Chapter 6 So, shall we go to the Civil Affairs Bureau first thing tomorrow morning?
In the afternoon, Sang Qian went to the apartment to prepare daily necessities. When she received a call from Aunt Li, she had just come downstairs and was planning to grab a bite at a nearby rice noodle shop.
I never expected that workaholic who leaves early and returns late would come home for dinner today.
After hanging up the phone, she immediately returned to Royal Bay.
When I got home, I immediately saw Jin Changyu sitting at the dining table.
He came home early today, which means he's eager to discuss the divorce with her.
Thinking this, Sang Qian walked over and sat opposite him. Seeing that Aunt Li was about to come over to serve the dishes, she said, "Aunt Li, we have something to talk about, let's not eat first."
Aunt Li stood there holding Sang Qian's favorite stir-fry, looking at Jin Changyu with a somewhat blank expression.
Jin Changyu glanced at Sang Qian, then nodded to Aunt Li, signaling her to go down first.
Once only the two of them were left at the table, Sang Qian got straight to the point, "Shall we go to the Civil Affairs Bureau first thing tomorrow morning?"
A look of surprise crossed Jin Changyu's face as he frowned and said, "I gave the Sang family the project in the southern peninsula, and you're still not satisfied?"
Sang Qian looked at him in confusion, "What did you say?"
She was talking about divorce, and he was bringing up some project.
“I can’t give the new energy projects to the Sang family, but I can guarantee that the Sang family will not make less money in the South Peninsula projects.”
What do you mean by that?
Sang Qian was stunned for a few seconds before she reacted, "So...you thought I was using divorce to blackmail you into giving me the Sang's New Energy project?"
Jin Changyu looked at her in silence.
There was no denial.
Sang Qian was so angry she laughed.
“Jin Changyu, I remember when we got married, I made it clear to you that you didn’t need to give special treatment to the Sang family. You just need to handle business matters officially.”
I don't care whether the Sang family gets the project or not.
Sang Qian took a deep breath and reiterated, "I'm getting a divorce simply because I don't want to waste any more time and emotions on you."
Jin Changyu stared at her face, his dark eyes deep and unfathomable. "Even if the Sang family loses the support of the Jin Group after the divorce, you still insist on getting a divorce?"
"yes."
Sang Qian met his gaze, her tone firm and resolute, "I insist on a divorce."
The development of the Sang family business was not even a consideration for her.
She never married him for the sake of the Sang family.
Ironically, she sought love in her marriage, while he only saw it as an exchange of interests.
When emotion clashes with reason, they are destined to fail and never achieve a happy ending.
Jin Changyu looked at her, his dark eyes seeming to be swirling with some emotions, but his face remained expressionless.
"Since you've made up your mind, then so be it."
After saying that, he got up and left.
As the tall figure passed by, Sang Qian said, "Shall we go to the Civil Affairs Bureau first thing tomorrow morning?"
The man paused beside her for a moment, then said, "Okay."
After saying that, he went upstairs without looking back.
Sang Qian, sitting alone at the dining table, didn't turn to look at him, remaining motionless as she listened to the footsteps fade into the distance.
After a while, Aunt Li slowly walked over and asked cautiously, "Madam, isn't the master going to eat?"
Sang Qian quickly composed herself, turned to her and smiled, "Probably, I'm busy."
He's probably off to his study to work again.
"Shall I serve you your meal first, and prepare it for the gentleman later?"
"I'm not hungry yet." Sang Qian shook her head and said gently, "Don't bother."
After saying that, she got up and went upstairs.
Aunt Li stood there watching her retreating figure, and sighed wistfully.
It's rare for the young couple to get together for dinner, so why did they suddenly start arguing?
After cleaning up the kitchen, Aunt Li came out and saw the gift box that Jin Changyu had left in the living room when he came back.
She quickly grabbed her things and went upstairs to knock on the study door.
"Enter."
