Grouping

Grouping

The afternoon recording was set up as a challenge segment, which the trainees found amazing.

Lin Ting also found it amazing, but he didn't show it and just followed the program's instructions.

According to the production team, there will be rewards for those who rank high in the challenges, but the specifics will be revealed later.

"Our next step requires us to work in teams. Don't rush to invite people to join. Let me explain the requirements for forming a team first."

"First, four people in each group."

There are 32 trainees in total, and they are divided into 8 groups, so there won't be any awkward situations where someone is left out.

As soon as Lin Ting finished speaking, people began to whisper among themselves, preparing to form groups.

"Secondly, each group of trainees must consist of two from the singing track and two from the songwriting track."

Finally, the four trainees in the same group must come from at least three different dormitories.

"These are the requirements for forming a team. You now have three minutes to form a team."

A countdown appeared on the timer next to Lin Ting.

The moment the countdown began to flash, the previously hushed conversations suddenly amplified. In a closed space, the normal volume of more than thirty people talking was enough to create a noisy effect.

Those who had already started preparing to form teams quickly realized that their teams might not meet the requirements, and after inquiring again, they began to split and reorganize.

Those who were initially lost and unable to find their way around began to frequently communicate with those around them.

Lin Ting quietly observed everyone's team formation.

Which track are you on again?

"My God, you three are in the same dorm! You can't be assigned to the same room!"

"Take it apart! It has to be taken apart!"

"I remember you're a great composer, why don't you join us?"

"We're one short for the three-person team! Not 4001 or 4002! We need someone for the singing track!"

As time went by, the conversation became increasingly tense. Although some people who had already formed teams had quieted down, those who hadn't yet formed teams could shout at the volume of three or four people, and the scene remained chaotic.

The countdown reached zero, and a melodious notification sound rang out. Lin Ting saw that everyone had already formed teams of four, so he called them to line up and register their team composition.

During the registration process, three more groups that did not meet the requirements emerged. Lin Ting ruthlessly broke up these three groups and rearranged them into three new groups that met the requirements.

The three new team members looked at each other, all with a hint of helplessness in their eyes.

"Okay, let's move on to the first stage of the assessment."

“The students in the singing track in each group need to learn the piece they used for their performance yesterday from the students in the songwriting track, and then sing it for the staff.”

"Pen and paper are provided here, and electronic devices can be used as an aid."

"Note that each student in the singing track only needs to study the work of one student in the songwriting track in the same group."

Lin Ting and several staff members waited for them to begin their training.

Most of the contestants in the singing track had previously focused on the songs they were going to sing and hadn't anticipated this juncture, so they hadn't paid much attention to the works of the contestants in the songwriting track. At this point, they were almost all learning from scratch.

The contestants in the songwriting track didn't expect that they would have to teach others to sing the songs they wrote, and they were a bit flustered for a while. Some people had song demos or recordings saved on their phones, but others didn't.

Not to mention that hastily forming teams puts together students who are not familiar with each other, making communication even more difficult.

Even with such difficulties, some people were still able to finish quickly. Lin Ting listened to the first student finish singing, and found that the pitch and rhythm were correct. He couldn't help but sigh in his heart.

Fifteen minutes later, one group finished first.

Twenty minutes later, three groups had finished.

Half an hour later, only one group remained on site.

Lin Ting greeted the other staff members responsible for judging the performance and then went over to check on the situation.

Two people in this group have already finished their performance and are now standing next to the other two, anxiously waiting.

The person teaching the song is Chen Taining. His songs are indeed quite complex, and the lyrics are a bit difficult to pronounce. The students learning to sing are finding it very challenging.

Lin Ting said, "It's okay, I'll learn eventually, take it slow."

The students blushed as they studied, but they kept talking and trying to learn.

Time slowly ticked by, and forty minutes passed. Lin Ting listened as the student sang, stumbling and faltering. Although there were many problems with the details, they managed to get through it smoothly nonetheless.

Lin Ting noticed that the student in charge of singing was so red that his face was showing through his foundation, and he was trembling involuntarily, clearly overly nervous.

"Do you like this song?" Lin Ting asked as gently as possible.

"I...I like it!" He couldn't stop himself and said quite loudly, which startled Chen Taining, who turned around and stared at him blankly.

"If you like it, then go ahead and move on to the next level." Lin Ting smiled and saw the four of them out of the room.

Then he went to another room, briefly greeted the staff there, and found an empty seat to sit down.

In front of me is a recording screen with multiple cameras, showing the situation in the second level.

