Ningxia leaned against the wall behind him, his cold brows full of hostility, but he did not slack off in the slightest in raising his hand to shoot because of his leg injury.
The three of them gritted their teeth and persevered. All the traps, big and small, in the yard were almost all trampled to pieces. There were more than ten wolves, big and small, lying in the yard.
Even so, more than twenty of them continued to rush forward. Their defenses were repeatedly breached, and they had gone from scattered positions to tightly packed together, right next to the three remaining fires.
As for the livestock shed, there was no time to worry about it. Thinking of Maomao's bright eyes, Ningxia's eyes flashed with sorrow, and beads of sweat kept dripping from her pale face.
“Ah Qing!!”
Ningxia turned her head to look and saw that Mu Yuanqing had been bitten on the left wrist by the wolves, and blood was dripping from her wrist like broken strings.
Liu Ximu raised his arrow and stabbed it fiercely at the wolf head on Mu Yuanqing's wrist. He was caught off guard by two wolves that swarmed up and bit his shoulder and back, respectively, tearing off two pieces of flesh.
Ningxia concentrated and fired three shots in a row.
The three of them huddled together back to back, and one of their fires was put out again. The wolves around them were getting closer and closer.
"It seems that I will die here today." Mu Yuanqing smiled bitterly. He couldn't lift his injured left hand, leaving only his right hand holding the crossbow stubbornly.
A large area of Liu Ximu's back was soaked with blood, and he could no longer lift the bow in his hand. He was left with only two arrows to fight back.
He smiled nonchalantly, "You saved my life. Ah Qing, I'm very happy to meet you."
Mu Yuanqing's eyes were red, but he stubbornly refused to let the tears fall, "I'm sorry for making you wait for me for so long..."
Liu Ximu struggled to lift his aching arm and held Mu Yuanqing's injured left hand. "If there is another life, I will definitely find you first, and then continue to wait for you."
The warm blood of the two people wrapped around the two tightly clasped hands, mixed with each other and dripping from the fingertips, which was thrilling.
Ningxia also laughed, "That's enough, you two."
The three of them were dejected. Mu Yuanqing smiled apologetically at Ningxia, "I'm sorry, I was planning to let you retreat first if the situation wasn't right, but I didn't expect so many..."
Ningxia's smile grew even brighter, the still-hot blood on her face reflecting light, "It's not over yet! Here we go again!"
It happened in a flash. Just as the leader wolf howled again to command the rest of the wolves to rush forward, and the three of them were preparing for the final attack with a mentality of going to die, a group of unknown creatures fell from the sky, howling and rushing into the battlefield.
"Little Monkey!" Ningxia widened her eyes.
The little monkey at the front of the group, who was wearing unusual clothes and was particularly conspicuous, turned around and was obviously much more excited when he saw her. He chirped at her twice and joined the battle.
Mu Yuanqing and Liu Ximu looked at each other. She looked at the monkey wearing a funny sweater in the melee, and a lot of blood was sprayed on the bright white bib.
The monkey with a ferocious face and exposed fangs looked like two completely different monkeys from the silly and cute monkey I saw yesterday.
"Is this... those two things from yesterday afternoon?"
The crisis around him was temporarily resolved. Ningxia stared at the battle situation ahead and said, "Stop talking nonsense and help them!"
Although the monkey group was much weaker than the wolf group, they had the advantage of large numbers. The remaining wolves had been hungry for a long time, and they had been fighting a tug-of-war with Ningxia and the others for a long time, so it was difficult to determine the winner for a while.
"Little monkey, be careful!" Ningxia had no time to support with his gun, and could only watch as Little Monkey was severely scratched on his thin chest by a wolf.
The little monkey dodged nimbly, turned around and roared at the wolf that was attacking it. Its usually kind face wrinkled up, and its eyes were full of ferocity. It nimbly and fiercely gouged out the wolf's eyeballs. The wolf howled and fell to the ground, unable to get up for a long time.
"Good job! Little monkey!" Ningxia shot the wolf that was about to pounce on it from behind and couldn't help cheering.
The battle intensified, and the corpses of monkeys on the ground gradually piled up. Ningxia, distracted by the safety of his little monkey friend, also caught sight of the old monkey on a treetop not far away. His eyes shifted, and he saw it was the wolf!
"Mu Yuanqing! Keep an eye on the little monkey! Don't let anything happen to it!" After giving these instructions, Ningxia raised his gun and focused on following the leader wolf who was fighting fiercely with the monkey group in front. With a slight movement of his wrist, it was now!
"Bang!"
With the leader falling to the ground, the brutal battle finally came to an end. The morale of the remaining ten or so wolves plummeted when they saw their leader fall. Soon they were beaten by the monkeys and fled with their tails between their legs.
Only a few injured and unable to move forward were left wailing in place.
The old monkey jumped off the branch and roared twice at the monkey group, and the remaining monkeys retreated.
"Little monkey!" Ningxia didn't care about his leg injury and went forward to hug the small figure. After seeing who it was, the little monkey gradually retracted its fangs, squeaked twice, and blood flowed out of its mouth.
"Little monkey friend! Little monkey friend!" The little monkey in front of him kept heaving his chest and fell limply into Ningxia's arms.
The old monkey called the monkey group and was about to leave with the injured monkey. It came to Ningxia, and its meaning was obvious.
"Give it to me." Ningxia's eyes were red.
The old monkey refused and moved forward anyway.
"Give it to me! You don't have any medicine! I can save it!"
The old monkey seemed unwilling to give in and roared at Ningxia a few times, then compromised and turned to leave.
"I don't know if you can understand me, but I have medicine. Bring your injured monkey to my house tomorrow!" Ningxia shouted at it with all her might.
The old monkey did not stop for a moment, and the group of monkeys left very quickly.
The yard was filled with corpses and a river of blood, but the only surviving fire was still burning fiercely, without a trace of dejection.
"Put it down!" Mu Yuanqing had already sprinkled a layer of medicine powder on his hands and directed Ningxia to put the little monkey on the sofa.
Ningxia quickly did as he was told.
"This is for human consumption. I don't know if it's okay for it to eat it." Liu Ximu took out another bottle of pills.
"Try it! Master, try it!" Ningxia nodded quickly.
Liu Ximu stuffed the pill into the monkey's mouth, then went forward to treat the wound on its chest.
"Let's deal with your leg too." Mu Yuanqing pulled Ningxia and looked at the other's thigh which was still bleeding.
Ningxia came back to her senses and withdrew her gaze from lingering behind Monkey, only then did she feel the pain.
"Sit down, I'll take care of it for you."
Ningxia sat down obediently and let the other party treat her wounds. "How's the livestock shed?"
"I don't know. I haven't seen it yet."
"I'll go take a look."
"Sit down, I'll go." Mu Yuanqing swiftly wrapped his wrist with a cloth strip, then picked up the crossbow and walked towards the livestock shed.
There was a small hole in the big wooden door of the livestock shed. Mu Yuanqing pushed the door open cautiously, but the situation inside was not as tragic as she had imagined. There was only a dying wolf on the ground with a half-eaten piece of mutton in its mouth.
Mu Yuanqing was delighted and hurried forward to check on the situation of those people.
