Hesitation
Zhao Qinfeng exchanged pleasantries with Hu Ming familiarly: "Yeah, I just happened to be here to record a song today. The producer said this restaurant is delicious, so he brought me here to try it."
Lin Ting's heart skipped a beat. Looking at the distance between herself and Zhao Qinfeng, she wondered: Could they have overheard her conversation with Chang Zhiyuan?
Standing next to Zhao Qinfeng was the producer who had brought him to dinner. The producer and Hu Ming seemed to know each other quite well, and they quickly started chatting.
"Oh, if only we had come here from both sides and eaten together, we could have gotten to know each other!" the producer said enthusiastically.
Hu Ming: "Although we didn't arrange to meet, we still happened to run into each other. What a coincidence!"
Lin Ting looked at Zhao Qinfeng, and Zhao Qinfeng also looked at him and smiled.
Chang Zhiyuan glanced at Zhao Qinfeng, then at Lin Ting, knowing that Lin Ting was unwilling to reveal his identity as a lyricist, but his loud voice just now might have been heard by the other party...
He feigned composure and asked Lin Ting, "Haha, Teacher Lin, are you quite familiar with Teacher Zhao...?"
Lin Ting hummed in response, but before he could say anything, Zhao Qinfeng walked over and stood next to him.
"How's work going?" Zhao Qinfeng asked.
Lin Ting said, "It's all going smoothly. We've finished our work smoothly, so we can finally have a happy meal here."
Zhao Qinfeng said, "That's good. And who is this?"
Zhao Qinfeng looked at Chang Zhiyuan, who was inexplicably nervous. He knew Zhao Qinfeng, but he didn't expect that his first conversation with him would be under such circumstances, not to mention that his favorite teacher, Jinghu, was between them.
Chang Zhiyuan smiled and reached out to shake hands with Zhao Qinfeng, his hand trembling slightly as he barely dared to use his strength. He said as calmly as possible, "Hello, Mr. Zhao, I've heard so much about you. I'm a planner under Professor Hu Ming."
Zhao Qinfeng thought for a moment, then named a project and asked, "This should be the one you planned, right?"
Chang Zhiyuan was stunned for a moment, then suddenly his arm stopped trembling and he stopped being nervous. He stood up straight and said excitedly, "It was me! That was the first project I did as the main planner after graduation, it was the project two years ago!"
Zhao Qinfeng said, "My colleagues and I in the studio all think this project is very innovative. I didn't expect to meet the planner in person today. It's a pleasure to meet you."
Lin Ting watched as Chang Zhiyuan and Zhao Qinfeng hit it off within five minutes and naturally exchanged contact information.
However, it wasn't far from the private room to the outside of the restaurant. After exchanging a few pleasantries, the group parted ways.
When it was time to go back, Hu Ming and Chang Zhiyuan drove everyone back. People who came on business trips all went to the same hotel, and these people got into Chang Zhiyuan's car together.
Lin Ting was also in this car, listening to everyone's casual conversation, but she didn't really join in, and seemed somewhat absent-minded.
He found Zhao Qinfeng's behavior to be completely normal. Moreover, the environment there was quite noisy at the time, and the door to the private room next door was not closed. Loud laughter and conversation could be heard from inside from time to time, so Zhao Qinfeng might not have been able to hear him talking to Chang Zhiyuan.
"We've arrived. Please take care." Chang Zhiyuan brought the car to a stop at the intersection.
Lin Ting got out of the car and slowly returned to her hotel room.
It wasn't bedtime yet, and Lin Ting had nothing to do for the time being. He slumped onto the bed, listlessly staring at his phone.
A few minutes later, Zhao Qinfeng sent a message.
[Zhao Qinfeng: I've arrived at the hotel, have you arrived yet?]
Lin Ting: I've arrived too.
[Zhao Qinfeng: What day did you return to the recording base?]
Lin Ting glanced at the flight ticket date. Although he had finished his work, the flight was for tomorrow evening, which meant he could travel around on his own tomorrow.
[Lin Ting: My flight is tomorrow night at 6 PM]
[Zhao Qinfeng: My flight is at 7 PM tomorrow. Want to go out together during the day?]
Lin Ting: Okay
The two agreed on a time to meet in the morning and said goodnight to each other.
When they met the next morning, Lin Ting had quite dark circles under her eyes.
Zhao Qinfeng leaned closer for another look, almost touching it with his hand. He asked, "Didn't you sleep well last night?"
Lin Ting said, "Maybe so. I went to bed quite early, but I just couldn't fall asleep no matter how much I tossed and turned."
Zhao Qinfeng said, "Why don't you go back and sleep a little longer? Anyway, you can check out before noon."
Lin Ting shook her head. "It's nothing. I'm prone to dark circles under my eyes, but my mental state is actually fine."
Zhao Qinfeng still looked at him with some unease.
Lin Ting said, "It's really nothing, let's go."
The two checked out one after the other.
Since they were leaving that evening, Lin Ting and Zhao Qinfeng didn't have much time to actually stay in the city, so they didn't plan to travel around and just chose one scenic spot that interested them to explore.
Lin Ting was constantly on edge, unsure whether Zhao Qinfeng hadn't heard or was simply being considerate and pretending not to.
The reasons for choosing this scenic area were twofold: firstly, it needed to be large enough to allow for a long visit, and secondly, it needed to have places to eat. It's not close to the city center, but it's quite close to the airport.