The mentors in charge of the second round were the singing track mentors, and Zhao Qinfeng was among them, watching the students' progress.

No team has yet passed the second stage.

He didn't understand what the second challenge was beforehand, and first looked at Zhao Qinfeng under the camera.

This was a very new perspective for him. Before, he had only seen Zhao Qinfeng during filming or on screen. Now, he had multiple perspectives, so he could see Zhao Qinfeng's front, left, right, and back...

Of course, more than a dozen images were displayed on the screen at the same time, but Zhao Qinfeng was not in every image. Lin Ting just looked at the images that included Zhao Qinfeng.

Lin Ting observed everyone's behavior and figured out the general content of the second challenge.

This challenge involves passing a song. Each group of four people lines up, and the three people behind them, except for the first person, wear earmuffs.

The first person listens to the audio played by the program team, and then can convey information to the second person by lip-syncing, gesturing, etc., and so on, until the last person.

The last person needs to sing the initial audio content; only if the similarity is high enough can they pass the level.

If you fail to pass the test, you will need to change the audio content and try again. During this time, you can change the order of the students in the group.

Lin Ting thought about it and realized that this challenge was quite difficult.

First, it's impossible to guarantee that all four people have heard the song. Actually, the most important thing is the song library of the first and last people, because during the gesturing process, the lyrics and song title can be guessed through actions and lip movements, but the melody is difficult to convey—no, it can actually be conveyed, for example, by gesturing with hands to indicate the sheet music... but spending time gesturing like that might be less efficient than starting over.

Secondly, trainees need to clearly convey the start and end points of the audio content; otherwise, if there are too many or too few points, or if the singing segments are out of order, it will lead to failure.

Furthermore, based on Lin Ting's experience, in order to ensure that trainees cannot hear outside sounds, the soundproof earmuffs are likely also playing audio for interference.

Zhao Qinfeng was listening to a student sing when his face went blank for a moment. He probably heard some kind of mishmash that he couldn't quite put together.

Lin Ting noticed that Chen Taining's group had arrived in the room and immediately gathered together to discuss the rules after hearing them.

Chen Taining quickly judged: "Whose music library is more extensive?"

One member raised his hand, "I listen to a little bit of everything, so I should be considered quite knowledgeable."

Chen Taining nodded, and seeing that no one else raised their hand, he said, "My song library is pretty good too. We'll take turns, one after the other, so if either of you realizes you haven't heard this song before, you can just lip-sync it to the song and pass it on."

"Oh, if you can identify which song it is, please say the name first. Note that many song titles appear in the lyrics, so you must distinguish between saying the song title and saying the lyrics here."

Chen Taining was in first place. He turned around and saw that all three of his teammates were wearing headphones.

The surroundings were chaotic. Many teams had tried three or four times but still failed. After taking off their headphones and finding out what music had been playing, they wailed in regret.

He put on the headphones provided by the production team to listen to the audio and pressed the play button.

After taking off his headphones, he turned around and began to pass information to his companions.

Lin Ting sat there, unable to hear anything, looking back and forth, trying to discern the emotions on the students' faces on the screen.

Anxious, indifferent, flustered, calm.

Suddenly, all the trainees on the screen who weren't wearing earmuffs turned their heads.

Lin Ting didn't need to turn his head; he scanned the screen and saw the members of Chen Taining's group hugging and cheering.

They passed on their first try, turning the tide and becoming the first group to advance to the next round.

Lin Ting rested her chin on her hand, looking at the screen with boredom, until the last group passed, then she quietly left and met up with the mentors of the singing group who had finished recording this part of the show.

The staff arrived and led them to the next recording room to prepare.

Lin Ting and Zhao Qinfeng's eyes met briefly before they looked away. The two walked side by side, chatting with everyone about the two challenges they had just faced.

Actually, the purpose of this challenge was twofold: to provide material for the program and to continue yesterday's icebreaking activities, allowing everyone to get to know each other better during the challenge process.

The third round was overseen by the mentors of the creative track, but everyone didn't have time to observe and went straight to the final recording venue.

The final recording venue is the large stage that is usually used for performances. Today, the mentors are in charge of performing on stage.

"Did you rehearse beforehand?" Lin Ting asked Zhao Qinfeng softly.

"We had a rehearsal a couple of days ago, so time was a bit tight," Zhao Qinfeng replied.

The top three in the group were finally decided, but in the end, they all came to the recording venue together.

"Okay, now let's announce the top three groups."
