Chapter 4 Top Actor (Gong) x Washed-Up Movie Emperor (Shou)

Shu Bai took a deep breath, picked up the wok, and slammed it heavily on the stove: "Get out of the way."

Li Yuheng immediately stepped aside obediently, not forgetting to add insult to injury: "Go, Teacher Shubai! I believe in you!"

Shu Bai ignored him, skillfully turned on the stove and poured oil, his movements fluid and effortless.

Once the oil was hot, he grabbed a handful of minced garlic and threw it into the pan, instantly filling the air with a fragrant aroma.

Li Yuheng leaned closer and sniffed: "Wow, Teacher Shu Bai is quite capable."

"Shut up." Shu Bai didn't even turn his head. "If you say another word, I'll throw you in the pot and stir-fry you with the food."

Li Yuheng was not intimidated at all; instead, he became even more enthusiastic: "What flavor does Teacher Shubai like? Spicy or sweet and sour? I can accommodate you."

"Steamed idiots, freshly killed and cooked."

Li Yuheng tilted his head and gave an innocent smile: "Where is it? There's no such ingredient in the kitchen."

He looked around with feigned confusion, then his gaze finally settled on Shu Bai, and he drawled out his words as if suddenly realizing something: "Oh—so this is where it is."

Shu Bai's hand, gripping the spatula, tightened suddenly, his knuckles turning white.

But this time he suppressed the nameless anger in his heart and focused on stir-frying the shredded potatoes in the pan.

He didn't come here to argue with elementary school students.

The company executives spoke in high-sounding terms, saying things like "I'll give you a chance to clear your name" and "creating a CP with Gong Yu can salvage your image," but in reality, Shu Bai didn't care about any of that.

He just wants to finish this variety show, then completely terminate his contract with his agency and go back to his hometown to farm.

As for Gong Yu?

His acting is exaggerated, and his eyes are shifty; he's clearly no good.

I was going to go along with it, but... I just couldn't stand it.

I feel like this pairing doesn't need to be promoted; whatever.

Shu Bai rolled her eyes and sprinkled more salt into the pot.

Li Yuheng suddenly asked, "Teacher Shubai, are those two moles under your right eye drawn on?"

Shu Bai ignored him, coldly scooped out the stir-fried potato shreds, and casually pushed them aside.

Li Yuheng casually handed over the side dish for the second course.

The carrot and green bell pepper strips were cut into neat, even strips this time; the knife skills were so beautiful that there was nothing to criticize.

Shu Bai looked at the plate of finely and evenly chopped side dishes and raised his eyebrows almost imperceptibly.

Li Yuheng caught the change in his expression in that instant and immediately put on her dramatic act, flicking her non-existent bangs: "How about it? Were you shocked by my talent?"

He exaggeratedly rubbed his forehead with one hand, saying, "Some people are just born geniuses."

Li Yuheng, the male lead, is awesome.

Come on, give me some praise.

[Hilarious, Hengzi's narcissism is acting up again!]

[Help! Where does he get his confidence from?! Hahaha!]

[It's just chopping vegetables, why is it acting out!]

Shu Bai accepted the plate of finely chopped side dishes with a blank expression, then turned around and continued cooking.

The spatula scraped against the iron pot with a harsh sound, as if venting the owner's restless frustration.

Tsk, why isn't this person saying anything?

Feeling inferior?

Li Yuheng frowned slightly and considerately changed the subject.

"Ms. Shubai, are those two moles under your right eye drawn on?"

"Ms. Shubai, are those two moles under your right eye drawn on?"

"Ms. Shubai, are those two moles under your right eye drawn on?"

This is the sixth time.

Why! Why! Not! Talk!

How dare a mere protagonist disrespect the Crown Prince of the Underworld!

ridiculous.

Did you think he would give up?

"Ms. Shubai, are those two moles under your right eye drawn on?"

