Water gate.
Uncle Yan was stopped.
"Where's your travel permit?" the guard asked arrogantly.
Uncle Yan handed over the travel document with a smile, while secretly slipping a bag of silver to the guard.
The guard immediately smiled.
"Who's in the carriage?" The guard's attitude noticeably improved.
Uncle Yan replied, "Reporting to the general, the person in the carriage is my mistress. She is currently taking over the family business and is heading south to Nanjing to manage the shop."
"Wow, you've expanded your business all the way to Nanjing. You must be quite wealthy," the guard said, tilting his head and teasing.
Uncle Yan chuckled and stuffed another bag of silver into his hand, saying, "Not at all, no matter how big your business is, it can't compare to the grandeur of a military officer."
The woman in the carriage, who was moving south, rolled her eyes so wide they almost reached the sky. She didn't even need to look to know how ugly the guard looked as he begged for money.
This kind of scene was naturally acted out in person, but now it's real.
"Alright, you seem to know what's good for you. Go ahead." The guard pocketed the silver with satisfaction, tossed the travel permit to Uncle Yan, and made way for him.
"Okay, okay." Uncle Yan said with a smile as he drove away.
As the carriage brushed past the guards, a gust of wind blew, lifting a corner of the curtain, and the guards inadvertently caught a glimpse of the stunning woman's profile.
One glance was enough to leave me speechless for a long time...
Yan Bo drove for about half an hour before stopping the carriage.
He jumped off the carriage and lifted the curtain. "Miss Nan, you can come out now."
Nanqianyue stretched lazily and said, "Okay."
Upon landing, the southward-migrating moon was captivated by the scenery before it.
The beauty of the landscape is like a flowing painting, with the river water as green as jade and the mountains as verdant as ink wash.
Several small boats were moored in the harbor, which, though small, had its own unique charm.
"It's so beautiful," Nan Qianyue exclaimed. She looked at Uncle Yan and asked, "Uncle Yan, is there a restroom here?"
Yan Bo smiled again, looking as if he had known all along. "Yes, it is right next to the port. The lord ordered people to clean it carefully in advance, so Miss Nan can use it with peace of mind."
So thoughtful?
Everything for food and drink along the way has been prepared, and now they've even cleaned the public toilets. That host, who's probably from the same hometown, is really thoughtful.
Nan Qianyue smiled sweetly, "Then I'll go first."
This time, Yue was no longer running out in a disheveled state during her southward migration. She comfortably washed her hands and boarded a small boat with great anticipation.
She sat in the well-ventilated cabin, where a rosewood table was set up, and the tea and snacks on the table had changed.
Yan Bo stood at the bow of the ship, steering it.
"Uncle Yan, what do you do? How come you know so much?" Nan Qianyue couldn't help but ask curiously.
Yan Bo chuckled and said, "I'm the manager in charge of the hidden sentries at Dongling."
Nanqianyue was startled. This was a secret, wasn't it? The sentries couldn't show their faces unless absolutely necessary, and they usually operated under different identities while hiding in various places.
Yan Bo was in charge, and his identity could not be revealed casually.
"Uncle Yan, why are you telling me this?" Nan Qianyue took a bite of pastry to calm her nerves.
Yan Bo laughed and said, "Miss Nan, don't panic. After I come to pick you up this time, I can no longer act as a sentry. Once I return to Nanjing, I will serve by the master's side."
"I see..."
"Hey, they're here!" Uncle Yan suddenly exclaimed in surprise.
Following his gaze, Nanqianyue saw a large ship slowly approaching.
Uncle Yan smiled, wiped the fine sweat from his forehead, and looked at the large ship with a sigh, "My mission can finally be considered complete."
"Thank you for your hard work, Uncle Yan." Nan Qianyue smiled shyly.
Yan Bo put down the oars and waited for the large ship to approach on its own. He smiled and said with a hint of teasing, "I'm not having any trouble, but I'm afraid the lord is getting anxious."
The large ship approached the small pleasure boat and stopped. A dark blue shadow flew down from the large ship and landed on the bow platform of the pleasure boat.
He nodded to Uncle Yan as a greeting, then turned his gaze to the inside of the boat.
"Miss Nan, it's been a long time."
Looking at the newcomer, Nanqianyue saw a dark blue, close-fitting robe, a very cold and handsome face, and a long sword hanging at his waist. Who is it?
haven't seen you for a long time?
Another lookalike or an acquaintance?
Nanqianyue twitched the corner of her mouth, got up and walked out of the painted boat.
After leaving the Dongling military camp, she would no longer impersonate someone else.
"Excuse me, you've mistaken me for someone else."
Nan Qianyue looked at the cold and handsome man and smiled politely.
The man's expression shifted several times, his brows furrowing deeper and deeper. "Miss Nan, don't you remember me?"
Is he really that hard to remember? That shouldn't be the case.
Uncle Yan was also filled with doubt. Could he have saved the wrong person? That shouldn't be the case.
Just as the two were wondering what was going on, a servant on the large ship lowered a wooden ladder and called out, "Honorable sir, you may come aboard now."
Yan Bo and the cold, handsome man exchanged a glance, then looked at Nan Qianyue and gestured, "Miss Nan, please meet the Lord first."
Nanqianyue nodded and slowly climbed up the wooden ladder, holding onto the support.
The cold, handsome man frowned and tilted his head. So what if she called Miss Nan? She just forgot about him.
On the large ship, Nan Qianyue looked at the exquisitely designed two-story house and couldn't help but exclaim in amazement, even though she was very knowledgeable.
"Who could possess such craftsmanship..."
After climbing up, Yan Bo stood beside Nan Qianyue and gestured for her to enter, saying, "Miss Nan, please go up to the second floor."
Nanqianyue nodded slightly, glanced around at the scenery on the river, and then walked towards the stairwell.
Even before getting close, a refreshing fragrance wafted past her nose. Nan Qianyue raised her eyebrows slightly, thinking, "That lord has good taste."
The stairs are on the outside, and at the turn is a viewing platform. Nanqianyue couldn't help but use it to gaze at the river view.
Yan Bo was very anxious when he saw this. "Miss Nan, let's look at it later. The master is still waiting for you."
