Chapter 4: Kneel down in front of your ancestors!

Chapter 4: Kneel down in front of your ancestors!

Yu Shengsheng paused.

Seeing the emotions in her eyes, which were no longer as calm as before, Su Dingqin's lips curled up slightly.

"Don't you like kneeling? Don't you say you have never seen your ancestors? I'll make you kneel enough!"

Mrs. Su's tears rolled down. Just as she was about to stop them, Su Zhiyi frowned, held her knees with both hands, and looked painful.

Madam Su asked hurriedly, "Yier, is your leg injury acting up again?"

Su Dingqin and Su Yanshu both rushed over.

Yu Shengsheng was also surrounded by the palace soldiers, separated from the Su family, and taken to the ancestral hall.

The door of the ancestral hall was closed heavily. She knelt on the mat, rested her feet for a while, and let out a long breath.

There was a little joy in my heart, but more of it was sadness and guilt.

I was naturally happy to see Grandma Wu. I haven't seen her for three years, and I don't know how she is doing, or whether she has received the money and clothes I sent her.

But this is not a good place. She still wants to escape and can't drag Grandma Wu into the fire pit again.

In addition, Yu Shengsheng keenly felt that the queen would not show mercy and suddenly let her go, and it was not a favor that the Su family begged for.

Why is that?

They even brought Grandma Wu over. There must be a reason for this.

As I was daydreaming, night slowly fell. The ancestral hall was dark and no one came to light the lamp.

Yu Shengsheng closed her eyes slightly, a thin layer of sweat seeping out of her forehead. She tried to calm herself down and told herself over and over again that this was not a villa, and this was not a dark room.

What passed by my ears was the sound of the wind outside the window, not the roar of a wild animal.

Despite this, the memory of fear formed by more than three hundred dark nights still mixed in the sultry air and surged in from all directions.

The lights were on in Su Zhiyi's courtyard. There was a small cooler on the old table opposite the bed. There was an ice basin underneath and an exquisite three-leaf bamboo fan on top. Su Yanshu gently shook the handle, and a cool breeze gently enveloped Su Zhiyi.

This cooling device was the first batch made by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and presented to the Eastern Palace. Su Yanshu won the poetry competition and asked the prince to use this as a prize and bring it back to Su Zhiyi.

Su Zhiyi leaned against the head of the bed with her long hair spread out, eating the ice cream that Su Dingqin had just bought for her.

Madam Su came in with some sour plum soup, looked at Su Dingqin who was wiping his sweat, and said angrily: "You only know how to pamper her, how can you be so greedy for coolness?"

Su Zhiyi said coquettishly: "Oh, mother, I will only eat a little bit, I won't be greedy for the cold, don't blame big brother."

Mrs. Su had no choice but to indulge: "Eat half at most."

Su Zhiyi frowned, a little reluctant: "Then, mother, promise me, I will ask Ru Jian to book a table from Baiweilou, and you will eat with me, okay?"

Su Yanshu smiled gently: "Okay, I'll bring you the white pear blossom."

Su Zhiyi smiled with satisfaction and said loudly: "Confucian Sword."

A female guard in tight clothes came in from outside the door: "Miss."

"Go to Baiweilou and order a table for them to deliver. Remember, you must have the fried golden and jade dishes that eldest brother likes, and you must also have "Bubu Gaosheng" for second brother and "Fugui Mantang" for mother."

Ru Jian took the order and left, with laughter coming from the room behind him.

She walked through the backyard, turned around and headed towards the quiet ancestral hall.

Yu Shengsheng's legs and feet were numb from kneeling and she was almost unconscious. The soles of her feet were wet and she could even smell a faint smell of blood.

But none of these could compare to the fear of the darkness in her heart. She forced herself to keep her eyes open and grit her teeth to fight the darkness and her inner demons.

Her whole body was like a taut string. Just when the string was about to break, suddenly, a cold and murderous feeling brushed across her cheek!

A few strands of hair fell, and a shallow blood mark appeared on the white jade face. Yu Shengsheng had no time to care about these, and stared at the hidden weapon in front of her.

There was a note tied to the hidden weapon.

She waited for a moment, looked around, and saw no movement. She pulled out the hidden weapon and opened the note.

She struggled to stand up, moved to the altar, and looked closely in the faint red light.

The note simply said: Be obedient and follow the rules, otherwise you will bear the consequences.

Yu Shengsheng tightened her fingertips, a little red light reflected in her eyes, and a strong and unresolvable stubbornness surged silently.

She opened her mouth, put the note in it, and chewed it very slowly, chewing every word on the note into pieces.

Swallow it.

If she were alone, she would have nothing to fear—but not now.

Grandma Wu was still in the mansion, and she hadn't even seen her yet.

A night passed, and early the next morning, the Su brothers and sisters went to Madam Su's courtyard to pay their respects.

Mrs. Su slept well last night and looked very energetic.

Su Zhiyi's eyebrows curved slightly: "My sister is back, and mother is happy too. She looks better."

Su Dingqin looked around, his expression full of impatience: "What time is it? Why hasn't she come yet? Does she know any etiquette?"

Madam Su smiled lightly: "Don't worry, wait a little longer, and we'll set the table when Shengsheng arrives."

Su Zhiyi smiled gently: "Maybe it's because my sister just returned home and she's not used to it. She went to bed late and woke up late naturally."

Su Dingqin's voice was filled with anger: "It's been a year, and you haven't made any progress at all. I really don't know how you learned these rules!"

Madam Su comforted her, "Okay, she's my younger sister, if she doesn't understand, just teach her slowly. Madam Wu, go check on Miss Sheng."

"yes."

But a moment later, Nanny Wu came in hurriedly: "Madam, Miss Sheng is not in the courtyard."

Mrs. Su was stunned: "Not here? Where did he go?"

"This... I don't know, but the bed in the room doesn't look like it has been slept in."

Su Zhiyi was slightly surprised: "Did we say something too harsh to my sister when she came back yesterday? She was unhappy and ran away from home?"

Su Dingqin slammed the table and said angrily, "Running away? She's so brave."

Su Yanshu asked: "Mother, what time did you ask Shengsheng to return to the yard last night?"

Madam Su was stunned by the question: "Go back to the courtyard? I didn't tell you to do that. Didn't you tell me to do that?"

The three of them looked at each other, and only then realized that Yu Shengsheng might still be kneeling in the ancestral hall all night!