It was the off-season for tourism, and it was also a weekday, so there weren't many people in the scenic area.
The two strolled along a covered walkway over a lake, watching the ducks floating on the water as they walked.
Lin Ting asked, "Do you know Hu Ming too?"
Zhao Qinfeng said, "Yes, I know him. We've worked together before, but it's been quite a few years. If there's an opportunity in the future, I'd be happy to work with him again."
Lin Ting chuckled, "It seems Hu Ming's professional skills are quite well-regarded."
Zhao Qinfeng said, "I remember when he was a producer, he was very strict about all the details. I spent an afternoon recording songs with him and got scolded several times. Fortunately, the final product was really good."
Lin Ting said, "Yes, although he looks a bit unkempt, he is actually a musical perfectionist."
Zhao Qinfeng asked, "Do you know Hu Ming too?"
Lin Ting looked at Zhao Qinfeng, who was also looking at him. Lin Ting tried to glean some information from the other man's eyes to help him determine the connection between this issue and their meeting yesterday.
However, Zhao Qinfeng seemed extremely open and honest, even tilting his head slightly towards Lin Ting.
Lin Ting said, "I know him; we've worked together before."
He didn't specify the form of the collaboration, but collaboration on lyrics and music is one thing, and collaboration on promotion is another.
Zhao Qinfeng nodded and didn't ask any further questions.
The two of them strolled around, rode a hand-rowed boat, visited the small exhibition halls in the scenic area, ate the overpriced local snacks, and took a very clichéd photo in a popular spot for taking pictures.
Lin Ting and Zhao Qinfeng walked aimlessly. He seemed to have successfully hypnotized himself, putting aside the things that were keeping him awake at night, and happily walked with Zhao Qinfeng.
We had lunch at a specialty restaurant within the scenic area. It was indeed expensive, but the ingredients were fresh and the scenery was superb. Lin Ting felt that the price was more reasonable than the local snacks they had bought earlier.
"I wonder how their second performance is going," Lin Ting said.
"I'll know when I get back. I'm going back tonight, and maybe I'll run into them practicing in the practice room," Zhao Qinfeng said.
The afternoon sun was even stronger, so the two of them would find a shady spot to sit down every few steps. They didn't visit many places that afternoon, and when it was time to leave the scenic area, they headed to the airport.
Due to the inherent uncertainty of flights, although Lin Ting's ticket showed a departure time an hour earlier than Zhao Qinfeng's, their planes arrived almost one after the other, so they took a car back to the recording base together.
After putting their luggage away, the two of them actually went to the rehearsal room to take a look.
The rehearsal rooms were arranged in the same area. Lin Ting looked around and saw that three of them had their lights on.
"Shall we bother just one person? Otherwise, it feels really strange to keep knocking on one door after another..." Lin Ting asked in a breathy voice.
Zhao Qinfeng actually wanted to say that the soundproofing here was excellent, and that if they spoke at a normal volume outside the door, no one inside should be able to hear them. However, he still followed Lin Ting's tone and replied in a breathy voice, "Okay, just knock on the door."
Lin Ting walked to a door, put some force into it, and knocked three times firmly and at a steady pace, producing a dull "thump thump thump" sound.
The door opened quickly, and it was Chen Taining who opened it.
He was somewhat surprised to see Lin Ting, and when he glanced outside, he met Zhao Qinfeng's gaze and was even more surprised.
"Good evening, Teacher Lin and Teacher Zhao." Chen Taining opened the door and let the two in.
Zhao Qinfeng gently closed the door behind him.
Besides Chen Taining, there is another contestant from the singing competition.
Chen Taining and the other student both became somewhat nervous upon seeing the two of them.
"It's alright, we just came to see if there's anything we can do to help. If not, we'll listen for a little while and then leave without disturbing your practice."
Chen Taining quickly waved her hand, "No, it won't bother you at all. I do have some problems with my singing, and I'm currently seeking advice from him!"
The contestants in the singing competition were more familiar with Zhao Qinfeng and were more nervous than Chen Taining. "Taining... he... he... he said there were a few parts he couldn't sing well, so he asked me to come..."
Lin Ting looked at Zhao Qinfeng with a mocking expression, never expecting Zhao Qinfeng to have such a frightening image among the trainees on their track...
Zhao Qinfeng, both amused and exasperated, advised, "Hey... don't be so nervous. You guys keep going, we'll just listen from the side. If you have any additional advice, we'll talk to you then."
Chen Taining and the student exchanged a glance, and Chen Taining calmed down a bit.
Chen Taining gently tapped out the rhythm and began to sing.
The student listened attentively, having already written some notes on the sheet music in his hand. When Chen Taining made his first obvious mistake in singing, he shouted "Stop!"
Chen Taining immediately stopped and listened to the other person's explanation.
Such a small flaw is gradually broken down into a series of basic skills, and then combined with simple and clear examples and demonstrations, making it vivid and easy to understand.
The student's explanation was tailored to Chen Taining's vocal level, and was also very professional and to the point. As Lin Ting listened, she felt like she could learn it too.
Although neither Zhao Qinfeng nor Lin Ting spoke, Chen Taining and the other student looked at Zhao Qinfeng in unison after they finished correcting and learning the first flaw.
