Li Yuheng rolled her eyes: "If it didn't have my name on it, did it have yours? Did you pay for it?"
Shu Bai glanced at him and said sarcastically, "Mind your own business. You haven't even fully healed the injury on your ear."
Li Yuheng immediately retorted, "I'm still better than you, trying to climb high with a limp."
"I'd rather. At least I won't get beaten up like some stupid dogs."
"Who got beaten up? Last time, I don't know who it was, but I chased them for three blocks."
"Can you catch me, you short-legged dog?"
"It's still better than that cat, what can it do besides run fast?"
"Scratching you is enough."
"Give it a try?"
Come on!
Both of them arched their bodies at the same time, and it looked like they were about to fight again.
A passing teddy bear couldn't stand it any longer: "Can't you two just shut up? Aren't you tired of arguing all the time?"
Li Yuheng and Shu Bai turned their heads at the same time:
"none of your business!"
"roll!"
Teddy shrank back when he was yelled at, tucked his tail between his legs, and ran away.
Shu Bai looked at Li Yuheng again: "Did you hear that? Even the dogs passing by think you're too noisy."
“He dislikes both of us,” Li Yuheng corrected. “If anyone should leave, it should be you.”
"Why should I leave?"
"Because you are more annoying."
"You're the annoying one."
"Your whole family is annoying."
"Your entire clan is detestable."
"You—" Li Yuheng was about to continue, but suddenly stopped.
The air fell into an eerie silence for a second.
Both realized it at the same time.
They were actually playing this childish word chain game.
Li Yuheng couldn't hold back any longer; the corners of his mouth involuntarily turned upwards, and a suppressed snicker came from his throat.
Seeing his silly expression of wanting to laugh but trying to hold it in, Shu Bai found it inexplicably funny herself. She turned her head away, but her shoulders shrugged slightly.
As the internet celebrity below the wall packed up his live-streaming equipment and was about to leave, his gaze suddenly fell on a trembling tabby cat in the corner.
The kitten looked only two or three months old, pitifully thin, and was timidly staring at the remaining food scraps in its bowl.
"Oh dear, this poor little thing." The internet celebrity showed a pitying expression, squatted down and reached out his hand to the little tabby cat. "Come on, come home with me, okay? I promise you'll have canned food every day."
The little tabby cat took two steps back warily, but was pulled into the arms of the internet celebrity.
"Meow!" The little tabby cat struggled in alarm.
On the wall, Li Yuheng and Shu Bai stood up at the same time.
"Tsk." Li Yuheng narrowed his eyes. "What's this guy up to?"
Shu Bai flicked its tail impatiently: "Pretending."
Only a few young, stubborn, and greedy cats would like this man.
Li Yuheng stared at the internet celebrity man who was carrying the tabby cat and preparing to leave, his dog-like face revealing undisguised contempt.
"He's always waving around that crappy phone, even posing for the camera while feeding his cat. Who's he trying to impress?"
Shu Bai said sarcastically, "But it's still better than some people who can't even be bothered to put on a show."
"What, are you envious?" Li Yuheng turned to look at him. "Why don't you go and mooch a couple of meals next time? Maybe you can even get some screen time."
"Stop trying to disgust me," Shu Bai said coldly. "I'll find food myself."
Li Yuheng stared at the man's receding figure and suddenly asked, "Did you eat what he gave you?"
"No," Shu Bai answered crisply, "It looks disgusting."
"At least you have some brains. Who knows what's mixed in that cat food? Maybe they're just pretending to be kind for the sake of the live stream."
It's rare that Shu Bai didn't refute it.
He looked in that direction: "They pretend to be kind, but who knows what they're up to behind the scenes."
"What else could he be up to?" Li Yuheng grinned. "He just wants to make money by grabbing attention. If he really likes cats that much, why doesn't he adopt the old, weak, sick, or disabled? He only targets the cute little kittens."
"hypocritical."
The two rarely reached a consensus; neither of them had a good impression of the internet celebrity man.
