Chapter 12 IF scenario: Young hero, weren't you talking back? Why did you stop eating when it was almost in your mouth?

This entry was collected from the extra chapter collection point in Chapter 178 of the main text, by reader "早早早点睡o".

Shu Bai stared at the empty branches beside the fire, then glanced at the man sitting next to her licking his fingers.

The fish he had carefully grilled for half an hour now only had a lingering, slightly burnt aroma in the air.

Where's my fish?

Li Yuheng blinked, then patted his stomach with a nonchalant expression: "Here."

He was still savoring the taste of the grilled fish he had just eaten—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, cooked to perfection, but unfortunately, the portion was too small.

Shu Bai silently gripped the hilt of his sword.

He appeared calm, but he was actually furious.

Having roamed the world for so many years, he had seen plenty of robbers and provocateurs, but this was the first time he had encountered someone so brazenly stealing his grilled fish and justifying it so confidently.

"Young hero, calm down!" Li Yuheng keenly sensed the danger and shrank back. "I have amnesia, and I might be some important figure. If you accidentally hurt me, you'll regret it later."

Shu Bai observed the other person calmly.

The man was wearing clothes made of good material, and although they were covered in mud, you could tell they were finely made.

She is indeed outstanding in appearance, with an air of nobility in her eyes and brows, but her unserious manner is infuriating.

"Would a big shot steal someone's grilled fish?"

“This isn’t stealing,” Li Yuheng corrected earnestly, “it’s sharing. Besides, I tested the poison for you, and you didn’t die, which means your skills are pretty good.”

Shu Bai was amused by his words: "Thank you?"

"You're welcome." Li Yuheng waved his hand, looking at him expectantly. "By the way, do you have any more food? One fish isn't enough to fill my teeth."

Although this person had a cold expression, the fact that he could grill fish alone in the wild meant he must have some in stock.

However, the other party replied, "That's all."

"Then...why don't you go catch another one?"

Li Yuheng asked tentatively, his eyes shining with anticipation.

Shu Bai stared at him for a long time, then suddenly reached out and grabbed his wrist.

Li Yuheng instinctively tried to break free, but found that the seemingly slender young swordsman had an astonishingly strong grip.

Shu Bai secretly used his internal energy to investigate, his brows furrowing more and more tightly.

This person has no internal energy left and his meridians are severely damaged; it's a miracle he's still alive.

"All internal energy is gone, and your meridians are damaged." Shu Bai released his grip, his tone softening slightly, a hint of pity in his eyes. "You fell off the cliff?"

Was it because he was too arrogant that he was thrown down?

That's a very real life.

Li Yuheng rubbed his wrist: "Maybe. I woke up by the river and followed the scent to this place."

As he spoke, he reached into Shu Bai's bundle again, asking, "You really have no food left?"

Shu Bai slapped his hand away and said coldly, "If you lay a hand on me again, I'll kick you into the river."

Li Yuheng immediately sat up straight, putting on a sincere expression: "Young hero, let's see this through to the end. Look at me, I definitely won't survive more than three days without you."

"What does this have to do with me?" Shu Bai asked indifferently, but then remembered his master's dying words: When you're traveling the world, help others if you can.

But this person in front of me seems like a problem no matter how you look at it.

Tsk.

"Don't you people of the martial arts world value chivalry and righteousness?"

Shu Bai got up and packed his bags. "My chivalrous heart does not include supporting idlers."

If he had to save every passerby, he would have starved to death on the streets long ago.

Li Yuheng followed him closely: "I'm not free! I can... help you with your luggage?"

Shu Bai glanced at him and casually tossed the heavy bundle over.

Li Yuheng stumbled as he was pulled along, grimacing as he followed, wondering: Is this bundle filled with stones?

"Young hero, what is your name?"

“Sparse and white”.

"What a great name! It suits me well too."

Shu Bai stopped and looked at him expressionlessly.

This person has an unusually thick skin.

Li Yuheng smiled and looked back: "My name is Li Yuheng. I don't remember it, but it's a nice name, isn't it?"

How do you remember the name?

"I have a jade pendant in my pocket with these three words engraved on it." Li Yuheng took out the jade pendant and shook it. "It seems I am indeed an important person."

