Lu Chengyuan looked around and saw a woman with delicate features and a graceful figure standing not far away. However, the woman's eyes were full of hostility, and her gaze towards him was full of mockery.
He immediately frowned and shouted, "Who are you to dare lay a hand on me? Do you have a death wish?"
Having lived in the capital for so long, this is the first person who has dared to lay a hand on him.
Jiang Yimian stopped beside Lu Cijian, glanced at the person in front of her indifferently, and said sarcastically, "You're not a very good father, Marquis. If that's the case, why bother coming here to be scolded?"
She didn't want to appear at this time, but this person was just too infuriating. She was afraid that Lu Cijian, because of the little desire in his heart, would not be willing to make a move against the person in front of him.
If that's the case, then let her do it. We can't let Lu Cijian really get hurt because of this scumbag father.
Lu Chengyuan was clearly hit where it hurt, and his eyes turned red with anger. His majestic face was now full of rage. "Guards, send this lowly commoner to the Ministry of Justice prison. How dare she lay a hand on me? I think she has a death wish."
Does it matter whether he is a good father or not, or what these lowly people say?
As soon as she finished speaking, a guard dressed in a tight-fitting outfit appeared in front of Jiang Yimian and reached out to grab her.
However, he grabbed at empty air. Lu Cijian's hand gripped the other's wrist tightly, the knuckles cracking. The guard felt as if his wrist was about to break, and his face changed drastically.
Lu Cijian glanced coldly at Lu Chengyuan, her voice icy colder than ever before, "My lord, there's no need for you to bother. I will not be going back."
The Marquis of Anding's residence is likely under the watchful eyes of many people now; Your Excellency would be wise to proceed with caution.
After saying that, he shoved aside the guards blocking his way, grabbed Jiang Yimian, and left.
Lu Chengyuan was so angry he was jumping up and down, but Lu Cijian's last words made him stand still, and he was not quite sure what he meant.
Given Lu Cijian's personality, these words definitely weren't meant to express concern for him. So what did they mean?
The guard in tight-fitting clothes beside him lowered his head and said, "My lord, should I continue to follow the young master?"
Lu Chengyuan simply waved his hand, his eyes sharply fixed on the street corner not far away, and said coldly, "No need. Since he doesn't want to go back, we don't need to worry about him for now. I don't believe he can stay away from me forever and not acknowledge me as his father."
He has a million ways to force him to go back. Since he is his son, he must follow the path he has laid out.
Lu Cijian pulled Jiang Yimian along for a while before stopping, but he didn't let go of her hand, remaining unusually silent the whole way.
Jiang Yimian wanted to comfort him, but didn't know how to start. She simply opened her fingers and inserted them between his fingers, pressing them tightly together, hoping to give him some strength.
Lu Cijian was stunned for a moment. Instead of letting go of the small hand, he gripped the soft hand even tighter.
When the two arrived at a dilapidated house, Jiang Yimian could instantly feel the tense body of the person next to her relax a lot.
The wooden door was covered with the marks of time, dilapidated and broken, yet a rusty brass lock still hung on the door that could be pushed down with a single push.
There were many cobwebs under the eaves, indicating that no one had lived there for a long time.
Jiang Yimian stared blankly at the dilapidated courtyard in front of her, not quite understanding why Lu Cijian had brought her here, but before she could ask, she was still stunned.
Lu Cijian opened the courtyard gate first; it wasn't locked and opened with a push.
The old wooden door creaked softly, but quickly closed behind the two of them.
I thought the interior would be just as dilapidated as the exterior, but to my surprise, the courtyard was very clean.
Especially the pots of thriving orchids under the eaves added a lot of color to this barren little courtyard.
Jiang Yimian was looking around at the furnishings in the courtyard when a frail, somewhat puzzled voice came from inside the house, "Who is it?"
Lu Cijian simply said, "It's me."
As soon as he finished speaking, an elderly woman with white hair came out of the house. When she saw the people in the yard, she immediately smiled and said, "Little Lu, it's been so long since you've come. You finally have time to come and see this old woman today."
After saying that, his gaze fell on Jiang Yimian, who was standing to the side.
Her eyes lit up immediately, and she smiled and said, "Whose daughter is this? She's so beautiful. When did you find such a lovely girl by your side? Please have a seat."
After saying that, she suddenly remembered something and continued with a smile, "You haven't eaten, have you? I'll make you some noodles with minced meat sauce, it smells delicious."
With that, he turned and went into the kitchen.
Jiang Yimian looked at Lu Cijian and asked curiously, "Who is this?"
Lu Cijian pulled her to sit down at the stone table in the courtyard before smiling and saying, "The wife of an old friend."
Jiang Yimian's eyes flickered as she looked at the person in front of her, signaling them to continue.
Lu Cijian was momentarily lost in thought, as if recalling something from a very distant past.
The village was extremely cold in winter, covered in snow everywhere, a beautiful sight from afar.
But the child inside had no interest in appreciating the beautiful scenery; he simply curled up in a corner, trying to bring some warmth to his cold body.
Unfortunately, the drafty windows and dilapidated roof were filled with howling cold winds, and the biting chill constantly washed over every inch of the child's skin.
Although it was inside, it was no different from being outside.
He hugged his knees tightly, but his teeth still chattered from the cold.
From the next room, the loud laughter of several old women could be heard from time to time, making one's scalp tingle.
The child, huddled in the corner, was pale with cold. Hearing the lively sounds, he slowly moved closer to the opposite wall.
There was a heater in the next room, which was very warm, and the entire wall was warm from the heat.