Hearing the sound, Aunt Li pushed open the door and went in, and saw Jin Changyu sitting at his desk stubbing out his cigarette in the ashtray.
Aunt Li glanced at the cigarette butt in the ashtray and looked at the gloomy-looking man in surprise.
Because his wife can't stand the smell of smoke, the husband never smokes anywhere else in the house. Only when he works late into the night in his study, perhaps due to excessive stress, does Aunt Li occasionally see one or two cigarette butts in the study.
But now...
How come the gentleman smoked so many cigarettes in such a short time?
What did the wife say to her husband at the dinner table that made him so upset?
"What's wrong, Aunt Li?"
Aunt Li snapped out of her daze and said, "Oh, sir, you left your things in the living room. I'll bring them up to you."
Jin Changyu then noticed the box in her hand, a dark glint flashing in his eyes. He said, "Put it on the table."
"Okay, sure."
Aunt Li put down her things and then secretly glanced at Jin Changyu.
Seeing her hesitate, Jin Changyu asked, "Is there anything else?"
Aunt Li whispered to him, "Sir, Madam has gone back to her bedroom."
Jin Changyu looked at her, puzzled. "So?"
Aunt Li gave him a suggestion, "Isn't this a gift for your wife? It would be perfect if you went to deliver it now."
As the saying goes, couples who quarrel in bed make up before they get out of bed. The husband brings a gift back to the room to coax his wife, and the two will be reconciled tonight.
Jin Changyu's forehead twitched, "..."
Just right?
They're getting a divorce tomorrow, so what's the point of him going to deliver a gift now?
Celebrating a happy divorce?
Seeing that he didn't speak, Aunt Li didn't say anything more and said, "Sir, I'll go out now."
"Go."
After Aunt Li left, Jin Changyu's gaze fell on the gift box again. After a moment, he reached out, took it, and put it into a drawer in his desk.
That night, Jin Changyu did not leave his study.
Sang Qian, who had the room all to herself, also had a sleepless night.
*
The next day, Sang Qian got up early, put on light makeup, chose a dress she liked, and dressed herself up smartly and appropriately to welcome her new life.
When I went downstairs, it was not yet eight o'clock, and someone was already in the restaurant on the first floor.
Hearing the noise, Jin Changyu turned his head and looked over, pausing for a moment when his gaze fell on her.
As Sang Qian walked over, she kept her head down, carefully examining the divorce documents in her hand, completely unaware of his gaze.
After confirming that she had all the necessary documents, she looked up at the man and said, "Let's go."
If we leave now, we should be able to catch the Civil Affairs Bureau when it opens for business.
Jin Changyu looked away from her. "Eat breakfast first."
Just as Sang Qian was about to say something, she saw Aunt Li bring over breakfast.
After thinking about it, she sat down anyway.
Let's just consider it a farewell dinner with him...
It's best to part amicably.
Aunt Li left after serving breakfast.
There were only the two of them at the table. Sang Qian looked up at the man across from her, who was eating breakfast elegantly and quietly.
His features are truly handsome.
He has sharp eyebrows and bright eyes; when he looks down to eat, you can see his high, straight nose.
He is usually quiet and expressionless, but his face is so authoritative, and coupled with his reserved and profound temperament, it is easy for women to fall in love with him.
He was always impeccably dressed during the day, with his shirt buttons always fastened to the top, exuding an air of noble asceticism that was inexplicably tinged with a touch of sexiness.
He always had a calm and indifferent expression.
Even though they were about to get a divorce, he remained calm as if it were just a work trip and nothing important to him.
Sang Qian was very curious about what kind of person Jin Changyu would be in front of the person he liked.
But then she forced herself to pull her thoughts back and stop making pointless guesses.
What does it matter to her what happens between him and the person he likes?
After the divorce, they were no longer related.
In her plan, they would most likely never meet again in this lifetime, let alone have any further interaction.
Their marriage ended with them parting ways amicably and wishing each other well.