"Professor Shubai, may I ask about your right eye—"

Shu Bai finally lost her temper and slammed the spatula down: "You're born that way! When will you ever stop?"

Li Yuheng blinked, then suddenly fell silent: "Oh. Thank you."

The kitchen was instantly filled only with the sizzling sound of the oil pan.

Shu Bai glanced at him suspiciously, but to her surprise, this annoying fellow actually shut up.

He picked up the spatula again and continued stir-frying with a lighter touch.

Li Yuheng stood quietly to the side, but his gaze remained fixed on the two small moles under Shu Bai's right eye.

With a slight twitch of his fingertips, a wisp of ghostly energy, invisible to the naked eye, quietly reached out towards Shu Bai.

"Bang!"

The wisp of ghostly energy was bounced back by a familiar force, making Li Yuheng's fingertips go numb.

His eyes lit up.

Isn't this his best buddy?

What are you doing here?

0090: [Your Highness! What are you doing again?! Unauthorized use of ghostly energy is a violation of regulations!]

"Children shouldn't meddle in adults' affairs."

0090: [...] How could a system that has lived for thousands of years suddenly become a child?!

When Li Yuheng was a child, he was bored and secretly ran away to the human world to be a dog for a period of time.

Yes, it's a real dog.

As soon as he entered the stray animal community, he ran into a black and white cat that hadn't yet transformed into human form. The two of them started fighting as soon as they met, battling from the street to the alley, from the trash can to the rooftop, a veritable "cat and dog version of the King of Fighters tournament."

As they fought, a revolutionary friendship unexpectedly blossomed, and Li Yuheng even learned to curse in cat language.

Unfortunately, his good days didn't last long. His father, the King of Hell, used a "parent-child GPS" location to send him straight to the human world, dragging his shameful son back to the underworld by the scruff of his neck.

Before leaving, Li Yuheng was worried that his good brother would get beaten up and die before he even grew up, so he secretly gave his soul an "invincible buff" - he can't be killed, but he will still get beaten up and meow.

I never expected to run into you here...

No wonder he always had a feeling of familiarity…

Li Yuheng narrowed his eyes and mentally commanded 0090: "Little system, check if Shu Bai is also a mission taker."

0090's mechanical voice sounded confused: "[Your Highness, Shu Bai is just a normal protagonist, the bottom. The system data shows there's nothing unusual about him.]"

"Impossible. Investigate more thoroughly."

0090 reluctantly scanned again: [Nothing unusual. Shu Bai, 28 years old, was suspended three years ago for assaulting a director, now a washed-up movie star, with a volatile temper but superb acting skills...]

"Wait a minute, little system," Li Yuheng suddenly changed the subject, his tone slightly teasing, "Does the Quick Transmigration Bureau's system have different levels?"

The Quick Transmigration System is divided into CS level based on function, with S level being the highest-level system, typically assigned to those undertaking high-risk missions.

"Excuse me, what grade are you in?"

0090's voice lowered slightly: "[...Rank B. Soon to be promoted to Rank A.]"

"Tsk, no wonder." Li Yuheng's tone was knowing and slightly sarcastic.

0090 was somewhat on the defensive: [Your Highness, what do you mean by this? What happened to the B-level system? My database integrity is 98.7%, the failure rate is only 0.003%, and I've received the Excellent System rating from the Quick Transmigration Bureau for three consecutive years—]

Before it could finish speaking, Li Yuheng blocked the system's voice from his consciousness.

Li Yuheng picked up a rag and wiped the table while casually asking, "Teacher Shubai, did you have any good friends when you were little? No... good friends?"

Shu Bai plated the stir-fried dishes with swift and clean movements. Hearing Li Yuheng's question, he didn't even look up: "No."

Li Yuheng raised an eyebrow: "Is Teacher Shu Bai so aloof? Doesn't he even have a childhood friend?"

"What's it to you?" Shu Bai pushed the plate in front of him. "Take it away."
