Chapter 15: Conversation with Vera (Part 2)

Lai: "You are a virgin, you are disgusting."

Ben: "You were married in your 20s, and I'm only 19. What's wrong with me?" I didn't feel angry, but very happy instead.

In the afternoon, a new round of defense began. Lai stepped on the heavy machine gun, and Daben kept debugging the machine gun and cooling it down back and forth.

The infected bodies below were constantly being blasted into pieces by machine guns. I also used the remaining machine guns of other team members to shoot, and then the military phone rang.

Daben answered the phone: "This is the front line. How long will it take for rescue to arrive? How much longer do we have to hold out? Many of the positions ahead have been breached."

"According to our drone observations, the infected you're currently fighting aren't the main force. Please hold out until the main force arrives, and we'll immediately launch missiles."

Big Ben: "Isn't this the same as abandoning us?"

"That's right, but I still hope you can hold on." The call was disconnected after he finished speaking. Big Ben put down the phone, held back his tears, and returned to his battle position.

We fought like this until the next morning. The infected bodies had spread to the foot of our building, and many infected bodies were climbing upstairs rapidly. I blocked the stairs and shot at these infected bodies with a machine gun, but the bullets were soon used up.

I could only quickly retreat to the roof. As soon as I reached the roof, I found that some infected bodies had jumped over from the building next door. Daben and Lai were already lying in a pool of blood, struggling in pain. My pupils dilated instantly, and anger filled my whole body. I picked up the two knives next to me.

Thinking about the moves my father taught me, I held two knives in front of me and poured out my anger almost madly. For some reason, the infected body stopped climbing up and the infected body on the top floor was finally eliminated.

I collapsed on the ground, the two alloy knives had been cut into pieces, and my hands were bleeding from the handles.

I was gasping for breath, looking at the bodies of my teammates beside me. I didn't realize that tears were already flowing down along with the sweat, and I felt extremely sad inside.

At this time, Big Ben dragged his broken body and seemed to have something to say. I quickly put my ear to his face.

He used all his strength and said, "Miss Death, it's time for you to send us away."

I clung to his body and cried. Da Ben: "Thank you, beautiful god of death."

I slowly stood up, took out the pistol from my pocket and whispered to myself, "May death bless you." Shortly afterwards, five gunshots echoed in the building.

The military phone finally rang: "Is anyone still alive?"

I picked up the phone: "Report, I, Medic Vera, am the only one alive."

The person on the other end of the line was stunned for a moment, then continued, "Received. We are deeply sorry for this. We are now conducting a blanket bombing of the entire city. Please take shelter in the air-raid shelter immediately. Death God, Commander Connie wants you alive. This is an order to be carried out immediately."

After listening to this, I took the knife with difficulty, opened the door of the basement, went in, and waited quietly for the bombing.

After the bombing, I walked out of the basement and looked outside at the collapsed building. I looked carefully and saw some human body fragments. The machine gun was blown away with only the barrel left. There were also some living infected bodies, dragging their limbs and struggling in pain.

I rushed forward and finished off the enemy without hesitation, shouting, "Die, all of you." I had no idea that reinforcements had arrived. The soldiers who came over saw how crazy I was, and quickly came over to grab me and took me back.

Connie sat in front of me. He lifted my face and looked at my numb look and sighed heavily.

Then he said, "Tomorrow you have to go with us to the Heavenly Ladder Retreat. Because your physical fitness is higher than that of ordinary people in various examinations, you have qualified for the Heavenly Ladder. The Heavenly Ladder will start exercising tomorrow."

I was surprised and asked, "But don't we have to wait another month?"

Connie: "That's a trick to fool those people. If it really is a month later, wouldn't that be a big problem?"

Connie looked at me, still unmoved. Connie: "Vera, do you hate the infected?"

I nodded. Connie said, "That's fine. You've been called the Grim Reaper for a long time now, and everyone's opinion of you has changed. In prosperous times, the Grim Reaper was despised, but in this situation, to be honest, no one is afraid of you anymore, except for those stubborn believers. Who in the army would spit on you? There are even many people willing to follow you in search of liberation."

I looked up at the soldiers around me, who had removed their helmets to reveal their battle-ravaged faces as a sign of respect. Commander Connie's words woke me from my daze.

By the next day, although the news was blocked, some people still got the information.

They cried and tried to rush in, but were mercilessly shot by the soldiers: "Why should that god of death be able to get in too?"

"Don't you know how much disaster he has brought to us?"

"Why shoot? You should shoot her. It's all because of her." I walked into the ladder without changing my expression when I heard these words.

After arriving at the Hanging Gardens, I decisively chose to become a more powerful construct, because the Grim Reaper should look like the Grim Reaper.

As soon as she finished saying this, Vera lay on the ground holding the bottle of wine and fell asleep while talking. The story was not finished yet. I looked at the girl who was already sleeping soundly on the ground. Unlike her usual crazy self, she seemed exceptionally quiet now.

His tragic experience made him very lovable. I gently picked him up and walked to the dormitory of the three-headed dog team. I used Vera's ID card to open the door and slowly put her on the bed: The title of "Death God" is really sad.

Although I don't know exactly what Miss Vera experienced on the East Plains, I am sure that there are many fellow souls standing behind her.