But Li Yuheng stared in the direction the man had disappeared, his dog ears twitching irritably: "Hey, you stinky cat, are you just going to stare like that?"
Shu Bai flicked its tail, its tone indifferent: "Otherwise what? I'm not in charge of this. There are so many things happening on the street every day, how could I possibly manage them all?"
"Tsk, you talk like you're so busy. All you do is sleep and fight all day. What are you pretending to be?"
"It's still better than some stupid dogs," Shu Bai retorted. "You've fallen so low yourself, and you still have the leisure to worry about other cats?"
“Who cares?” Li Yuheng retorted immediately. “I just can’t stand that guy’s hypocritical face.”
"If you don't like it, go stop them. What's the point of just yelling here?"
"Why aren't you going? Are you scared?"
"A provocation?" Shu Bai stood up, looking down at him. "Naive. Why should I risk my life for some unrelated cat?"
Li Yuheng stared at him for a few seconds, then suddenly smirked: "Fine, you're ruthless. It seems some cats are all talk and no action."
“It’s still better than some dogs.” Shu Bai didn’t back down. “All they can do is bark.”
The two started staring at each other again.
Finally, Li Yuheng looked away first: "Forget it, there's no point in talking to a cold-blooded cat."
“Likewise.” Shu Bai lay down again. “There’s nothing to talk about with a sanctimonious dog like you.”
"Who's being a saint?"
"Who's cold-blooded?"
Just as they were about to start arguing again, Li Yuheng suddenly stood up: "I'm too lazy to waste my breath on you."
He jumped off the wall and left without looking back.
Shu Bai watched his retreating figure and sneered, "What are you pretending to be, you good dog?"
But her gaze still involuntarily drifted in the direction the man had left.
…
Li Yuheng finally couldn't hold back.
Late that night, following the scent he had noted down during the day, he found the residence of the internet celebrity.
An ordinary-looking residential building.
He was about to find a corner to climb over when he caught a glimpse of a familiar black and white figure nimbly climbing up the security window on the first floor.
"Tsk." Li Yuheng clicked his tongue in dissatisfaction. "Didn't you say you wouldn't come? You two-faced stinky cat."
Shu Bai clearly noticed him too. She paused, then coldly retorted, "I've changed my mind, is that not allowed? As for you, don't hold me back when you're having your 'saintly' moment."
"Don't worry, I'm quick and efficient, unlike some cats that dawdle."
The two exchanged a sarcastic remark, yet acted in perfect unison.
Using the beagle's sense of smell, Li Yuheng quickly located the room where Xiaolihua was being held.
With the cat's agility, Shu Bai easily opened the window that wasn't fully locked.
The sight inside the room froze both of them.
This is definitely not the home of an ordinary cat lover.
There were no comfortable cat beds or toys, only cold iron cages. Some tools with dark red stains were scattered in the corner, and the air was filled with disinfectant and a faint smell of blood.
The little tabby cat was shivering in a small cage, and when it saw them, it let out a weak whimper.
Li Yuheng cursed under his breath, his eyes instantly turning cold.
Shu Bai didn't speak, but his aura suddenly dropped to freezing point. He quickly used his claws to pry open the cage latch.
"Let's go." Shu Bai picked up the weak little tabby cat in his mouth, speaking succinctly.
Li Yuheng looked around, his gaze landing on the computer in the corner and several cameras that had been set up.
He stepped forward and, without hesitation, kicked over the main unit. He then used his claws to pull several lights that looked like they were for live streaming to the ground, making a piercing cracking sound.
What are you doing?
"Keep this as a souvenir. So that these bastards don't think there's no cost to doing this."
The loud noise startled the people in the next room.
"What's that sound?!" The internet celebrity's voice came from next door, accompanied by hurried footsteps.
"Hurry up, hurry up!" Li Yuheng growled.
Shu Bai, carrying a small tabby cat in its mouth, leaped out of the window first, followed closely by Li Yuheng.
The moment they jumped, the door was flung open, and the internet celebrity's face, filled with shock and anger, appeared in the doorway.
