other wolf.
Before Ningxia could look for the leader wolf again, two wolves suddenly jumped in from her right side, whose defense line had become extremely weak because she was facing forward. Instead of rushing into the livestock shed, they ignored the fire and rushed straight towards Ningxia.
“Ningxia!”
Ningxia reacted quickly, dodging one but running her thigh right into the fangs of the other.
"Ouch." She groaned in pain and raised her hand to shoot another wolf that was about to pounce on her.
The pistol in her hand was out of bullets at this time. There was no time to replace it. The skin and flesh on her leg were torn off, and blood was spilled all over the ground. She saw the wolf with blood in its mouth and gleaming eyes about to jump onto her neck.
"Swish!" It was Mu Yuanqing's arrow.
The crisis was temporarily resolved.
"Are you okay?" Unable to free his hands to support her, Mu Yuanqing stared straight ahead, the crossbow in his hand not stopping, and shouted at Ningxia lying on the ground.
Ningxia ignored the piercing pain, gritted her teeth and stood up again. In a few breaths, her forehead was covered with cold sweat. "It's okay." She squeezed out two words from between her teeth.