Shu Bai glanced at the jade of excellent quality, his eyes flickered slightly, but he didn't say anything more and turned to continue walking.

The two walked one after the other on the mountain path.

Li Yuheng was incredibly talkative the whole way, with a hint of probing in his eyes:

"Young hero, which sect do you belong to?"

"Without a sect or faction."

"Where are you going?"

"We'll see where we end up."

"Take me with you? I'm really useful." He deliberately softened his tone, secretly observing Shu Bai's reaction.

"for example?"

“For example…” Li Yuheng seemed to be racking his brains, but his mind was actually racing, “I could chat with you to keep you company?”

Shu Bai glanced at him indifferently, her eyes showing a hint of impatience: "You're doing this right now, it's very noisy."

Li Yuheng was speechless for a moment, but he did not lose heart and moved a few points closer.

He deliberately flashed a perfectly timed smile: "I'm not bad looking either, quite pleasing to the eye."

"After a while, it just gets the same."

"I can also..."

Li Yuheng suddenly slipped and fell down the mountain.

Seven parts of that fall were real, and three parts were a test.

He wanted to know how Shu Bai would react.

Shu Bai swiftly grabbed him by the back of his collar and pulled him back with clean, decisive movements.

"Thank you." Li Yuheng patted his chest, still shaken, but secretly amazed that this person was even more agile than he had expected.

"Look, I can also help you improve your reaction time."

Shu Bai released him and continued walking forward: "If you say another word, I'll throw you down the mountain."

Li Yuheng remained quiet for less than fifteen minutes before launching into a new round of probing.

He deliberately used various excuses to observe Shu Bai's bottom line:

"Young hero, I'm hungry."

"Bear with it."

"Young hero, I'm thirsty."

"Let's go drink by the river."

"Young hero, my wound hurts."

"He won't die."

With each response he received, Li Yuheng silently analyzed in his mind: This person appears indifferent on the surface, but has never truly abandoned him.

As evening fell, they found a dilapidated temple to stay in.

Shu Bai lit a fire, went out for a walk, and came back carrying a pheasant.

Li Yuheng's eyes lit up, and he volunteered:

"I'll help!!!"

Perhaps this is an opportunity to showcase my value!

However, things didn't go as planned, and the pheasant was quickly charred on one side.

Shu Bai stared at the piece of charcoal-black flesh, veins throbbing on his forehead: "...Is this all you're good for?"

He really is a pampered young master.

Li Yuheng chuckled awkwardly: "It was an accident, purely an accident. I'll definitely pay more attention to the heat next time."

Shu Bai snatched the roasting fork and began to prepare the pheasant anew.

Li Yuheng squatted beside him, watching him skillfully flip the grill, and suddenly asked:

"Have you always traveled the world alone?"

"Um."

Aren't you lonely?

Shu Bai paused for a moment: "I'm used to it."

No one is truly used to loneliness; they simply have no choice but to get used to it.

“Then I’ll stay with you from now on.” Li Yuheng rested his chin on his hand, his gaze thoughtful. “Once I regain my memories, I’ll buy you a big house and hire ten chefs to cook delicious meals for you every day.”

These words were half a joke and half a test; he wanted to know Shu Bai's attitude towards wealth and power.

"No need."

Shu Bai glanced at Li Yuheng.

This guy is really good at writing bad checks.

It's hilarious; they even promised him a rosy picture.

"Yes, yes," Li Yuheng refused to give up. "You saved me, so I have to repay your kindness. According to the way things develop in the stories, I should repay you with my body at this point."

Shu Bai stuffed the roasted chicken leg into his mouth: "Eat yours."

Li Yuheng gasped for breath from the burn, but still managed to mumble, "Really, the more I look at you, the more pleasing you seem. Maybe we knew each other before I lost my memory?"

"I don't know him."

"What if? Look how well we understand each other. I can tell whether you want water or meat just by looking at you."

"That's because you've been staring at my water pouch and food bag."

Li Yuheng wasn't annoyed at being exposed; he just munched on his chicken leg with a grin, but in his heart, he became more and more interested in this seemingly aloof young hero.

The more a person keeps others at arm's length, the more he wants to peel back that cold exterior to see what's hidden inside.

The firelight flickered in his eyes, concealing a few indescribable thoughts.
