037: The Unpredictable Old Man (2/2)

Shen Jichuan said coldly, "She is now my wife, Shen Jichuan's wife. What right do you have to dislike her?"

"Since you've said you'd change, I'll give you one last chance. Remember Wen Qiao's identity: my wife, Shen Jichuan's wife."

Li Ling was unwilling, but she still said it out loud.

"Yes, I've got it."

That damned Wen Qiao, what did she do to the master to make him trust her so much?

The husband who used to despise Wen Qiao is now saying this all the time.

Wen Qiao is his wife, and she is Shen Jichuan's wife.

The gentleman must have been bewitched by Wen Qiao.

She had to find an opportunity to let her husband see Wen Qiao's shameful side with his own eyes.

This is the only way to make the gentleman utterly disgusted with Wen Qiao.

Only then can one know who truly cares for him.

Li Ling knelt humbly on the ground, finally begging the master to allow her to stay.

She blamed all the humiliation she was experiencing on Wen Qiao.

Wen Qiao upstairs suddenly sneezed twice.

He wondered to himself, "Who's cursing me? Could it be Shen Jichuan?"

Shen Jichuan's personality is too unpredictable.

Wen Qiao felt that even if she had a fake marriage with him, she should still try to avoid being alone with him in the future.

I said I wasn't hungry, but my stomach was really rumbling and couldn't take it anymore.

Wen Qiao gulped down a large glass of water and went to the kitchen on the first floor to cook some simple noodles.

After finishing her meal, she went back to her room, read for half an hour, brushed her teeth, washed her face, and went back to bed.

She's packed everything and plans to move out in the next couple of days.

But today he agreed to Shen Jichuan's request.

Then I'll just have to wait until after get off work tomorrow to tell the classmate who helped her that she won't be renting a place for the time being.

I was asleep in the middle of the night when I suddenly heard a knock on the door.

Wen Qiao got up sleepily, grabbed her coat and draped it over her shoulders, then slightly opened the door.

He asked, "Who is it? What's the matter?"

"for you."

Before Wen Qiao could see clearly, something was shoved into her hand.

The next morning, after Wen Qiao got up...

Looking at the roast chicken wrapped in oil paper on my table.

She recalled that in the middle of the night yesterday, Shen Jichuan returned from outside, reeking of alcohol, knocked on her door, and handed her a roast chicken.

When Wen Qiao went out, she glanced at the room across the street. The door was tightly closed, and she wondered if Shen Jichuan was still in the room.

Wen Qiao went down to the first floor but didn't see Shen Jichuan.

I did see two dishes and a porridge on the table, as well as a plate of pickled vegetables.

Li Ling looked at Wen Qiao.

Her tone was indifferent. "The master said to have me prepare breakfast for you."

"I really underestimated you. You're so young but have such a deep mind. I wonder what method you used to make Mr. treat you so well."

Wen Qiao understood what was being said.

So Li Ling's outward agreement to treat her well with her husband was merely a way to appease Shen Jichuan.

She has two faces, one for her and one for Shen Jichuan.

"Want to know? It's because I'm young and beautiful. Why don't you try seducing him and see if you can seduce him?"

Even without tasting the food, one can tell that the shoddy food Li Ling has prepared must taste terrible.

But she still ate some, so that Li Ling wouldn't complain to Shen Jichuan that she wasn't eating.

The rice and dishes were sweet, the porridge was salty, and the pickled vegetables were so cloyingly salty they tasted like the salt seller had been beaten to death.

Wen Qiao took two bites, looked at Li Ling, and said in a low voice:

"If the gentleman tastes this food, what do you think he will think? Even if you're just pretending to be nice to me, you should at least be genuine."

"Don't complain to the master. The master kept me here because he trusts me. I've been with the master for almost twenty years. When we met, you weren't even born yet."

Wen Qiao retorted calmly, "Yes, that's why I'm younger than you, while you're old and faded. Your husband may be cold and indifferent, but he's still a man. And men, in the end, prefer the young."

"Sister Ling, do you think what I said is right?"
